Poured 16.9oz bottle into snifter. Darker yellow and cloudy with a 2 finger white head. Fades to a ring and leaves loads of lacing on the glass. Sweet bread drenched in caramel. Hops bring pineapple, some citrus, and pine. Smell is very pleasant. Flavor is sweet at first, but the hops assault your palate viciously. Pine and pineapple take the first hit, then come some citrus of orange and grapefruit rind. Finish is quite bitter and there is some booze to it. Medium body with nice carbonation. Alcohol is warming and noticeable. A flavor packed IIPA that really brings the hops.

Swung by FtB today to secure some NFL playoff libations. Opted for a 32oz "growler" of Elle, at $10.00 for the refill.

Filled a small tulip with half of the "growler". It is a deep, rich orange color, and it's somewhat hazy. Hard to espy any carbo within, and the head is a thin, off-white layer of fine foam, mostly rim-clinging. There's a bit of nice lace left behind. Aroma is a nice mix of hoppy citrus along with some fruits from the sweeter side, like tangerine and apricot. The body is a bit over medium, and it feels quite smooth going down.

Flavor mirrors the nose, with a solid balance of sweet and bitter. A touch of toasty malt is evident at the start, melding with apricots and clementines. It easily segues from sweet to hoppy, with some oily, resiny pine showing up, along with a smidge of rindy bitterness. This one, to me, possesses a great flavor balance, and it goes down verrry easily, even with a 9.50% ABV. Nice work, From the Barrel! Prosit!

On tap at the brewery in Spring 2015. Just discovered my napkin notes on July 5, 2015.

Slightly unfiltered pale yellow color with off-white head and good lacing.

Pale malts, pine, citrus, and vague vanilla notes in the aroma.

Medium, chewy body.

The taste has a notable tropical and fruity character and ends bitter. Lingering.

A - hazy light amber body with foamy off-white head. Incredible retention and lots of nice lacing

S - citrus hop with some sweet malt

T - doughy sweet malt followed by fresh grassy, pine, and citrus hops. Good bitterness, especially in the aftertaste. Nice spicy alcohol throughout

M - medium body with moderate carb. Sticky and chewy

O - wow, this is a fantastic beer. So many tasty flavors going on. This is a new favorite and I'm so happy to see it brewed in my home state.

Bottle from Bert's
Slightly hazy light golden color with a huge frothy bone white head that shows great retention and leaves lots of stickies on the sides of the glass. the nose was initially lemon and grapefruit but more of the resinous pine moved in as my glass sat. Light faint bready crackery maltiness. The flavor has a hint of sweet bread maltiness with a crap load of tangerine, grapefruit and lemon grass. Medium body with a light to moderate level of carbonation. Nice double IPA, I quite enjoyed this.

Had this on draft at a NH restaurant. Smell was nice up front, but this quickly devolved into a butter bomb. Based on the other reviews I am seeing, maybe this was a bad batch or it doesn't hold up well, but this was a disppointment. I liked their porter a while back, so I'm sure I'll try this brewery again.

Poured from a 32 Oz. growler into an IPA glass. Consumed within 24 hours of the growler filling.
Wonderful fruity hop nose (hit me just opening the growler). Hazy pale honey color. White head with nice lace on the glass. Slight chewiness, and resiny quality to the mouth feel. Moderate bitterness, but a full hop flavor with a fruity element that goes along with the nose. Amazingly, almost no alcohol taste considering the ABV. This is a double IPA that you want to just keep drinking.
