Put it this way, it's drinkable if it is the only thing around.
I was on a tiny island in Fiji back in 1999 and Fiji Bitter was all they had at the hostel.
At first I didn't like it but after a few hours it didn't really matter.
I got used to it and fun was had by all who was also drinking it.

375ml stubbie bottle. Why the hell isn't this brewery represented on its own on this site? This is Fiji, not bloody Oz.

This beer pours a clear pale golden amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, and loosely foamy off-white head, which leaves some decently thorough sudsy webbed lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.

It smells of crackery pale malt, a separate grainy mustiness, a touch of plastic/metallic astringency, generic green vegetables, and further herbal, dead grass hops. The taste is sharp grainy pale malt, a mild cooked veggies essence, more isolated metallic notes, a hint of underlying corn pithiness, and bland earthy, weedy hops.

The carbonation is incredibly low and ineffectual, the body medium-light in weight, yet strongly clammy in what would normally pass for smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the lingering corn and barley malt sort of battling it out to the end for my affection.

While it is duly interesting to come across a brew from such a far-flung destination, one which I have not yet had the opportunity to visit, this is hardly worthy of repeat consumption, given its many deficiencies, except, perhaps, if you're stranded somewhere bereft of anything craft beer oriented.

A: Pours a clear light yellow color with a small white head that fades to bits of lacing.

S: Aroma is a bit musty, with some malt sweetness and some grain.

T: taste has some hops crispness, malt sweetness and a bit of grain. Mild bitterness and has a fairly clean finish.

F: Light body, a bit crisp and refreshing.

O: Not a lot here. Beer that goes well with hot, humid weather.

355 ML bottle. The can is a better presentation

A-- poured a clear copper color. Small white head. With swirling get a half finger of head. Some visible carbonation and soapy lacing with the beer.

S-- Grassy, vegetables, slightly metallic, and touches of bread.

T-- Some skunky hop presence (POR I am assuming), grassy, stewed vegetables and a funky metallic taste.

M-- Bitterness comes from a strange metallic taste. Warmer it gets the more obvious it becomes. Metal and plastic. Some bread in mouth.

O-- Can is the better way to taste this. Saw a lot of FB on uncovered trucks in Suva. Highly prone to skunking in bottle format. Taste format is almost the same to VB, also made by CUB. Is it bad? Yeah but on a beach or in a hammock and it is in the 90's and high humidity are you really going to want an Abacus? Some reason it works here. Then again, it is Fiji time.

The flagship beer of Fiji, enjoyed many many times on my recent trip to the islands
A - almost clear copper, short head dissipated quickly, minimal lacing
S - grassy, light herbals, grainy and light buttered bread
T - very pilsner like qualities, similar to the nose but with a light hop bitter
M - light with medium carbonation, slightly more feel than a typical summertime brew but not by much
O - been there, done that, bought the tee shirt, nothing outstanding but it will always be associated with great memories of Fiji

This beer is not good, but it is pretty cheap. I think it only comes in a can, at least, never myself caught sight of a bottle. It's got a macro-lager straw color, a light malty/skunky nose, and a metallic malt flavor. Feel is standard, almost boringly okay. Overall, one to get drunk on, but not much else.

Poured out of a stibby brown bottle, not at all unlike Red Stripe.

Somewhat hazy deep golden color, with a solid half inch of head that dissipates quite quickly.

Notable skunk aroma after a vigorous pour, although I'll not knock this one too hard on the aroma because, after all, it has made one hell of a long trip to get to me in the bottom of a buddy's bag.

The taste is quite nice actually, very noticable malt flavors with just a bit of hop twang to avoid a cloying aftertaste. Quite light bodied, as one would expect with a beer brewed for a tropical island in mind. A tiny bit of cider is noted as well, but I'll have to assign that to the age of the bottle rather than to the beer itself.

Altogether, quite nice on a hot day.

This beer is available only in the Fiji islands. Despite it's name i do consider it in the tropical lager category. A good solid beer that is very refreshing. Has a nice malty base and decent hop bitterness. Tastes good here at home too, as I always buy some to bring home with me.
