Crowler, about one week old, served in a Cigar City snifter 3/13/2015 in honor of the Hunaphu's Day festivities. I had this rated at 3.75 before (without a review), but don't remember the full experience so I'm taking the time to review this in full.

A- Dark brown body, pretty much looks like a porter, nice two finger tan head with good retention and very nice lacing.

S- Lactose, mild toasted malt, milk chocolate. Not particularly strong or impressive as far as the smell goes, but it certainly smells the part of a milk porter- plenty of milk chocolate, even with a bit of roasted coffee bean, like a cafe americano.

F- Lactose, milk chocolate, toasted malt, roasted coffee bean. Solid, very tasty milk chocolate sweetness with a bit of that toasted malted porter with a nice roasted coffee bean finish.

M- Thinner-medium bodied, slightly watery, but still reasonably tasty. Good carbonation especially out of the crowler.

O- This is pretty solid. Nice lactose sweetness makes for a nice mild milk chocolate and coffee experience. The flavour seems to be driven by the adjuncts here. Different, not necessarily better, but different.

Poured on tap at the brewpub, the beer is a dark brown-mahogany coloring, with a foamy, filmy, clingy, light tan head. Aromas of roasted coffee, subtle bittersweet chocolate, and hints of char. Flavors are heavily roasted coffee, bitter and rich, with a creamy sweet overlay. Dry, light bodied, with a roasted and chocolate sweet aftertaste. Dry, smooth finish, with a subtle bittersweet linger. Solid beer.

Dark brown with light tan head. Big big brown sugar in the nose with some coffee. Flavor is light creamed coffee up front with big brown sugar through through the mid and aftertaste. Some milk chocolate too. Quite sweet with a medium mouthfeel

Pours a somewhat thin looking dark brown, which appears black in the glass except a noitceable reddish brown hue around the edges and a thin ring of light tan foam around the rim of the glass.

Pungent aroma of fresh brewed coffee and heavily roasted malt. There is a faint caramel like sweetness that lingers, as well as a sweet aroma of fresh cream.

This is brings a punch of fresh coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, and heavy sweet cream flavors. Tastes very much like an iced coffee with a splash of milk, a pinch of sugar, and a bit of carbonation.

Full-bodied, low-medium carbonation, roasty, creamy, and sweet.

Overall, I can't say enough good things about this beer. I love the simplicity of this beer with just enough creaminess and sugary sweetness notes to balance a delicious coffee base. Drink it for breakfast!

Mini Growler from trade – Thanks @Doppelbockulus!
Notes taken on 08/31/14– to my Barrelworks Brewco snifter glass

A: Pours like it might be overcarbonated or infected but that is not the case. An unrelenting sudsy tan top just continues to billow on upwards. Took me several attempts to even get the glass half full. Seems to display more growth than any actual dissipation. Finally reveals a thin dark coffee colored brew. Some faint sticky residuals are eventually left stuck to the glass.

S: A subtle espresso roast greets the nose with fresh coffee house aromas and dark chocolates close behind. I get some highly kilned grain and there is a touch of dark berry fruit there. Fairly nice and inviting but nothing too in your face really.

T: Freshly roasted coffee with some dark roast malts, cocoa powder, and mild dark fruit components to it. Really this is mostly all coffee and it’s a house blend. As in nothing to bold or daring but quite fresh and tasty. Lightly bittered and just super frothy light. It virtually bounces on the palate. This one is going down with ease.

M: Super light and thin. As in the lightest body I have ever experienced in a brew yet. Almost overcarbed even. Clean, crisp, and dry in the finish.

D: Interesting brew. I mean it is super tasty but nothing outside of a good cup of joe. It is as if they set out to create something more like a table coffee rather than beer. And I would say they were quite successful if that is the case. Extremely sessionable especially on this Sunday morning. This is probably wondrous on draught. Not so sure growler be the best format. Not one you would probably hunt down but a very nice to try.
