I am a bit of a Saison connoisseur and I thought this Saison was very good.

Look: hazy golden yellow hue with a two-inch white head.

Aroma: wheat, yeast, citrus

Taste: It's wheat, yeast, sourdough, tart, lemon, pear, banana, a little flowery and piney, very well balanced.

Feel: light to medium body, flavorful and yet thirst quenching.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a glossy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. The aroma beats at a dried refined florally sweet Belgian maltiness. Subtle sweet cherries. Some sweet grassiness. Sly breadiness underneath. Light sour, then a light funk. The flavor rides on the floral sweetness, somewhat like rosehips, earthy sweetness and then some peach and pineapple. Lingering sweet fruity to dry earthy aftertaste, subtle crisp finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Overall, this one was a nice saison, crisp with a semi-sweet yet floral indifference texturing itself a bit differntly than the original style. Still, I could come back to.

11.2 oz bottle in a tulip glass.

A delicate pour yields a pale golden colored brew with a thin but sturdy white clamp. It's look is clean, well carbonated, and the glass is lined with lacing.

Yeast, funky, and flowery. Lemon and light fruit follow.

Tart yeast, light wheat biscuit, sour fruits, and lemon flavors.

Body is light with yeast raising the feel. Tart and slightly sour, dry hop finish.

I was lucky that the hops held up, the bottle was buried in the beer fridge for a while. Citra and mosaics are working out here.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from an 11.2 oz. bottle into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Light gold with only a mild haze but a good amount of visible carbonation. A thin white head forms but fades quickly.

S: Really nice here. A modest lactic tart, yeast and a fair amount of earthy funk. All of that under wave after wave of citrus, tropical, dank and grassy hops. There’s a pineapple presence that might be part of the hop profile (but maybe this has some Brettanomyces in it as well?). A mild lemony citric acidic and a light biscuity malt profile. This is on par with Hop Savant I think, and this certainly has the hops-du-jour currently popular.

T: Follows the nose. Lemony citric acid and lactic tartness with all the fruity hops, citrus fruit, tropical, and dank flavors. A milder earthy funk, and light cracker malts. Some minerally character adds to a saison-like flavor. The fruity flavors swell up through the middle, and it’s only at and just after the swallow that the Belgian yeasty fruit esters (apples, pears, mild banana) become identifiable for me. The finish is a modest hop bitterness but stays fruity. The whole thing does end fairly abruptly for some reason.

M: A light body, though it stops just short of watery. Well-carbonated, with a low alcohol presence.

O: Smells great, and the flavors are good; but the Belgian yeast just doesn’t get along as well with the hop profile here in my opinion. It seems a similar reason that Belgian IPAs don’t tend to be a personal preference for me. The body could have used a little more malts and overall substance as well. Still, it was nicely hopped and enjoyable.

Darn near perfect saison/farmhouse. Golden colors with a good amount of floaties and slight lacing. Strong funk on the scent. Taste and feel is just the right amount of tartness and flavor. Crisp and refreshing. Perfect summer beer. Too bad I was drinking it in the spring.

Tart and funky, get down get down. Mosaic and Citra are almost the peanut butter and jelly of the hop world. They work so well together and are brought to a newer and more exciting level with the Belgian yeast.

Really spicy, good fruit married with slightly less than mouth puckering tartness. REally enjoyable.

Very nice stuff. Really get the Trillium side like is said below. Reminds me of their hoppy Saisons.

Very drinkable with a lot of fruity hop character. Very little yeast presence much like some of their other Saison offerings. Would definitely drink this often if it were around me.

Bottle from the COOP.. easy to see the Trillium influence.. Clear bright golden yellow... bunches of tropical fruity hoppiness... dry grainy with hints of lemon zest... very nice.
