Bottle share from Jeremy. This one walked a fine line between porter and something a bit more potent. excellently captured the nature of the sweet/roasty style without overdoing, or undercutting, either.

Pours black with a huge tan head, slowly and messily receding.
Rich caramel on the smell, fig, lactic acidity, sweet milky chocolate, faint cherry, lemon zest, roasted malt, licorice.
Hmm, rich taste, with caramel and chocolate covered dark fruit (raisin, dried cherry, haw, fig), even some orange rind. Chocolate gets darker, some roast shows up, with lots of milk sugar around. Even in the finish. Some licorice, faint cinnamon, a slightly more burnt maltiness, hints of coffee and some bitter hop, but still fruity.
Aftertaste has milky cocoa, bit of coffee powder, roast. Medium body, medium carbonation, chewy.
Of course, no clear popcorn flavor, more like some caramel-popcorn, but just because of the rich dark sugar and the sweet lactose. A nice sweet porter in the end.

Outstanding! Delicious sweet porter poured into a snifter pours an opaque black with a firm light brown head and fantastic lacing. Nose of sweet dark malts, tobacco, light coffee and chocolate goodness. Flavors follow the nose with a smooth dark brown sugar and cocoa goodness, followed by toffee, rich malts, and a light smoky aftertaste mellowed by sweetness. Great fir the sweet porter stout lovers.

OUTSTANDING. IF popcorn is in this it is a mellowing agent with a smooth creamy mouth feel and moderate carbonation that is unbeatable. One of the best porters I have had to date. A FANTASTIC FLAVOR PROFILE that is the EQUAL of the SUM of it's parts.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a Cycle Brewing pint glass.

A: Very dark brown, opaque, with a huge thick light tan head that stays around for quite awhile. Fairly low levels of visible carbonation.

S: Roasted mocha (chocolate and coffee in balance), cacao richness, and roasty malts.

T: Dark roasted coffee, cacao, roasted malts, and some light resinous hops. Some tobacco and a hint of smoky residue as the beer warms. Roasted bitterness and chocolate in the hang.

M: Sticky mouthfeel, and a nice creamy full body. Low alcohol presence, and fairly low carbonation sensation.

O: Really an enjoyable porter. I get no particular popcorn out of the beer - even looking for it, there's nothing particular to pick out. But an above-average porter either way.

i like this one a little less than the others in the series i have had. its sweet like its supposed to be, but its way way sweet, almost too sweet, with the popcorn definitely being more of a caramel corn rather than a butter and salt movie theater thing. the beer is super dark brown and frothy, sticky thick, and entirely palate and stomach coating, hard to wash it clean. sticky in feel too, with a lot of roast almost burnt barley, but the sweetness over accounts for the bitter there. this absolutely had to be split between a few people, there is no way i would feel good if i drank the whole thing, which is rare in a beer this low in abv. its more of a dessert than a part starter, but i again have to appreciate this innovative brew from mikkeller for being so different. unlike the others, i wouldnt buy this again.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, licorice, and alcohol aromas. Taste is much the same with sweet cocoa and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but I am not getting any popcorn aspects whatsoever.
