Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Not called "Strawberry Blonde" but simply "Strawberry Ale" - recent name change, maybe? Poured into a pint mug.

Appearance: Pours a hazy orange-peach, with virtually no head to speak of. What head there was formed quickly, and disappeared just as quickly. No lacing whatsoever (at least it made the glass easy to clean).

Smell: Well, strawberries. Kind of muted, however - more like watery strawberries. It's definitely there, however, so you know you're drinking a fruit beer (Not sure why this isn't considered one under styles *shrugs*). Hints of malt in the background, so you know you're drinking a beer.

Taste: Not bad, actually. A clean, crisp berry flavor, with a residual tanginess in the background. Very mildly hopped, but hops are present. Very light, easy drinking flavor. The tanginess did detract from the beer a little bit, IMO, but still not bad.

Mouthfeel: Lightly carbonated and thin, which is perfect for this style. This kind of beer would be an excellent session beer, and the mouthfeel makes it very easy to drink.

Drinkability: Despite the tanginess, very easily drinkable. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. It's very refreshing, and would be great on a hot summer's day. Good beer.

Picked up a single while in the Outer Banks. This beer is all strawberry flavor, but it's really well done. Often fruit-flavored beers will have an awkward malt flavor or an odd, tangy mouthfeel, but this beer is about as good as a straight-up strawberry beer can be. There's a mild caramel taste of the barley, but it's strawberry candy without being too sweet. I wouldn't drink this beer again, but I'm still impressed

Served from tap into a sampler tumbler. Poured yellow-orange with a one finger pure white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, skunk, and very light strawberries. The flavor was of sweet malt, water, slight strawberries, and cream. It had a light feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall I was not really a fan of this one. Everything on this one seemed watered down based on the weak flavors and the weak aroma. Heard a rumor they are closing this brewery to make energy drinks in the future... I would probably do the same if I brewed something like this too.

Sampled on tap at the Brewgrass festival in Asheville, North Carolina. Consumed on 09/20/2008 and reviewed from notes taken at the time.

Walked over to the Carolina tent mainly to try the Pumpkin ale, but then saw Strawberry on as well and decided to jump right in for this one. The pour was very light, almost deceivingly so as it was nearly transparent at times, harboring only the slightest bit of a hay color to it. Rich carbonation could be seen streaming up from the bottom of the glass throughout the session, really giving it that champagne like look with a nice fizzy head on top.

The aroma was of the slightest of pale malts mixed in with a light strawberry fruit like smell. Very light though, this was nice as you don't really want these coming across as sickingly sweet in any way. The flavor was more of the same, very light, very crisp and clean with a nice carbonation profile that really let the whole thing pop and show off some rather nice touches of flavor. Almost like a wine cooler it seemed at times, it was very light. The finish was clean and gone before you even knew it offering me a cleaned palate waiting for the next taste to grace it. It was an easy drinker though I would imagine after a few the taste could drag a bit.

Overall not bad, but hardly a crowd favorite. It was decent, don't get me wrong, and just not full enough for me. Needed a little bit more body and a touch more flavor to really pull it together. Still a decent effort though.

Thanks to Enola for sharing his growler.
Amber in color with 1/2" off-white head that doesn't hang around too long.
Caramel malt aroma with a hint of strawberries. Amazingly it works.
Heavy on the sweet malts. Caramel. Strawberry flavors in the background and more noticable in the finish.
Medium bodied.
Nice drinkable session ale. Nothing outstanding, but good.

This beer started out nicely but head dicepated almost instantly. Bought it for my wife since it was a fruity beer. Sh did not enjoy it. Smells like a fruity Budweisser. Tastes starts off hoppy with a sweet after taste. High carbonation flavor doesn't linger. Got a good drinkability score becasue it is refreshing and not too sweet.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into nonic pint glass.

A - Hazy orange/peach color. A finger of head rises and falls quickly, but leaves a thick collar. Minimal lacing.

S - Much nicer than I expected. A very clean strawberry aroma, if not somewhat artificial. A little bit of biscuit malt hides in the background.

T - Minimal malt presence. A perfume-like strawberry aroma/flavor moves from the back of the throat back up through the nose; very interesting but not terribly flavorful. A bit of a sour twinge near the finish making me wonder if actual strawberries were used. There's certainly nothing offensive going on here, but there isn't enough "beerness" to compliment the strawberry flavor.

M - Almost medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Very well suited to the flavors.

D - Carolina Strawberry goes down very easy. Though the strawberry flavor is more than evident, it's never sweet. My only complaint is that there isn't more of a malt backbone here. As is, this brew stand out as some sort of essence of a strawberry and not much else. Certainly worth a try though.

Possibly the first strawberry brew I have had. The beer is a clear red color with a fair head. The smell is fruity. The taste is unmistakably strawberries. The mouthfeel is smooth as is typical for a lighter beer. Very drinkable as I have had no problem with this growler and could start another if I had it. It would be nice to see this in bottles.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Appearance is a crystal clear orange amber with a small one finger head that dissipated rather quickly leaving no lacing.

Smell is of strawberries for sure pleasant and not overpowering along with some malt. Not bad but nothing complex.

Taste is of ripe strawberries upfront followed by mild malt and yeast. I had expectations of the strawberry flavor being overly sweet and artificial but its works out pretty good in this beer. I good taste but not quite complex.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with good amount of carbonation and a crisp finish.

Drinkability is not bad. It goes down easy for sure and seems fairly refreshing. Not a great taste to be by any means but still probably one of the better fruit oriented beers I've had in a while.

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a ruby color and a slightly cloudy consistency. There was a thin, foamy head that quickly dissipated. Average lacing.

S: A nice, sharp smell of strawberries and malt. Very tangy.

T: As expected, strawberries dominated the taste, but there were also traces of malt and a little yeast. Not overly complex, but enjoyable.

M: A solid amount of carbonation with a mostly dry finish. Light-bodied.

D: As with most fruit beers, you either like them or you hate them. For the most part this was an enjoyable and drinkable beer.

My bottle said "Carolina Strawberry Ale", but I'm going to assume this is the same beer. It poured a light orange color with a small head. The smell was two things side by side, an average beer and Smucker's strawberry jam. The same thing occurs with the taste, there is the standard beer taste up front, and a bit of sweet strawberry appearing in the finish. The mouthfeel was a bit a watery and had some moderate carbonation. I had no problem drinking it, but I'm on the fence about it. I'm not sure there's enough fruit to make people who like to drink fruity drinks instead of beer happy and I don't think the strawberry complements the beer enough to make beer drinkers happy. The result is a real average brew, but for my money I prefer the Carolina Blonde by the same company, it's basically this beer without the strawberry.

bottle poured into a tasting glass. pours a copper/amber color with a half finger of eggshell colored head. poor retention and no lacings.

aroma is of fresh strawberries and lightly breaded malts. little else for the nose with a fresh and flavorful fruit quality.

taste is of ripe strawberries as well, with a bit of yeasty grain on the back end. nicely composed without a sweet note to be had, which is a good thing.

mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fresh and fruity character on the palate. finishes on a crisp note with a bit of residual fruit.

drinkability is good. the fruit is well used here without added sweetness. very authentic fruit beer. cheers!

Purchased a bottle of this from the brewery in Mooresville, NC. Dispenses from a 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass. Dark straw in color, with a light straw colored head. Head dissipates quickly and leaves a film at the top. No lacing.

Aroma is pale malt and slight strawberry. The strawberry is way in the back but is in there. Obviously, this is fruity. Backed by some pale malts and hints of a light german hop that is found in a pilsner (Saaz?). Delicate hop aroma for sure.

Nice flavor. The strawberry is not overwhelming but enough is there to take notice. This is pretty pleasant. Most fruit infused bees taste too artificial and overdone but this one is nice. Gentle malts and hops and even gentler fruit flavors.

This is a great summer beer. With record heat here, this one is fitting the bill perfectly right now. Perhaps the strawberry my grow old after a while, but I think six or seven could easily be handled. Nice job CBB!

Crisp light amber blonde(duh) with a moderate white head that quickly slips away, leaving no traces of lace.

Aroma is dominated by artificial candy strawberries leaving little room for any other aromas to come through. Very light pilsneresque aromas appear when warmed a bit.

Flavor is American macro lager infuzed with melted strawberry Chapstick.

Body is somewhat thin and watery with a forced carbonation mouthfeel and slight residual sweetness. Couldn't finish one bottle. I can only guess that this is marketed towards the younger crowd and alcopop drinkers, as no self-respecting beer lover would want to be seen with a bottle of this in his hand. I guess it's a good product for the target consumer though.

Note: We're going on three years with no alcohol cap here in NC and EVERY other NC brewery has been turning out excellent new and high-gravity offerings. I though for sure CBC would have come out w/ a Double IPA, Russian Imperial Stout, or Barleywine by now.? What's going on CBC? Are you ever going to step up to the plate?

[Best served in a Flute glass]

Poured a medium clear amber with a very small fizzy head that was fully diminishing and had no lacing. The aroma was very concentrated with strawberry's and had a mild hint of sweet yeast and a light sweet malt. It tasted lightly bitter and mildly sweet in the beginning and finished with a sweet-sour flavor that was loaded with the taste of strawberrys. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a lively carbonation. Overall the brew was OK but really not worth drinking again.

Poured from a 12oz brown bottle.

Pours an amber color with a decent head. Not much lacing.

Aroma is slightly malty with a sweet smell of strawberries. Smells a lot like a jar of strawberry jam.

Taste is pretty good. Tastes of malts and grains are present. A slight hop bitterness on the finish. The strawberry flavor is not overpowering, it is sort of in the background. Some of the strawberry flavor seems a bit artificial though, sort of like a mix of natural and artificial flavors, at least in my perception. Mouthfeel is nice and crisp, carbonation seems just right. Pretty drinkable too. Would be nice for the summer months.

Overall pretty good, better than most strawberry flavored beers I have had. I would have this one again.
