The third of the trifecta of "NOHOLDSIES" for me to try.Pours into a large tulip glass a honey tinged golden with a full one finger white crown atop.Aromas are on the lighter side with some of the red wine in there with a bit of toast and butteriness to go with mild phenols.Lightly spicy phenols on the palate with a decent amount of toasted oak and meaty red wine in the finish although not one thing overtakes the beer.Really impressed with Haw River and I shy away from alot of the Belgian style stuff.

Bright orange with a small, controlled white head. Smell is very fruity and wine like... Tart citrus and wine with berries. Taste is sweet, tart, floral, soapy, fruity, and bitter. Nice fluffy, well carbonated texture. Overall good stuff. I would get this again.

Shining brass with a slim ring of a head. Aroma is fruit-forward with grapes, pears, and cherries, but it does have the pale malt base and yeast esters of a Tripel. Red wine barrel finally makes an appearance in the flavor: spicy yeast, cherries, wood, vanilla, and bananas. Briskly carbonated giving it a fluffy feel and leaving the tongue dry. A little acidity too, which seems to work with the barrel.

Had a juicy juice like quality to it that I didn't find appealing.

I don't like Belgians much at all but this I can handle. Very smooth

Poured from a bottle into a snifter, the beer is a hazy, rose-tinged gold coloring with no head. Aromas of peach, grapes, cherries, vanilla, and woody notes, with a musty overlay, and a dry and sweet backbone. Pretty dynamic balance. Flavors are tart and richly sweet forward, with a blend of cherry, berry, and grape. Some cream highlights, with wood spice and subtle char providing a bitter edge to keep an even keel. Surprisingly rounded and smooth in mouth, with a dry edge underneath. The aftertaste is tartly sweet and dry, heavy on the fruit, with a tart linger on the smooth finish. There is an underlying crisp kick in the finish, too, showing the last stab of the carbonation. Good beer.

enjoyed side-by-side with Holdsie Uno (Oak Chardonnay Barrel) and Holdsie San (Oak Bourbon Barrel) all from haw river teku glasses.

a - all three range slightly off the same sienna orange...the chardonnay happens to be the brightest of the bunch and most orange with the bourbon being the darkest and most brown with red wine somewhere in the middle. all had some creamy white head...red wine quietly towed the line as the middle of the road version.

s - the tripel is present in all and easy to pick out when comparing the three. the barrels all impart such a different angle. the red wine is by far the most subdued. if you told me this was the unaged tripel, i would believe it.

t/m/o - the red wine isn't as invisible in the taste as it is on the nose, but this one definitely feels closest to what i imagine the unaged tripel to taste and feel. knowing it is aged in red wine makes me feel like i pick up red wine notes, but it isn't dry at all and nothing really screams barrel about it. easy drinking and tasty tripel none-the-less. the set is very worth picking up and checking out. all excellent beers.

Appearance: Almost a gusher but settled down after the initial pour; in the glass, the beer is clear and golden but the head is unimpressive thought there are some splotches of lace

Smell: Sugar cookie aromatics, with hints of cherry and banana

Taste: Sugar cookie forward, with cherry esters from the red wine barrels assertive; hints of banana and honey, after the swallow as well as a modest touch of citrus; nicely balanced in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Very different from the Chardonnay barrel-aged version, with none of the green apple and boozy aspect; very much prefer this one
