A - Golden with 3 finger head with superb retention. served in an omer traditional blond glass, tons of lace.

S - Hops are the first thing i smell. Citrus, Floral, American style hops come to mind. this may be one of the hoppiest saisons I have ever smelled. there is also a nice earthy and fruit aroma to balance it out. one of the best smelling saisons i have ever tried. Incredible aroma .

T - Lemon, Citrus, hoppy, hint of pine needle, a touch of phenolics adding to balance, earthy and estery but not as much as most saisons(or perhaps the hop presence is masking it right now).

M - great mouthfeel. dry and goes down easy, just what i look for in a saison. my only complaint is that it is perhaps a big over carb'd but that is being picky.

overall - a unique saison that seems to have an american twist although it is an import. highly drinkable and very tasty. the aroma won me over on this one along with the great taste. only thing that would make this beer better is slightly less carbonation and maybe a tad more funk and yeast character. i will be buying more of this beer.

A: The beer is slightly hazy golden yellow in color. It poured with a finger high fluffy white had that died down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has some citrusy flavors.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very dry on the palate with a moderate to high amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and would be quite refreshing as an accompaniment to food given its dryness.

Poured into a tulip from a 750ml bottle.

A: Large foamy head, diminishing to something more normal after a few sips. Nice chunky lacing. Pale copper color verging on golden with medium activity bubbling. Slightly cloudy.

S: Nose is orange and clove(?), white pepper maybe. Hay and grass notes (summer!!!). Very slight barnyard going on here. Fruity hops.

T: Bitter and nicely bright on front on tongue. Notes of mild pine and hay on the tongue and mid. No real funk in the mouth despite the brett. Finish is dominated by the hops, dry with no real alcohol on it (impressive for a 8.0% ABV brew), but still warming me nicely after a few sips. Long but dry.

M: Brightness and mild acidity keeps things light though the mid-pallet. Dry and somewhat thin, but not at all in a bad way. Medium-light body belies the ABV.

A good brew. A slightly different take on a Saison, but nothing too out of the ordinary - the increase in hop notes is nice. Would balance a heavy fatty holiday meal nicely, while making you pine for the golden days of summer. Would drink again. Nice to find a Saison in the winter.

Reviewed from notes:

appearance: golden orange with a fluffy 2 finger white head

smell: citrus, spices, sweet, malts, hops, grass

taste: citrus, hay, spices, malts,

mouthfeel: mild carbonation, medium body,

overall: very interesting saision. there are so many different versions of a saison these days. so much more to offer then your normal saison du pont. which isn't a bad thing. makes me want to try other saisons.

Cheers,
the CPJ

On draft at The Railroad Street Bar & Grill...
Appears a transparent light gold with small white cap that quickly fades into a mild cap.
Smell is of pils malt, chamomile, black pepper, sunflowers, daisies, and honey.
Taste is of the aromas with a sweet blast of flavorful fresh earthy sweetness. A hint of lemony tartness is found in the background.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, sticky, slick, and semi dry in the finish.

Pours a slightly hazy, dark golden orange color with a massive three finger, frothy white head that very slowly fades into a lasting cap. Large chunks of soapy lacing left behind. A bit over carbonated.

Earthy, floral aroma with a nice balance of resinous hops, earthy funk, pale malt and crisp, light fruit. Perfume like with more hops in the nose than expected. Earthy grass and straw notes followed by some apricot and apple.

Medium bodied with tight carbonation and some crisp, champagne like effervescence. Again, this is surprisingly hop forward for the style with some dry, piny bitterness that compliments the funky yeast, lingering throughout into a dry finish. Earthy, dry and resinous with a prominent pine flavor. This is followed by the earthy, funky yeast that gives off some barnyard, grass and straw followed by some crisp fruit. Hints of apple, pear and apricot give this beer a touch of sweetness that balances out the hops and funk. Subtle alcohol presence in the finish but the ABV is well masked. Complex and flavorful but a bit too hoppy and over carbonated for my liking.

Digging the label brewery name (It's not TOOL, but I can pretend :]). 750 capped bottle to my newly received CBS snifter.

Pours a nice medium orange color, with a light white head of a couple fingers. Leaves nice lacing.

Aroma is surprisingly floral hoppy, with citrus tones, citrus peels, white pepper, some slight hay/barnyard funk and a bit of fruity, yeasty esters.

Taste has a nice bitter front, with some lemon peel and orange zest, big spicy peppery notes, slight fruity yeast notes,a slight funkiness and a bitter end.

Feels crisp, carbonation is very noticeable. There's a slickness about it and it's got some body to it.

fourth review, and all of them seem different. here's my take: pretty golden color with a white head that leaves lots of lace. nose and taste are fruity, flowery, grassy hops with a mildly sweet malt backbone, a touch of funk, and just the slightest hint of spice. it seems to be hop-based, not yeast based though. hops are fruity enough to translate sweetness as well, which harmonizes well with the malt profile. medium body that carries a very nice touch of bitter in the back end. a classy kind of bitter that just helps amp up the flavor profile. silky slick with less prickliness than expected for a saison. enjoyable.

750ml bottle served in a Blvd. Tank 7 tulip. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a tall off white head. Plenty of carbonation. Bottle conditioned. Spicy aroma with some citrus. Light bodied. More spice and citrus in the flavor. A bit of a hop bite, but not bitterness. Crisp and dry, just how I like a Saison. Very drinkable, good stuff.

On tap at Max's today.

The beer pours a golden amber color with good head retention and lacing. Really like the nose in this one, as I pick up considerable white pepper, light ginger, sort of pine, balsa wood aroma, light honey and clove. There's almost an apple cider aroma to this beer that I kind of like. The flavor profile replicates the nose in this beer, and although there's some sweetness initially in this beer, it leans to the dry side on the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly light, and the beer is a bit thin on the palate, but I think it works well with this beer. Otherwise, I enjoyed the smooth, long and lightly bitter finish.

Nice beer....

Pours an almost clear, golden amber color with just a hint of orange. A large white head on this one that diminishes rather quickly. Scent has a strong brett character. If this beer isn't brewed with brett, I'm going to feel stupid...But I'm pretty positive that's a lot of brett I'm getting. A bit of barnyard funk with some spices and new leather. Some earthy notes as well. Taste is initially spicy with some very distinct funky flavors...definite brett. Very subtle grassy notes with crisp hoppiness. Finishes with a dry, crisp, spiciness that is outstanding. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, crisp, and dry. Drinkability is very high. Overall, I am really impressed with this beer. I'm looking forward to trying more beers from these To Øl guys.
