I visited the Carlsbad Pizza Port on a Sunday at lunch time. The place was pretty full and there were people of all ages--it seemed to be very much a family place (at least at this time of the day). The pizza my party and I had was great and the pizzas that I saw others having all looked really good, too. They had at least 15 of their own beers available and maybe 10 beers from other brewers (including Stone, Russian River, and AleSmith). I had 12 samplers (4 for $3.75). I have to say that the two stouts they had on tap, Old Viscosity (9.5%) and Sticky Stout (8%) were both excellent. Although both were strong in alcohol content, there wasn't a strong alcohol taste. Their Brickhouse Barleywine and [Name?] Wheat Beer were both exceptional as well. A number of the other beers were quite good, too. My only complaint is that the samplers were really pretty small--smaller than any other Brewpub's that I have been too. Still, I can definitely recommend Pizza Port as a place to get good beer and good pizza.

Awesome place, and usually have lunch here on my way down to San Diego. Awesome tap list, great pizza, cool staff. If you're not into pies and brews at a chill pace, don't bother. Cheers!

I was in San Diego on biz and made a point to make a pilgrimage to PP as I'd not been there for a decade or longer. They're still holding strong, with more suds goodness on tap than I reasonably [and safely] could enjoy. I had a superb Citra IPA, a coffee/chocolate laced Stout and a dandy ESB. I appreciated PP's laid back scene and the friendly atmosphere; the place was full of families, bikers, beach hounds, and beer fiends just like like me. If that appeals to you, by all means, stop by. I'm sure it can get pretty crazy during the peak summer months but whatever delays you endure will be worth it.

Great atmosphere with great beers and selection. Food was good, but definitely made better by the beer. Would happily return and recommend to friends.

Another San Diego (area) stop. This place was a lot of fun. Food was very good, nice selection of beers and our bartender was very engaging. Spent a lot of time with us explaining how things ran and just talking about the brand itself. Would love to spend more time.

Lots of IPAs offered, had a hard time choosing, so I relied on the bar staff.

Food: Had a BBQ chicken pizza, which was excellent.

Negative:
It's located on the main drag, so park and walk
Bottle shop opened at 5pm

Great rotating beer selection and amazing pizza. What more can you ask for? Oh that's right, not having 100 kids running around while you're trying to enjoy them. I swear every time we visit there is a little league or soccer team celebrating something. We still put up with it because the food and beer are top notch. And the bottle shop/tap trailer next door is really nice as well. You can drink bottles on premise or to go which is so nice.

We stopped for a late lunch after hitting the beach with friends. Cool, California beach crowd with both locals and tourist. Beer hit the mark and food was as expected for a pizza joint.

Ordering food was no problem, but getting beer was slow at times. Server was knowledgeable on Wee Heavy's which you don't normally find.

Parking in the back. Worth a stop, but if crowded, it's probably not the best place.

Food & Beer was great. It's a beach joint and self-service so it was a pain to get beer refills when lines got longer, but a great spot overall.

There is no service. I don't get the novelty here - you wait in line to order food, you wait in line to order beer, you have to hustle for a table. Food is mediocre. Beer is solid. But why bother?? Blech.
