Really nice. Light and a bit more fizzy than expected, so almost refreshing. Full flavored, not very malty. The alcohol is quite apparent. Overall is very nice, and pairs really well with Milka chocolate.

330 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Deep reddish brown colour, large off-white head. Pleasant aroma of malts, brown kandij sugar, dark dried fruits and mild spices, hints of leather. Malty flavour with notes of brown kandij sugar, but not very sweet. Hints of mild spices, dark dried fruits and oak. Very nice.

Have a cloth handy prior to opening! It took a full 5 minutes of sloooooow prising to get the cap off. The bottle had been well rested, and came right out the fridge, but it was fizzing/bubbling at the cap for the whole 5 mins - don't think I've ever seen anything quite like that. If I'd simply popped the cap I might have got a fountain of beer in my lap.
L- Dark chestnut brown, quite hazy, and surprising there's ANY CO2 left in this beer to yield an ultra-fine bubble pale tan head.
S- It has a mildly spicy smell to it.
T- It was quite rich then that facet morphed into a hint of sweetness then a midly hoppy dry/sour finish. The richness is what I refer to as 'puddingy-rich' as in Brit Xmas pudding, deep, well developed, complex, rounded, somewhat pungent.
F- Surprising that at 'just' 6.5% this seems to leave an alcohol zing on my palate, I don't usually anticipate that until c8.5%/+.
O- Intriguing beer, rich>sweet>dry>sour all in one,,,, not sure if I've encountered such a '4 in 1' beer before. ps. I don't like sweetness in beer so I should emphasise that here is was both mild and fleeting.
I would happily drink this beer again, it's somewhat different and a little intriguing too! 330ml bottle bought from BeersOfEurope (UK) BB: 14/11/2020

Cloudy, medium-brown colored body topped with a somewhat fizzy yet creamy and thick head. Sweet aroma of candi sugars and bright spices; cinnamon and anise; brown sugar scent. Excellent flavors of brown malt; dull yet inviting sweetness; balanced, earthy spiciness; nearly indiscernible bitterness. Medium body; rather watery and airy; fairly dry throughout.
All in all, a nice brown ale, malt-forward and easy to drink.

Poured into a chalice. Fairly hazy and muddy on the pour, with a copper-brown color. A standard pour produced a modest light-tan head that slowly settled and left several splotches. Lots of stone fruit on the aroma - mainly plums and dark cherries. Some caramel and sweet malt as well. There was bright carbonation consistent with the Belgian style, but the bubbles overshadowed the taste if that makes sense. The fruit was there but was restrained, allowing the slightly sweet malt to dominate. There were some floral esters but they were also subtle. The overall feel was light due to the high carbonation and the finish was predictably dry. Overall this was a nice dark Belgian, but it left me longing for more.
