In a tulip at cellar temperature. Production date of 09/10/13.

Prearis pours a dark, somewhat brackish burgundy with a creamy three-finger head billowing up high. Carbonation streams are visible and ample.

I smell maple, cherries, prunes, raisins, and vanilla in the aroma. There also might be a bit of a spicy dark fruitcake thing going on.

Cherries, figs, chocolate, and licorice are the initial flavors I pick up. Skip to the finish and there's a mix of somewhat bitter, earthy leatheriness and some fairly boozy breadiness. It's quite roasty, too.

The feel is pretty good. Filled out with medium to high carbonation.

An unusual quadruple that I could mistake for a fruity oak barrel-aged imperial stout if I took a sip blindfolded.

Paid $15 for 750 ml bottle. Served in a goblet.

Appearance - What you would expect of a quad, nice and muddy looking. Nice fine small bubbles in the little bit of foam that you get on a pour and lacing left in the glass.

Smell - was supprised. This does not smell like any quad I have had. Sharp, fruity maybe? Not rich and boozy and dark but light, sour smelling.

Taste - at first, coffee and cigarette smoke but only breifly. Not tasting any fruit like I do in other quads. Very quicky it goes to bitter copper pennys and way later long after it is gone the taste can only be described as if I had licked an ashtray. I concede that many folks like a bitter beer and for those folks I would say that the beers flavors go together well and seem cohesive. No weird gaps on the flavor ride or any watery-ness. Unfortunatley, I am unable to find the complexity that others can taste in this beer.

Mouthfeel - Decent mouthfeel. Not thick or velvety or super slick but nothing at all to complain about.

Overall - Please note that I like the rich, malty, sweet, boozy, dark beers (Gouden Carolus Van De Kaiser Blau, Leffe Brune, St Bernardus 12, Gulden Draak, Marzens, etc.) and I just dont like bitter beers...at all....ever. That being said, this is one of the worst beers I have ever had. Folks that like a huge, bitter, hop presense have a good chance at finding this to be a good quad and not your usual Belgian.

Served in a small snifter from a large bottle.

Hazy dark brown with a durable, creamy, dark tan head that leaves superb lacing.

Very good and typical (if that's possible) aroma, but the flavor is a bit disappointing, especially In the aftertaste where eventually a mildly bitter and burnt flavor is almost all that is left.

Feel: full, or near full, body, medium and very soft carbonation.

Bottled on date of 10/11/14

Appearance - Pours dark auburn brown with a khaki 2-finger head. Fair retention, dying to a thin, broken layer of suds and a thick ring around the edge of the glass. Lacing is mostly spotty with some streaks here and there. Good stick.

Smell - Not much. Lightly tart with some dark, fruity, sugary sweetness.

Taste - Follows the nose. Not much punch in the flavor, instead opting for moderate subtlety. Dark fruit hitting on fig and plum with a touch of raisin sweetness and a sweet, sugary backbone. Hops appear mildly near the finish with a leafy, floral bitterness. Faint tartness appears in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Full-bodied with low to moderate carbonation. Not overtly syrupy as most quads - for me this is a plus.

Overall - Decent brew, but ultimately lacks the strength of flavor and sophistication shown in the premier examples of the style. It is, in the least, a very drinkable, approachable quad that might make for a great introductory drink into the style.

I tried this beer at the Gambrinus pub in Brugge.

A - A very dark ale with a beige head on top, which turns in to a fluffy substance rather slow.

S - Fruity hops up front, than comes a yeasty kind of smell and after that the is a touch of pine noticeable.

T - Candy sugar up front, not to much though, just in balance with the other flavors. The body has a full sweet and bitter taste, mixed with floral hops.

M - A medium carbonation and a warming aftertaste.

O - A nice quadruple. a little different than the other ones out-there.

Pours a dirty chocolate brown color with a tight creamy head that dissipates into a frothy cap. Some nice lace action.

The aroma is of a brown bread malt, perhaps some pumpernickel. Some plum fruity notes and a touch of clove.

The taste is of a dark bready malt. Hints of brown sugar. Light carob and a subtle plum fruitiness. Light clove spice. Flavors seem muted for a quad. No off flavors quite enjoyable but lacking the Big Bang quad flavor.

The feel is light to moderate with airy carbonation. It is delightfully sweet on the palate with just a hint of rustic bitterness.

Very easy drinking quad. Lacks some depth but no ill flavors.

Dark brown body with fermentation floating around making this hazy and murky, the head is a light tan color, very thick and billowy and last for a very long time. The lacing is very thick and absolutely wonderful to look at.
The aroma is filled with dark fruits, fig, grape, and apple.
Malty and sweet, orange zest and brown sugar are the main flavors here. I do pick up some mild raisin tastes.
Crisp and plenty of carbonation, its medium bodied and the alcohol is well presented in this quad.
Smooth, relaxing and easy to drink, this is a good quad, maybe not as complex as others I’ve had but definitely very smooth.

appearance: Hazy deep red. Thick tan head and messy lacing. Looks like a quad should.
smell: Dark sweet fruit. Not terribly complex but very nice quad.
taste: Much like the nose but with some aromatic spice in the finish and a slight peppery burn.
Very interesting and tasty.
overall: Nice quad. Not the best I've had but quite good.
