When it comes to beer, its there anything that Citra can't do? As Cycle Brewing cranks out a new wave IPA based on the famous hop variety, they capture the devotion of Florida area hop heads.
Bright gold and cast in a mildly diffused glow, Crank IPA rushes toward the nose with a burst of true citrusy oranges and complementary fruit scents. As hints of herb round out the nose, a first sip of seeming fructose, honey and light caramel offer to keep the fruit impressions plump and radiant.
As the sweetness relaxes, the middle palate comes alive with branch ripe tangerine, mandarin orange and valencia varieties. A backdrop of red grapefruit, mango and apricot carry a more complex array of tropical and stone fruit before the bitterness sets in with a clean and sprucy late palate.
Medium bodied and not smooth enough to be hazy, but not bitter enough to be West Coast, this juicy IPA is simply a sip of sunshine for Tampa-area hop heads.

T: Lemon and grapefruit rind, with notes of mango and tropical fruit and medium bitterness and a touch of grass.
F: Medium body, good carbonation.

CAN
Pale orange with a finger of loose white foam that legs; flowers, greasy grapefruit peel, and a touch of honey on the nose; underripe tangerines, key lime pie, dried green mango, and evergreen needles; bitter, oily, round, smooth.
4 4 4.25 4.25 4
May 24th canning - a full 3 months - off the shelf from Total Wine, so I’m expecting some wear on this one. And there is a speck of oxidation on the nose + taste both.
General, though, this is a tart, slick, and layered example of Citra that manages to get both the lighter gooseberry notes and hints of a catty edge.
It’s the body that really satisfies, though, with heaps of hop oil just sliding down.
If this is core range + not fresh, I can only imagine how good this brewery might be.

Cycle Brewing "Crank IPA"
12 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON 08/06/20 10:47" and sampled on 12/24/20
$2.89 @ ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, Wildwood, FL
Notes via stream of consciousness: I've had this beer before but I must have lost the notes. It was at the brewery though in St. Pete's, and this appears to be brewed and canned by BrewHub - not that it makes any difference anyway, that was years ago and I could never remember if it's the same or not. So, let's see... it's poured a very hazy, even cloudy, golden-orange body beneath a finger's width of rocky, slightly off-white foam. The aroma offers some floral character, grapefruit, lemon zest, citrus pith, orange, and soft pine over a grainy malt base. It's not the brightest aroma but I've just reminded myself, as I'm now reminding you, that it's just an IPA. I'm going to guess that it's not dry hopped, although it might be. Regardless, it's perfectly acceptable. Moving on, the taste is much fuller, and although it follows those same notes found in the aroma the malt is richer with an almost honey-like note added to it. There's some powdery floral character, which is slightly odd, and I'm guessing coming from the yeast, and some apple and nectarine. A firm bitterness balances it nicely, and it finishes dry with a touch of that honeys malt steadily fading. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. Overall I'll call it a just slightly unique kind of standard IPA. I wouldn't choose it as my own, but I could easily see lots of people buying this by the case as their go-to beer.

From a 12 oz can dated 06/09/20. Sampled Aug 26, 2020.
Slightly cloudy golden color with a long lasting foamy white head.
Nice sensations of citrus, juice, melon, and a lower profile cereal grain.
The body is smooth and medium.
The taste begins sweet and bready but in no time the citrus juices roll on in and evolve into a medium bitter bite at the finish.

Forgot to rate when I had it. Special Tap Event at the Brew Hub Taproom - St. Louis, 02/01/2020.
Bright, clean, hoppy, and mildly bitter. Sweet citrus emerges quickly with undertones of mango & pineapple. A great clean, go-to IPA.

The equality shines throughout.
Start with the aroma, fine citrus notes. The bitterness softens as the flavor takes over with a great finish. Colder the better on this one!!

Crystal clear gold. Pleasant grapefruit, berry, stone fruit and tropical in the nose with warm malt. Flavor is on the fruity side. Medium light bitterness, medium moderate mouthfeel.

Fantastic IPA. Beautiful citrusy note, with a lighter body. Does not feel 7 percent. Refreshing on a warm Florida day.

Came across a couple of cans while visiting in Florida and brought them back. Beautiful looking beer with dark yellow and amber accents. Hoppy goodness on the nose and bursting with flavor. Lots of hops for a tropical sort of IPA. Citrus and pine notes with a bit of malt on the finish. Really refreshing mouthfeel. This beer was a huge surprise for me in a good way. I know their stouts are great, but this is a phenomenal IPA.

Pours a chill hazed light orange with one finger of creamy white foam. Smell: tangerine, lemon-lime, dried grass. Taste: sugared grapefruit, lime, orange peel, grassy; sweet. Light-medium bodied, body is a bit sugary without a whole lot of carbonation to cut through.

Pours cloudy medium-dark gold with a one finger dense silky off-white head.
Aroma is not too strong but has solid citrus notes, all hops.
The flavor is just-right sweet up front with a fresh, floral tangerine and grapefruit flavor. There is a bit of pine that comes through in the mid-taste, but the hops ride through to the finish and don't morph much. That makes for a very pleasant beer.
Feel is soft, but not overly so, and has a little effervescent without much bitterness.
This is a very refreshing beer, bursting with wonderful flavor and brewed very well. Should be a no-brainer to try it when in the area. Hats off to my man Batch for bringing it back up north in a suitcase. Dedication to the fine art of loving beer is a quality worth striding for.
