From a fresh bottle into a glass, duh. has a lighter color than some IPA's, but a good nose. Not a lot of head or lacing. Good hops nose on it and a kind of bright taste. I will buy it again. I don't like Richmond things, as a rule, but this is pretty good beer. Drink it while listening to GWAR, reminiscing about your fragrant youth.

From the bottle, it pours an ever-so-slightly hazy amber with a modest head that diminishes to a nice ring and islands. Nicely hoppy/citrusy scent in the nose. The mouth gets a nicely balanced IPA with the citrus coming through balancing well with the lightly malty sweetness. Yum!

Traded for this on Saturday over at the Other Half line, having never had this before nor hearing about Ardent. While not outstanding, this was a good beer that went down easily and hid the alcohol well at the same time. Indeed, this wasn't bitter as it felt more like a Pale Ale or an IPL rather than an American IPA...
Not a bad pour to this as the beer was a nice shade of amber with plenty of long lasting head. Amazingly, this didn't translate into any lacing as there was hardly any to be seen on the side of my pint glass. Tangerine, citrus, and a mild amount of earthy hops were to be found in the nose with more pine coming through in the taste. Soapy and heavy, this beer needed a bit of bitterness and brightness from the fruit to liven it up as it came across as dark and heavy as the label was. It might have been the bready feel that weighed this down, which at least gave this a good amount of body to balance out everything else here.
With a recessed amount of booze, this never felt too strong, even with the mango that came through in the aftertaste. Not a bad first impression from Ardent but this was lacking in a few areas across the board. A beer like this would be better with a meal than by itself, if only for it's ability to counter something just as heavy. Worth a go once for something different from the IPA's that currently predominate...
