Maternus Premium Pilsener
.5L brown plastic bottle, dated "26.05.14 329" (consumed 01.01.14)
€ ,29 @ ALDI, Teltower Damm 281, Berlin, Germany

Clean, basic Euro-pils from Belgium. Aroma of fairly strong hop and malt. Straightforward golden malt that's "medium" in its depth of flavor. Solid bitterness. Fine herbal hop flavor permeates the malt from start to finish, increasingly, showing itself at its strongest in the finish. Overall: basic and one-sided but well-made and with enough hops to satisfy.

A: Pours light golden with a large white fluffy head that sinks into rich lacings.

S: Clean malt with some sweetness combined with a modest bitterness from hops. In short; smells like a German Pilsener should, even though a little light in smell.

T: Not very complex, but the dry malt and the bitterhops are there. Not strong in taste.

M: Body is medium and carbonation very offensive. Aftertaste feels kind of artificial and bitter.

O: Not very interesting. There are so many Germans Pilseners to choose from; choose another one.
