27 April 2020 - Beer #79
Corona Day #46
Price: $29.99 at Berkeley Bowl West in Berkeley, CA
Appearance: 3 - absolutely pitch black. The very dark great fizzled away like soda. There's a giant glob of coconut just sitting there. Gross. Eww!
Nose: 5 - the barrel presence is outstanding. Not much chocolate or coconut, but the sweet barrel is incredible.
Taste: 5 - the largest presence is definitely the barrel. The chocolate and coconut are complementary pieces. I'm good with that.
Mouth: 5 - super thick and syrupy. You really get the chocolate on the mouth, like you're drinking chocolate milk.
Overall: 5 - another decadent treat. Back to Fauda.
Cheers!

A nice, rich imperial stout with good flavors and aromas. Pours a deep, dark rich dark brown color with some tan head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells of nice medium chocolate fudge, roast coffee, vanilla, caramel, roasted nuttiness, malt and some faint coconut. Taste follows the nose, but man that coconut hits you and it’s freaking great! Well-balanced, not overly sweet or overpowering, not too tropical. Just the right amount. Smooth, slightly chewy, creamy mild mouthfeel with just the right amount of carbonation. Well done!

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of deep chocolate notes, fudge with some residual sugar notes are also perceptible. Taste is a mix of deep chocolate notes with some sweet notes, some fudge notes with some light bourbon notes. Body is full with good level of carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Solid party stout with more balance than expected.
