On tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy bone colored head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy latticework of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and slight tropical fruit aromas. Taste is much the same with a citrus zest flavor on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice fruity aromas and flavors.

Had this beer on tap at OB Noodle house, San Diego CA.

Appearance - Nice blonde to light amber hue. Reminded me more of the SRM on Pliney (golden and light).

Smell - Lots of grassy notes. Not as resiny and pine-like as most west coast IPA tend to be. A more appropriate balance of citrus, grass, pine, resin.

Taste - Taste follows suit. Well balanced hop flavors. Showcasing a strong west-coast hop profile, yet balanced and refreshing.

Mouthfeel - Best part about this beer - the combination of bitterness and dryness. The beer finishes with just the right amount of lingering bitterness, only to be cleansed by the (what I assume to be) high attenuation.

Overall - A solid IPA.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours goldenrod with a medium white head, leaving excellent thick lace, great to look at.

S: Notes of lemon and citrus, grass.

T: Grapefruit, lemon, some tropicality. Upfront and very direct pinpoint hop flavours. Fresh tasting with a nice malt balance, very much in a West Coast style.

M: Medium-bodied, very clean to a point where it reminded me a lot of Sculpin. Crisp and refreshing.

O: Brewed in Japan, but tasting like a beer brewed in Southern California. A bit pricey, but an excellent example of the style.
