Smooth beer, although abv is pretty high, taste is not over powering! Pleasant aromas. Mildly sour, I prefer a stronger sour bite. Enjoyable, very subtle after taste. Like i said i do prefer a sour beer, yet this beer is mildly sour i still enjoyed it just the same. Would i buy this beer again? Yes i would the price was over all the same as any good 22oz it was suggested to me from a representative from bev-mo it ran about $9.99 which is pretty decent. I would suggest this beer to all to everyone, who wants something very very mild in sourness and a smooth finish.

11.2 oz bottle into DFH snifter.

A- Very hazy, golden straw. Thick head dissapated quickly into a very small but substantial head. Nice lacing.

S- Holy Shit!!! I wish I could make a car air freshner out of this! It's funky and musty, yet fresh all at the same time. This is possibly one of the finest smelling beers I ever had, no shit.

T- Tart pineapple, its hard to put my finger on it, but its tart and refreshing.

M- Light and cool, this is a winner

O- I REALLY enjoyed this beer. It's under $5 as well. Dollar for Dollar, I'd be hard pressed to find a better way to get my sour fix. You must at least try this, you cannot go wrong, especially for $5.

The beer pours a golden yellow color with a white head. The beer is fairly cloudy and you cannot see through it. The aroma has a little bit of floral notes to it as well as some nice barnyard funk and leather notes from the brett. The flavor is very dry. I get a lot of yeast and funk as well as some lemon and orange citrus notes. There is also some grass in the flavor. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A nice, slightly funky wild ale.

Gold color with a pristing white bubbly head to it. Aroma had the distict sacchromyces bent to it. Dry citrus also compliments the mild sour aroma.

Clean dry bspa, stays away from the traditional belgian yeast flavors of clove, this one is nicely soured, not much of a fruit flavor to it, kind of like an imperial berlinerweisse that is bretted up. Really defies some style categorization, which ain't no problem. Could see it labeled a wild, a bspa, a saison, who knows.

A little more sweetness, which is perfectly counter balanced by the tart from the critters. Delivers enough hopping as well, not muddling the beer, still components of hops, mild citrus, brett, tart, dry all have their respective parts and don't overshadow each other. Its not aggro about any of them. Harmony.

Really enjoyed the price point on this, at only $4, its a welcome addition and probably a universal pickup anytime I see it. Hides the alcohol well. Good for hot days by the river/pool.

Appearance: The first pour is completely clear, and deep-golden in color beneath a fluffy, big-bubbled head of rocky white. The bubbles rising from below buoy the head, but eventually it falls and then dissipates. Average lacing. Secondary pours display chunks of yeast in suspension.

Smell: Sweet. Candyish. Fruity. Mineralish. Hints of manure and mud, as well as a touch of dried tobacco leaf.

Split an 11.2oz bottle with a friend, poured into pint glasses.

Appearance - Brilliant yellow with a minimal layer of head that lingered throughout. Carbonation brimmed for a moment, then subsided into small groups of bubbles stuck to the side of the glass.

Aroma - Couldn't get much here, but my olfactories have never been up to snuff. Mostly white fruits, peaches mainly, with a bit of spice.

Taste - Very much the same as aroma, only more obvious. The profile did shift from a maltier fruit forward drink to a stronger hop affair as it breathed a little. Complex. Light bodied in flavor, alcohol presence was hardly noticeable, even if it comes in at 9%.

Mouthfeel - Light, this thing was able to glide smoothly down with no distractions. But it also left it with nothing to search and discover in this area.

Overall - The only gripe I have on this beer is it's shifting profile makes it very difficult to pair it with a entree. I can see it's uses after dinner, or as an aperitif. However, this also gives me an excuse to try it again with multiple foods. And really, it's hard to fault a beer that gives me a reason to come back to it.

A-Reinaert pours a clear golden straw color with over two inches of bubbly eggshell white head that reduces slowly, leaving substantial foamy lacing and a cap of foamy head.

S- The signature fruity/funky De Proef yeast is prominent in the nose. Smells like dried flowers, hay, leather, and fresh cut grass. Mild sweet aromas of honey and grapefruit skins.

T/M- The first sip opens with a burst of dry, grassy hops, backed by a mild grainy sweetness. The earthy yeasty funk comes in mid-palate, but fades fast. The finish is dry and fairly abrupt, with a touch of grapefruit rind and wheat.

O- I would have preferred a more assertive funkiness, like Dirk did with the Flemish Primitive series. But this is a different beer with a different agenda, and it is successfully executed.

Poured from an 11.2 oz. bottle into a Duvel tulip. Unsure of the year of the bottle.

a - Pours a hazy dark golden color with one finger of fluffy white head and moderate carbonation evident. Head lasts throughout drinking it, and leaves lots of lacing on the glass.

s - Smells of brett, light barnyard funk, sour citrus, oak, and earthy notes. Not overly funky, but the brett definitely comes out up front.

t - Tastes of brett, fruity malts, funk, citrus, oak, hay/grass, and bready malts. Again, some brett up front, followed up fruit and more earthy notes.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty smooth and easy to drink. Does not taste like 9% ABV.

o - Overall a pretty nice Belgian pale ale with brett. The brett stands out, though it isn't overly funky or sour. Glad to try it and would have it again.

Bottle at cellar temp.

A: Before I even crack the bottle open, I should note that it's filled far higher than any other beer I've seen. Pours to am extremely clear straw-golden color with an absurd (4 finger) white head. I couldn't decant the whole 11.2 oz bottle off the yeast because the head was going to overflow out of a pint sized glass. This thing has bubbles racing to the surface at break-neck speed.

S: Tons of funk and barnyard on the nose.

T: Extremely funky beer, fairly dry with all kinds of hay. You'd never guess this beer is 9% off the first couple sips, until it starts warming up your throat. There are some interesting earthy background notes. Very tasty, and deceptively alcoholic.

M: A fairly full body for such a dry beer. The extreme carbonation gives it a nice lively feel. Also makes for some pretty serious burps.

O: I'll preface my overall opinion with this: My experience with wild ales is limited to sour bombs, so I've never really tasted anything quite like this before. That said, I thought this was solid - I don't know that I'll go out of my way to stock up on it, but I will be a returning customer.

750 ml bottle with a synthetic cork and cage. $10.99 from Beer Run. Date on the cork (I assume its a date) says 020610, so 10 months old-maybe.

Appearance: Clear yellow to light orange. Lots of active carbonation. Tight white, foamy white head. Excellent retention. Some lacing, but not a whole lot.

Smell: Lots of brett. Earthy, slightly musty, hay and wood. There's also fruitiness-- lemon and also some apple/pear aromas. A little spice and some perfumy aromas too.

Taste: Surprising bitterness and strong brett funkiness. Grassy, herbal, very woody. Sweet fruit, lemon, and spice swirl with the funk midpalate, then a dry and somewhat too bitter finish which is slightly offputting.

Mouthfeel: The beer is carbonated perfectly-- bubbly and active but not harsh. Soft in the middle, then very dry.

Overall: This is the most "brett forward" beer I've had to date. The aromas and flavors are strong and funky-- excellent. I think the beer is over-hopped though (I think-- too bitter for my liking in this beer anyway), and the bitterness along with the dry finish detracts from an otherwise excellent beer.

Reinaert pours a nice hazy gold. Things are topped off by a billowy two fingers of head. Head settles to a ring. Plenty of sticky lace is left down the glass.

Reinaert packs a wallop in the aroma department. Brett notes and plenty of em strike first. Juicy and funky sour cherry notes shine. Cherry blends with a bit of a rosewater floral quality. Beneath the fruity/floral brett notes a bit of caramel shows up. A vague spice quality present as well. Some light earthy notes rounds out the aroma.

Onto the flavor. The flavor isn't quite as mind blowing as the aroma. It's still quite impressive, though. Strong funk from the brett still dominates things. Rosewater notes are much stronger on the palate. Cherry notes strike a bit of a dryish quality. Light caramel and spice make an appearance beneath the brett. Brett pops back up in the drying earthy finish.

Reinaert is light bodied with a bit of a hefty carbonation.

Note, this beer is not for newcomers to the world of brett. The funk is allowed to shine, but never completely overpowers things. The alcohol is almost non existent. This is one dangerously drinkable brew. This is a wonderful brew for lovers of the funk.

(11.2oz bottle). Pours cloudy golden with lots of floaties and small white head. Aroma has sour cherries, caramel, and spices. Taste has a sweet malt backbone with both fruits and pit fruit to go along with a modest sourness. The sour, though, is not very noticeable. Medium to full bodied an thick texture. Kind of disappointing....

A: pours pale gold, with a foamy white two finger head. The head is lasting and leave some lace. The glass etching is making a thin layer of head last a very long time.
S: just opening the bottle released a funky aroma. A band-aid with a hint of lemon is the best I can describe the smell.
T: again hard to describe, very tart. Very little sweetness. Mostly a funky plastic with a malty lemon flavor. Very dry on palate.
M: dryness makes for a very crisp and refreshing feeling. Carbonation is high.
O: new style for me, and like IPAs its going to grow on me. I like the funk, and the dry tartness.

Pours a bright yellow color with a fairly small, pale head. Smell is bright, sour, lemony, maybe a little plummy, a little sweet tart smell to it.

Taste is surprisingly malty, a little bit of sourness, but not like a sweet fruity sour. More like a hoppy lemon drink. Has a little bit of that dirty dishwater taste to it.

Mouthfeel is good, fairly light, not sticky or thick or anything. Overall, it's not bad. I think it could have used a more noticeable sour flavor.

A: Straw-colored body. Head wasn't quite as big as I'd expect from a brett beer.

S: Strongly acidic with tropical fruits and sour apples.

T: IHere's where I got thrown off. There's hardly any funk at all, and it's mostly in the aftertaste. Mostly bready Pilsner malt notes. Largely indistinguishable from a run-of-the-mill BSPA.

M: Rather light and bubbly.

D: An OK Belgian, but not nearly as wild as I was hoping. I was expecting at the very least something along the lines of Orval, and this wasn't even close.

Pours a golden orange with some floaties and tons of carbonation. Big fizzy white head that leaves some sticky lacing.

Yeast, malt, spice in the nose. Funky but good.

Spicy tropical fruit up front, leading to bitter and palate cleaning alcohol. Dries right out with a bitter bite and alcoholic kick. Some wood, vanilla, pineapple, and peach nectar. This is very good.

Medium body and carbonated.

At 9%, this is surprisingly easy to drink. What a great beer.

Had a bottle of this at Pizzeria Paradiso. I don't have a lot of experience with sour ales (not sure if this truly counts as one, anyway) having only had, to-date, the Monk's Cafe sour and one of the Petrus's, but this fit right in.

In an unfair comparison to the Monk's Cafe flemish sour, the Reinaert isn't as robust. Not necessarily something good or bad. I think the variation here is that Reinaert isn't as fruit dominant. The maltiness comes through a lot more than some other sours. Which is a mixed bag. On the one hand, the beer is less ostentatious and cloying than some sours. On the other hand, I feel like it could stand to cloy at a drinker just a tiny bit more.

Definitely recommend this beer, and maybe having it after a Silly Super 64 should be avoided.

Poured into a Corsendonk glass

looks like: Pale then layer of head, sporadic lacing

smells like: Grainy, aromas of cereal, makes me think of fresh barley malt with hints of sournes

tastes like: The tongue is as the nose is, grainy, bready, lots of graininess with a bit of sour yeasty smells almost no hop character just a bit of sour lemon notes on the after taste.

feels like: Medium body, medium carbonation.

drinks like: It drinks real easy, grainy maltiness is balanced by a little wild sourness. There was a real subtle hand that brewed this one.

Look: Poured into a Chimay Goblet. Pours a pale, hazy gold with an inch of lace, tiny bits of lace stick to the glass.
Smell:Bread, light funk, dried pear and a bit of earth.
Taste: No alcohol (or at least not 9% worth) which is nice. Lots of fresh bread (sourdough, country white), horseblanket (though I've never licked one), fresh hay and earthy and floral hops. Very well balanced.
Mouth: A little high on carbonation but still pretty smooth. Dry on finish.
Drink: Easy going down. I'm glad I cellared one. I'll hit it up in a out six months and redo the review. Seems like it would age pretty well.

Live review of a 33cL bottle.
A: Very pale golden, it poured with a big white spritzy head that died to a strong puffy two-finger head.
S: I like this. A pale straw blends very well with a slightly tart cinnamon apple with brett funk. This comes off a bit like orval, but a little tarter in the aroma. Mild, but good.
T: Not as acidic as the smell, but it has a very nice creamy rustic earthiness with a corn or wheat-like white bread malt. The finish is slightly alcoholic like vodka with a lemon citrus. I'm not overly impressed with the taste.
M: Thinner with a frothy crisp carbonation.
D: Good.

IT pours a nice clear gold with a hint of orange. The head is foamy and white and dissipates at a medium pace. It leaves some foamy lacing.

It has a bit of a subdued aroma for a brett beer. It is pungent at first but after a few sniffs it is light and malty, with some grassy, herbal hop presence.

It is a nice, smooth Belgian pale ale. It has hints of brett, but nothing overwhelming. It has a like lemon flavor, but it mostly bready, honey-like malt and a pinch of hops.

If you are looking for a beginners wild ale this is it.

A: Like a hazy pear in color. A great big fluffy white head. Looking nice.

S:Nice and crisp with a slightly sour note. Some citrus notes as well as possibly a hint of pineapple.

T: Very nice. Simple with a slight sour kick. Starts out with a nice sour hit, then develops with citrus flavor, and brown sugar. Finishes with a nice slightly yeasty flavor with hints of banana and clove. The booze is well hidden.

M: Very light, just a tad watery, with excellent high carbonation.

D: Slightly tart, very tasty. Easy drinking, and a wonderful beer to use as an intro to Belgian Styles.

Pours a hazy dark golden yellow color with a two finger, frothy white foam head that has good retention, only slowly fading into a lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind.

Nice earthy oak aroma with hints of tart citrus and light fruit. Citrus peel with lemon zest and light fruit notes, mostly apple and pear.

Medium bodied with very tight bubbly carbonation up front with a very prominent funky tart oak presence. Vinegary tartness with lots of funk which is nicely balanced by oaky vanilla notes and light fruit notes. Citrusy notes, especially lemon peel and crisp light fruits like apple and pear. Puckering without being acidic. Extremely well balanced with a lingering dry finish. Delicious and dangerously drinkable.

A: Perfectly clear golden hue. Dense white head with good retention.

S: Heavy fruit aromas from the brett I suppose. A slight and very pleasant sourness from the aroma. Strangely, it almost reminds me of a sweet tomato sauce.

T: Surprisingly, it doesn't taste as unique as it smells. The aroma comes through in the flavor at first, but there is a very strong golden ale backbone and the finish is clean, slightly sweet, with a pilsener like bitterness.

M: More than average carbonation suits it well.

D: For the ABV, it's very, very drinkable.

I excepted something different from this beer, but I wasn't disappointed.

Got a bottle, 750ml cork and caged...from a friend; thanks Chris! Poured into my La Chouffe tulip glass. This is a very interesting say the least. Basically due to it being a "Wild ale" according to the label...but also classified a "flemish". Starting with appearance: pours a hazy and pale straw color, with about a finger size fizzy white head. Head has little retention as it dissipates relatively quickly. A couple fizzy bubbles of lacing slides pretty quick down the sides of the glass.

Aroma is very strong from the moment the cork is popped. And as confusion sets in...the "flemish" aroma isn't present! This really smells like a solid American Wild Ale. Big funk and tart notes up front. Citrus and wood are also noticeable.

Flavor is unique... I wouldn't say I love it, but I don't hate it either. The "wild ale" flavors fade out big time in the taste. Based off of the aroma, I expected more sharp tartness, or even a vinegar tone based off the beer still being labeled as "flemish". It's actually very mild...and more "Belgian pale ale" like. Some light fruits...very faint, yeast, and wood notes are the biggest. Theres a very small hint of tart/sour in the very end of the flavor, and it lasts for a few seconds. Overall...this is again, unique. Interesting, but bland at the same time. Was hoping for more...but at the same time...a very easy drinker! Booze is very well hidden for 9%!
