A fun one to crack, but unfortunately past it’s prime. Drink ‘em if you got ‘em.

Hazelnut still prevalent on the nose, but oxidation sneaks closely behind. Palate w/ muted cinnamon & hazelnut; fruity undertones & an oxidized finish.

Good, but would’ve loved to try fresh. Good barrel heat as it warms.

A stark, slappy gloppy black lands in the glass, topped with a dense, creamy tan foam settling to a thin but soft persistent film and moderate collar.

Smell is uber Nutella! Chocolatey hazelnut goodness with even a little peanut is helped along to adult territory by oak, then skirts back into Halloween dessert land with a hint of cinnamon candy. Accents of charcoal and whiskey skip along in the background.

Taste is tangy with a little kick of cinnamon whiskey enveloped by luscious, thick, smooth, round and decadent hazelnut chocolate ice cream checkered with roasted Spanish peanuts. There's a slight warmth as it glides down, with a red apple aftertaste and a semi-dry, tingly finish.

Got this one from desp in a recent box. Cheers!

From a bomber into a snifter
Bourbon barrel THEN cinnamon barrel-aged hazelnut imperial stout

APPEARANCE: Clear black pour yields a three finger, fizzy, crackly, foamy tan head with half-decent retention. Black body with no real carbonation evident. Foamy head crackles down to a good film and clings slightly to the glass. Half wisp remains leaving some decent lacing on the glass as it empties. This one finishes alright but the initial pour and head leaves a bit to be desired.

SMELL: Piles of hazelnut all over this one. Comes oozing out of the bottle upon opening. Cookies and cream on the nose with cookie dough and milk chocolate as well. A touch of bourbon and oak fight through with some light cinnamon notes, but this is very much a hazelnut show.

TASTE: Hazelnut, sweet vanilla cream and cookie dough up front. Some light cinnamon and notes of bourbon in there with some alcohol at the swallow. A bit of booze in there, moving into a bold and lingering finish of hazelnut, chocolate chip cookie dough, milk chocolate, light hints of cinnamon and oak. A light bourbon presence is there too but it’s quite restrained. This is very much a hazelnut forward beer.

PALATE: Medium-fuller body with medium carbonation. Silky on the palate, enough weight as well, goes down smooth with a bit of a bite and finishes somewhat sticky. A bit of heat lingers.

OVERALL: If you like hazelnut stout, you’ll love this one. The nose and flavor profile is very nut forward, though if you pay attention, you’ll find some decent character coming from the nut additions, as well as a touch of cinnamon and some barrel presence in there as well. The feel supports the show very nicely as well.

On tap at the brewery. Black body with a small mocha head. Smells of whiskey, rum, and hazelnut. Tastes of strong alcohol throughout. Whiskey, hazelnut, bright chocolate, and cinnamon. More alcohol. Never really mellows out or tastes rich. Heavy and sweet. Less dynamic than the other treatments, though the hazelnut flavor is nice. Gets a little bit of green pepper as it warms.

Bottle from Ditlove Dark brown pour, tiny ring of head . Slick. Hazelnuts first on the aroma, chocolate. Cinnamon becomes more prominent in the taste. Mild sweetness, velvety smooth. Kind of milky too.
