Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head fades very fast leaving only a trace of lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is very skunky with a moderately strong smell of grain and hay. Along with these smells comes some sweet aromas of a corn syrup, producing a rather skunky adjunct aroma overall.

Taste – The taste begins with a bit of corn syrup sweetness mixed with some bready tastes. As the taste advances some grassy and hay flavors develop along with a little bit of skunk. In the end, a little bit of caramel and grain come to the tongue as well.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is thin with a carbonation level that is rather average. More carbonation and even less body would have likely been better for the skunky, corny, and grainy tastes of the brew.

Overall – Not a very good brew in my mind. If I am looking for an adjunct I would much rather go a Bud, Coors, or Miller over this. Not really a worthy competitor in the adjunct category.

This is an okay beer. Its barley flavor is a bit overpowering for me - not much else going on. I know some people like that, so I respect it for what it is. It's still not my favorite and all comes down to just being okay.

Poured from a chilled 12 oz. bottle into a lager glass.

Pale yellow color with two fingers of head and plenty of aeration. Head dissipates slowly, not much lacing.
Aroma: barley, barley and barley all the way -- in a good way. Reminded of the first beer I ever had in my life (London Pilsner -- not available now).
Taste: Classic lager taste, all barley. Very refreshing.
Mouthfeel: Nothing unusual -- the taste doesn't quite linger the way it does for other beers.
Overall: Great introduction to lagers. If you live in a hot humid climate like the Phillipines, this is the perfect beer!

12oz bottle, 2 cup Pyrex, no freshness markings.

It looks like the American Adjunct Lager it is. Pale yellow with a quickly dissipating white head. The bottle is very cool, with the squiggly shape found rarely on some Mexican beers and a cool old-school painted on label.

Smells of hay, slight hop mustiness.

Tastes of almost nothing. Lager flavor in the middle, with a finish that is surprisingly devoid of flavor. Lilting malt flavor into a clean aftertaste.

Water for mouthfeel, less carbonation than style average.

There are many like it and I'm sure this cold one would refresh you on a hot day as would the others. It is very clean.

Pours a clear light golden color with white head. Cereal grains on the nose, with maltiness; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little sweet lager flavor.

Brewed in the UK by Carlsberg,
Pale yellow.
Yuk aroma - no further comment.
Sweet followed by light bitterness. I guess plenty of people out there drink this stuff.
The colder the better.

A- Beer is clear and transparent, light golden yellow, foam innocent, delicate and long-lasting.
S- Beer has a very strong aroma of malt and floral, sweet and grains, but very short. It is easy to recall the taste of the rice fields.
T- Beer is very refreshing, very malty taste, and a hint of sweetness.
M- Beer is light. Too short, but it thirst. There is no burden in your mouth.
O- Beer is extraordinary flavor, great sense of the affection. It is suitable for a drink at summer in California. Coupled with the hot pot is very suitable.

Being a pale larger, it had a nice clear pale and inviting look to it. I'd honestly give this a 3 mostly because it stopped being so lively not long after hitting the glass.
It has a malty smell with a hint of hops to follow. Having a strong dark roast with citrus as an afterthought.
Up until recently, I've been drinking Coors Light so the flavour of this made my night. While Coors is quite weak in flavour, this had a nice burnt flavour with a lovely sweet and slightly bitter after taste. From what I can tell, something generally expected from pale lagers.
The mouthfeel was a let down as it does go flat quite quickly. When drank at the start, it felt crisp, light and carbonated. But after a while, it felt slightly oily over my tongue and cheeks. Overall, this does come quite high in my favourite beers up to date with an overall experience of 3.25 as the look and feel let me down more than the smell and taste was enjoyable.

Purchased as a single at the LCBO. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass.

A- Opens well and pours a 1" head that is gone in less than 30sec. Clear and light gold color. Like a Heineken.

S- Very similar to a Heineken. Almost the same.

T- A bit like a Heineken but less hops and malt. It's a light Heineken

M- Dry and light. Very north American like.

O- Very much a Heineken that has been watered down a bit. Not one I will buy again.

Food Pairing

This ok beer went well with...... Anything a Heineken is good with such as light BBQ meats like a hot dog or mild sausage.

Enjoy

Format: a pretty awful-looking 500mL macro can.

Appearance: pours out a strong yellow with moderate visible carbonation. A limited head fritters away quickly to a scrappy film.

Aroma: a very light aroma of some sweet grains and an off floral of some kind.

Taste: again a light flavour of off florals and sweet but cheap grains. Not terribly impressive.

Aftertaste: the flavours drop away pretty quickly, which suits me fine.

Mouth feel: light to medium in weight, but still a bit flaccid due to the moderate carbonation. Mediocre.

Overall: definitely not one of the best lagers I have ever had. Pretty ordinary in aroma, flavour and feel. I don't think I'll bother with this one again.

I hated, hated, hated this beer. The worst possible combination of watery and distasteful. Plain horrendous. Avoid, avoid, avoid. At least it looks the part I suppose.

San Miguel is probably one of the most easily accessible lager in Hong Kong. With relatively cheap price compared with imported brands or Blue Girl, another local preference, it remains popular among Hongkongers.

A: nothing special, maybe a bit yellower compared with European lagers

S: some smell of malt and hop

T: very mild with an aftertaste of some sugar

M: very high carbonation. That's all

O: mediocre lager with nothing remarkable. Find better choices if possible.

a: typical lager clear pale yellow

s: grain, corn, hops

t: grains, hints of apple, a bit of sweet corn, ending with a leafy tea-like bitterness, with slight metallic notes on the back end

m: light body with high carbonation

o: probably one of my favourite lagers. there's nothing interesting happening in this beer but there's nothing offensive about it either. drinkable and somewhat tasty

A ton of DMS. I can't get past the high levels of DMS to accurately review much else. I can only smell corn, no hops. It is fairly dry, but can't get over the DMS. I can't taste any malt, only cooked corn.

It is golden and clear. It has a very thin head that disappears very quickly.

I've never tasted a beer with so much DMS.

Pours clear yellow color with a small white head that faded fast, with OK lacing.

Smells of sweet malt, caramel, herbs, tea leaf, grains and some husk; very sweet overall, with a nice malty nose.

Tastes of sweet malt, caramel, herbs, maple syrup, tea leaf, grains, wet what bread, hay, grass, light floral hops and some husk or vegetables; the aftertaste is sweet and malty with hints of brown sugar.

Mouthfeel is light and crisp, yet chewy and medium bodied at the same time, with light carbonation that's on the fizzy side, with a a sweet bready aftertaste.

Overall basic and average in every way, but a decent beer for any malty brew fan.

Meh.

Pours a fizzy goden color. Medium head settles quickly.

Smells of cheap beer, alcohol, no discernible hops or malts that I'd take home to meet the folks.

Taste is...well, meh. Kinda like a boring pale lager. Nothing really interesting here. Nothing terribly offensive, just forgettable.

Mouthfeel is a bit fizzy, but not too bad.

Overall, I'd drink it at a party (unlike swill such as Coors or Miller!), but I'm unlikely to buy it again.

A: Pours a medium golden yellow in color. The beer has a finger tall white head that reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer with some thicker patches and a thicker ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to heavy amounts of lacing are observed.

S: A pretty mild smelling beer overall, there are hints of apple juice and grassy hops.

T: Not as sweet as the smell might have indicated, there are some sweet apple juice notes as well as the grain and rice adjunct malts. Light amounts of grassy hop bitterness.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin/watery.

O: Easy to drink and sessionable - would pair well with spicy foods and it would be refreshing in a hot climate.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that gradually died down but never completely faded away and left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: The smell isn’t that strong and has some fruity notes of apple juice in the aroma.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has light flavors of apple juice along with some hints of adjunct malts such as rice.
M: It feels light-bodied and a bit watery on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: There’s nothing overly special about this beer, but it is easy to drink and might be a refreshing choice if you are in a hot tropical climate.

Poured from a 275 ml bottle into a glass. Perfectly average color, white head dissipated fairly quickly. Decent amount of carbonation bubbles at the start. Some lacing.

Not a lot going on with the smell, some light fruit and grain. Smelled fresh and clean.

Taste was okay, a light sweetness (apple, not citrus) at first and mild bitterness that combine fairly well. Could stand a little more hops. Not unpleasant. Tried to taste a little lime, but it doesn't come through.

Could tell it was beer, a little carbonation came through.

A very average lager, no skunk. Certainly would taste refreshing on a hot day but nothing really special.

A - Clear medium gold in color. Head is white with moderate retention. Last longer than you would expect. Also seeing some lacing. Not much but there's some. Slightly above average on appearance.

S - Corn, corn husk, faint grains and a metallic twang. Pretty standard on the nose.

T - Starts off with some corn sweetness and some grains in the background. A slight hop bitterness through the middle. A clean finish with no lingering aftertaste. Better than its American counter parts in my opinion.

M - Surprisingly pretty drinkable. Clean mouth feel and crisp carbonation make for a decent AAL.

O - Not to shabby. Would I buy a six pack given better choices? No. Although if all that was available were AAL I think this would be a good pick.

12 oz.

Pours a pale yellow gold, sudsy white head dissipates over a couple minutes.

Corn sugar malt sweetness in the nose.

Taste is very light and smooth, corn sweet malt.

Feels thinner with light bubbly carbonation.

Kind of like any of the American macros, but sweeter. Glad I can say I tried it, but wouldn't have it again. Too much corn.

currently traveling through SE Asia and sampling the local offerings. this is fairly popular throughout the region. beers here are almost entirely light-bodied lagers meant for fast quaffing in the blazing heat and humidity. all ratings are based on my understanding of the style here.

A - pale gold, tight-bubbled head w/ decent retention

S - very little smell. maybe some grain

T - very clean. does not gain any slick corny sweetness or sour notes as it warms

MF - very crisp, very light, good carbonation

O - not meant for over-analyzing, this is meant to be refreshing after a long hot day or paired w/ spicy hot food. this is easily enjoyed and there's no reason not to reach for one when traveling over here. strongly recommend against pulling this off an American shelf because I just don't see how such a light-bodied lager can survive the long hot travel. I've had beers like Tiger in the States and hated them but here they're fine. That's not to say this is something special, it's simple beer designed for specific circumstances and it hits the mark

San Miguel is another base American Adjuct Lager that offers a slightly below taste than othe standard macros. The color is golden clear with decent carbonation that forms a head that dissapates quickly. The smell and taste are powered by grain. Mouthfeel is fine especially for warmer days. Overall....eh.
