Served in a Local Option cervoise.

The label describes this beer as a "Kloosterbier", proclaiming time and again how dripping with tradition it is. Let's just see how it tastes, eh? It pours a clear apple juice topped by over a finger of white foam. The nose comprises cracked wheat, coriander, light banana, and a decent helping of citrus peel. The taste boldens things up a bit with some sparks of clove, cardamom, and black pepper. The citrus comes through a touch stronger as well, with a vein of apple cider crawling along the finish line. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and an ever-so-slightly oily feel. Overall, a nice little Belgian pale; nothing particularly distinguishing about it, but a tasty option nonetheless.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #91 (Aug 2014):

Fruity, Spicy, Grainy, Uninteresting

A bit of a label beer, non-existent history so the background is in question. Regardless, this brew ends up being your typical Belgian Pale Ale. Fruity, hint of alcohol, peppery yeast, and lighter bodied. Odd cereal grain and ascorbic like flavors distract our taste buds. Nothing pops and unremarkable, with the great selection avavilbe currently you are better off passing on this one.

750 ml bottle Pours golden with a long lasting, foamy white head. Aroma is of grassy hops and biscuit malt. Body is medium and smooth. Taste is grassy hops, candy sugar and bready malt. Finish is long, slightly hoppy and spicy. This brew reminds me of an industrial lager.

Poured this Belgian Pale Ale from a bottle into a pint glass. The bottle says it is a Kloosterbier...labeled here on BA as a Belgian Pale Ale. This ale pours a clear golden color, produces a white head, features average retention and left ample lacing on the glass. The aroma of this ale consists of malted wheat, banana and coriander. Medium in body this brew has a foundation of malted wheat, clove, coriander, and banana. Overall, nothing makes this brew stand out but it is a decent session beer and it's worth a try.

I got a bottle of Kristoffel Kloosterbier, but it contains evident dubbel. And unfortunately the worst one I ever drank. Almost no head, dark reddish brown, weak aroma and flower. Unpleasant aftertaste. Avoid.
