16oz can from the brewpub in Monterey, CA. Pours dark brown almost black with a ring of tan head with good lacing, smell is sweet chocolaty coconut, taste is toasted chocolate malts and coconut sweetness with an hint of bitter/roasted aftertaste, medium bodied with soft carbonation. A macaroon dipped in chocolate.

Canned 12/20/18.
L: Pours cola brown in color, but settles near black. Despite taking it slow on the pour, a khaki-colored 2 fingers width cap formed at record pace but didn't stick around long. Heaps of residual lacing coats the glass.
S: Chocolate malts are the dominant aroma. Coconut is present but not overwhelming.
T: Holy moly this is a coconut bomb. It tastes more like coconut than coconut itself. It's natural, raw and the non-artificial coconut that we all love. Fantastic. I also get flavors of chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, brown sugar and some spice that reminds me of cinnamon and nutmeg. Overall great flavor. As I sit here and drink it, the residual aftertaste of coconut is almost unbelievable.
F: Light to medium in body but a little thicker in weight. Carbonation is moderate for the style. Provides a syrupy coating to the palate. No alcohol detection.
O: This is great. As I drink it, the coconut is so prominent that I'm not sure that I have had anything with quite this much coconut. It's great, and I am always down to drink a brown ale, imperial or not. Alvarado put in some good work! I am very grateful to have tried. Cheers!
