Presentation: 330ml ‘All-Aluminum’ Can. Silvered Can which has dark purple decorations, similar but not the same as the avatar on BA. Listed at 5.0% alc.vol. and as “San Miguel Super Dry”. Described as a “Clean, Crisp Taste Premium Lager” on the front, with further explanation on the side that expands “….is a premium lager that is uniquely smooth, crisp, with no bitter aftertaste, giving you a totally different beer experience”. The letters “HKDNP” are stamped into the lid either side of the ring-pull whilst the base has a freshness date of 06APR07.

Appearance: Yellow golden body with a thin broken covered head. Cheap Lager looks with a healthy dollop of streamers to keep the thin scattered head barely alive.

Nose: Soft nose with a harsh finish, minimal strength, sweet malts and a gentle soapy tingle. Not much else at all here.

Taste: “No bitter aftertaste” is advertised and it lives up to the billing honestly. Thing is, there is hardly any malt either. In fact there is hardly any of anything!!! The start is almost flavorless, whilst the ending reminds me of dry-ish pale pilsner malts with the barest hint of some sweetness to tackle this one dimensional brew.

Mouthfeel: Incredibly thin, but the dry finish somehow imparts a delicate feel rather than a watery one, but it is far from rewarding though it quenches a thirst with little residual flavor to “annoy” you whilst doing so.

Drinkability: Yet another pale golden colored San Miguel brew that neither excites nor repulses. Probably a “fare dinkum” offering whilst enjoying a hot humid sticky day in the Philippines - but it is nothing special whilst taking it easy on a Tuesday night in Long Beach.

Overall: Another San Miguel brew which was dragged back from the Philippines by a colleague that knows that I like to try new brews. Fortunately the poor looks are probably not that significant given that this is Canned, but sadly the lack of bitterness, moreso any flavor, and the thin pale dry finish makes for something that flies well underneath the radar. Nothing ventured, nothing gained - but nothing at all here!

Probably good for quaffing in the Philippines on a hot, humid day. Could use some malt and perhaps additional hops. Very light yellow colour, with no head on pouring. No aroma and no flavor, like a light mexican beer, and very watered down. Definitely not a zymurgists' favorite.

Very pale yellow colour, with absolutely no head. Zero aroma and pretty much zero flavour, very watery mouhfeel, and very thin bodied. Kind of like Corona or something.

Was disapointed with this beer, was expecting a clean tasting but dull as all hell lager like the other super-drys I have had...

Colour is so pale that I am wont to call it a Color as it resembles BMC products. At least the head is a stayer, not very long but still thats something, often evidence of (at least some) malt.

Mouthfeel is super-carbonated, taste is fleeting (no aftertaste, dare I say no mid-taste) but not something I really like. Has the strange "fruity" taste that I associate with island beers such as Vallima and Red Stripe, possibly something to do with the brewing heat. Admitedly both of the aforementioned are contract brewed in other countries but there you are.

Awesome to see "Pilsen" on a label for once however, full marks for that!

if it wasnt for the fact these fellas own boags, id demand they be barred from importing this tripe into australia. it is one of the crappest beers ever imported to these shores. i guess with all the other rubbish in this country, they thought they could sneak this in and people would think it was good. unfortunately for the most part theyve been right.

pissweak looking color, no head whatsoever. tastes a lot like cheap cask wine, moselle or lexia. smell is the same. thats the only reason this beer can call itself dry. and considering i can get twice as much of that drivel for half the price, id take the cask. and theres no way youd ever get me drinking that shit!

im not sure what the obsession is with extra dry lagers at the moment. golly if you want that as i say, drink chardy or something. dont give brewers a reason to put out beers like this.

I found this at the local Gaisano Mall Supermarket. I thought it was kinda pricey at 60pesos for a 12oz bottle ($1.25) but I thought I would give it a try. My first impression was how citrus smelling this beer was. Poured a nice straw yellow colour and had a decent head which led to nice lacing. The taste of this beer was crisp, clean and suprisingly sweet. I found it to be a very refreshing beer after an afternoon spent at the pool. Later I had another bottle with dinner (Fried chicken, gravy, rice and kamote salad). It was the prefect compliment to the food and had a nice clensing effect on the palate. I reccomend this highly as somthing out of the ordinary mundane that characterizes most San Mig products.

Consumed 2/21 in Makati City
Poured in to a stange

A: This beer pours a transclucent, straw yellow with a one finger of bone white head. Head recedes immediately leaving no real lacing to speak of.

S: Nose is grain, grain, grain, and a hint of grass.

T: Taste is grain and grass at the forefront with an oddm lightly malted sweetness that is cloying.

M: Light body, medium carbonation at first with an odd, dry, yet slightly oily finish.

O: Goes down a bit rough, not overly tasty, not filling, mild kick, not a very good representation of style. On to the next beer - please let me find something that's drinkable here!

A clean and clear yellow hue, when this one poured I could tell I was in for something utterly and completely...lackluster. The head was white and fizzy; it dissipated way too fast to nothing. It had a lot of carbo that made it seem to have some spunk but it only looks spunky. There was almost no smell to it at all, what was there was a little sweet and toasty malt. Slightly sweet with a hint of malt and nothing else but carbonation gives this a nonexistent taste. A sweet and crisp feel at the front and a dry and clean at the back was about the only good thing about this brew, albeit the watery lightness kind of takes from it. This beer for me kind of feels like the Pilipino version of Budweiser, but I drink it with pride as it was a gift that came straight from a store somewhere over there.

330ml bottle poured into a pint glass

Clear pale gold color with thick white foamy head that gradually sinks to some bubble sheet atop and leaves lots of lacing patch and spot.

Clean and mild nose of lager yeast, biscuit and grain, a bit grassy and herbal hop.

The taste is exactly 100% like the aroma with almost no real hop bitterness.

Light body, crisp, clean with refreshing feeling, semi-smooth mouthfeel and dry finish.

Easy to drink and proper matching with spicy cuisine.
