Awesome place, and usually have lunch here on my way down to San Diego. Awesome tap list, great pizza, cool staff. If you're not into pies and brews at a chill pace, don't bother. Cheers!

I was in San Diego on biz and made a point to make a pilgrimage to PP as I'd not been there for a decade or longer. They're still holding strong, with more suds goodness on tap than I reasonably [and safely] could enjoy. I had a superb Citra IPA, a coffee/chocolate laced Stout and a dandy ESB. I appreciated PP's laid back scene and the friendly atmosphere; the place was full of families, bikers, beach hounds, and beer fiends just like like me. If that appeals to you, by all means, stop by. I'm sure it can get pretty crazy during the peak summer months but whatever delays you endure will be worth it.

Great atmosphere with great beers and selection. Food was good, but definitely made better by the beer. Would happily return and recommend to friends.

Another San Diego (area) stop. This place was a lot of fun. Food was very good, nice selection of beers and our bartender was very engaging. Spent a lot of time with us explaining how things ran and just talking about the brand itself. Would love to spend more time.

Lots of IPAs offered, had a hard time choosing, so I relied on the bar staff.

Ponto Session IPA 3.25 out of 5
Stratosphere IPA 3.75 out of 5
The Fish IPA 3.5 out of 5

Food: Had a BBQ chicken pizza, which was excellent.

It's located on the main drag, so park and walk

Great rotating beer selection and amazing pizza. What more can you ask for? Oh that's right, not having 100 kids running around while you're trying to enjoy them. I swear every time we visit there is a little league or soccer team celebrating something. We still put up with it because the food and beer are top notch. And the bottle shop/tap trailer next door is really nice as well. You can drink bottles on premise or to go which is so nice.

We stopped for a late lunch after hitting the beach with friends. Cool, California beach crowd with both locals and tourist. Beer hit the mark and food was as expected for a pizza joint.

Ordering food was no problem, but getting beer was slow at times. Server was knowledgeable on Wee Heavy's which you don't normally find.

Parking in the back. Worth a stop, but if crowded, it's probably not the best place.

There is no service. I don't get the novelty here - you wait in line to order food, you wait in line to order beer, you have to hustle for a table. Food is mediocre. Beer is solid. But why bother?? Blech.

The vibe and energy in here is always good. There always seems to be a crowd, but especially crowded around meal times, especially on weekend. So busy in fact that the wait for ordering food and grabbing a cold beer can be a real pain. parking out back off street, and on street and adjacent parking lots. Loses points for crowds/waits/parking. Its a seat yourself concept which can be a real hassle with a large group when busy and the beer/food lines intersect. I have never been disappointed by the quality of the food or the overall beer selections. No tasters though or bottle sales, although they do have a bottle shop next door. Video games etc for those inclined. a mix of seating options from park bench style to high seat/table options. inside and more outdoor covered open air options. I have driven right by on several occasions just b/c the line to get in has stretched out the door and you cant tell if its the food/beer/or seating line it can be that chaotic. If you're really motivated, drop the family at the door to grab seating/food line whilst you grab parking. Its in a nice area overall, with tons of other local shopping and a few blocks up from the ocean. Never used the bathrooms so cant comment. Timing is everything at this place. Honestly, I've had a more comfortable and overall more pleasant experience at the nearby Bressi Ranch brewpub. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Awesome location, food is the same as all other PP locations (really good), but the beer selection here is sick thanks to a "beer store" next door. Get your food, walk next door and grab a special/rare beer and hang out in the back garden area. Perfect way to enjoy a San Diego evening.

Final stop of our trip for the day, if you don't count the bottle shop next door, is to Pizza Port for some dinner. Atmosphere was great. Tons of people inside, as well as out on the patio area, enjoying themselves helping to create quite a buzz. Quality was solid across the board. Food and beers were top notch and the space was well maintained. Service was pretty good. I didn't have to wait very long for my beers and the food is self serve so that was on us. Selection was awesome, they had a ton of amazing beers on that I had quite a bit of fun trying. We decided to get our pizza to go since it had been a long day. We got the margarita and it was great but I am not the biggest fan of thicker crust but that is on me not them. Prices were reasonable so no big deal there. Overall this was my favorite of the two Pizza Port locations we visited thanks to their above average selection. I will definitely return next time I am in the area.

My family and I spent around $45 for drinks, appetizers and a large pizza. The prices are reasonable for what you get. The food was great, hot, and tasty. My only complaint was the bar line. It took me 10 minutes to get a pint of their red ale, which was outstanding. My kids were tired and unable to wait for daddy(me) to have another beer. The line for beer was long about 12-15 persons standing in line. They had two bartenders working and line seemed slow or I was anxious to get some great beer. I think it was people were undecided about the excellent selection available. My wife would like to visit again. We were there for around 5:30 p.m. Great overall impression, excellent beer, and great food. Will visit again when in the area.

Visited here for the first time while doing a beer tour of all the local breweries and bottle shopping. Atmosphere was great from the minute we stepped inside. The beers on tap were amazing. We got a seat at the end of the bar and did not have to wait long for the friendly and very helpful staff to welcome us and give us a beer list. We had Pliney tE as our first round of the evening and accompanied it with the beer bites which were really good. We then ordered the Margerita pizza which was good but just a little underwhelming. We stayed until close, enjoying the atmosphere, the great beer chat with the bar tender and the couple sitting next to us who also gave us some great recommendations for other "local" micro breweries and beers to try. We also visited the bottle shop next door and came away with some really good finds including RR Consecration and Blind Pig. We are heading back in July and this will definitely be a stop.

Atmosphere - Pizza parlor atmosphere, complete with picnic tables and video games. Surfboards hanging from the ceiling. Small patio (with more picnik benches). Industrial looking bar. Very casual. The place always sems to be happening. Very cool!

Quality - The quality of the pizza and the beer seems to be top-notch.

Service - Friendly beach kids are behind the various counters.

Selection - Plenty of in-house beer on tap (20+) plus a good selection of guest beers.

Food - Really good pizza!

Value - Great!

What a great place! They brew very good beer here. There are a couple big screens but the cool music soundtrack is what you hear. The pizza is good. I highly recommend this place!

This is one of my favorite, must-go-to brew pubs. First, the atmosphere is fun and very relaxed, with a So-Cal surfer vibe, and a packed house that is always there to have fun and relax with a beer and some pizza.

The quality of the food and beer are both exceptional. Their house beers are what you'd expect from one of the best breweries in Southern California with an emphasis on their hoppy pales and IPAs. Not to shy away from being adventurous, they also brew many stouts, and English styles brews, and pretty much a Kitchen Sink approach to craft-brewing imagination. Upon any visit, I can expect something wonderful from them. Their guest list is usually very fine as well.

The service is generally very friendly, with regular tenders that I recognize from a few years back are still around to this day, suggesting that this is a family like crew who are passionate about serving good beer.

The selection is not as expansive as some bars, but there's usually a something for everyone inclusiveness, so no matter what kind of beer you're in the mood for, there's something very fine to be had.

Food: the pizzas are some of my favorite in So Cal and features very eclectic topping choices, including house recipes and create your own combos. The "Beer Buddy" bread sticks are also terrific if you simply want a snack with your yummy beer.

The prices are all very reasonable, with pints priced in a normal range, even with several 9% and above ales. But still others will be served in smaller glasses. But where else can I get a 16oz. pour of an Imperial IPA for a normal price? Excellent!

This place smelled amazing and the beer crust pizza is fantastic. The staff is friendly and patient despite the large crowds, and the beer selection is vast (includes their own brews and guests on tap). Delicious pizza aside, Pizza Port offers quality beer and a fun atmosphere suitable for barflies and families alike. I went on a Sunday during playoffs, so the brewpub was a touch louder and lively than I care for, but ultimately Pizza Port Carlsbad is a place I'd go back to again and again.

There are a few Pizza Ports around So Cal and we went to two of them this past week. It's a really great pizza joint with a fantastic beer list. Atmosphere is very casual surfer decor. Quality was great and we would go back again when we visit So Cal. Service was fantastic, very friendly and when I forgot to order a drink and went back the girl just gave me a glass and said it's on the house. As I mentioned before they have a fantastic selection of beers. Many of their own and a very good offering of guest beers. They usually have Pliny but dont put it on the menu so you have to ask for it. As for the food, the salads are huge and can feed up to four people. The pizza is very good and I had buddy bites and they were delicious. The value here is great for what you get.

LOVE this place. Great beers - always new and impressive beers to try. I was lucky enough to go once when they had an exceptional amount of barrel aged beers.
Lots of variety and guest beers on tap. They have 4 bars in the San Diego area.

The food is... well...Pizza but again they are exceptional, great choice of toppings and lots of ingredients to make your own, plus salads are good.

I bought a beer glass to add to my collection for $3 which once again is great value.

Cant say enough about this place. Just wish I could buy bottles of there Bacon and Eggs! :)

My first visit to a Pizza Port was the Carlsbad location. It has a nice family friendly atmosphere with some arcade games for kids, TVs for sports, etc. They have about 20 Port beers and 15 guest beers on tap along with some bottles I believe. I like the fact that they offer taster pours of all of their taps up to pitchers of certain beers. The quality of the beer seemed to be high for all but 1 of my samples. The pizza and other food (Beer Buddies and Portzel) was really tasty too. Service was good, more from the bar than the food area. Prices are pretty reasonable for both food and beer. I will definitely be back again.

We visited here for a weekday lunch and found the atmosphere to be quite pleasant with none of the Chuck E Cheese craziness others have commented on. The decor is a surf theme with seperate areas for ordering beer and food. The tap selection was fantastic and everything we tried was great. There were several Port taps - and not just the regular stuff - as well as many great guest taps. The pizza was quite good, we couldn't complain about the service, and prices were reasonable. Overall we really enjoyed our visit.

A different stlye of brewpub, Pizza Port takes a more European approach to seating and makes you fight for a space at one of the long tables mostly populated by little league baseball teams when I was there. After ordering your pizza you have tons of time before it's done to wait in a second line to get your beer (and finish it and go order a second). Service is essentially non-existant as it is limited to POS purchases. The astmosphere is very lively and if you're lucky and outgoing enough to sit by some good people you'll have an unexpected and pleasant evening of conversation. The bright side is with 25+ rotating taps of only the best beers available, you should have no problem getting the outgoing part taken care of. I haven't been to too many places that have Belgian's and taps from far and wide in addition to their own creations like barrel aged stouts and nitro DIPA's, all for $5-$6. Certainly a place to stop by and give it a try.

Well, yeah, maybe visiting on a Sunday during a Chargers game was not the best idea. But our remarkably low key visit to the (significantly smaller) Ocean Beach location an hour before did not prepare us for the madness that was Carlsbad.

Boy is this place big. Miles of picnic tables, a huge bar, lines 10 deep to get a beer or order a pizza. Loud too. We finally got two seats at the end of the bar where the couple of Raiders fans in the place were congregated watching the one TV that showed their team.

It was worth the wait though as the tap list was stellar. Lots of Pizza Port brews, great guest taps. Pizza was pretty good, and prepared rather quickly.

On the whole, this place had the vibe of a Chuck E. Cheese crossed with a sports bar. Just as many kids, lots of noisy football fans, albeit with far superior food and beer. If I had raised my kids near here, this place would have been my regular stop. At this point, I don't think I'd be going often.

Let's get this established first - the beer here is outrageously good, the pizza is excellent and the price is nice.

And yet, I didn't really enjoy my visit. I found the dining room insanely loud and confusing. It was a punishing experience to eat here and I might be disinclined to go back because it is so chaotic.

On the upside, the tap list is huge, including Port offerings and an impressive selection of regional and national competitors, which was cool. The staff was friendly, if a little rough around the edges, which pretty well described the customer base too.

This is much better than San Clemente. Like the SC location, there is little parking around at night, so don't be surprised if you park your car a block away. But don't let the parking situation get to yuor head, as you will be greatly rewarded.

It's not just a place for beer lovers, but also a place for kids too. There are long benches and tables for families to gather, several video gaming machines, a long bar section running on the left side of the place, and an easy to spot order spot for both the food and beer. The place was nearly packed before 6pm, but that didn't stop me coming in for a quick drink.

Roughly a dozen Pizza Port beers brewed at the Carlsbad location, and another 20 or so guest taps. There's a great mix of styles, ranging from the lighter Twery to the more alcoholic Stickly Stout and even a brew with sour cherries. I received my Twerp in a tulip, which tasted very good and was presented well. But generally, expect your beer to be served in the usual shaker. Pitchers are also available as well.

It may had been a short visit, but it was totally worth it. And for sure, the Carlsbad location warrants future visits.

Pizza Port is an excellent place based on quality, service, selection, food, and value. It can be an excellent destination for atmosphere if you go at the right time.

Starting with its strongest points, the quality of their beers is amazing. Regardless of your personal preference, they have a beer on tap for you. Their service is absolutely excellent. Everyone there knows their stuff and is more than willing to impart knowledge on their customers. Great selection with numerous beers on tap, and like I said, I haven't found a bad one yet. Food is reason enough to head over to Pizza Port. Some of the best pizza I have ever had. Not too expensive either.

The atmosphere could range between a 2.0 and a 5.0 depending on when you go there. Personally, I am preferential to having my own table or booth. The seating here is all long picnic tables, similar to cafeteria seating. This is all good when the place is at half capacity. However, if you get there when the place is packed, you'll spend half an hour creepily hovering over seated diners waiting to snag their seats. Then again, the fact that the place is so packed despite the lack of seating is testament to all the things that they do right.
