Brewed by:
Arcadia Brewing Company
Michigan, United States

Style: American Pale Wheat Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
Brewed in the style of a mid-19th century English Festival Ale, this unfiltered wheat beer displays a translucent orange color topped with a creamy, white head. Wheat enhances the mouthfeel of the beer and produces pleasant bread-like notes while Michigan honey provides a caramelized sweetness in the flavor profile. This beer is spiced with orange peel and coriander and small amounts of three hop varieties pleasantly counterbalances the sweetness.

Brewed with Michigan honey.

Eye: I've seen much better wheats. This one has a small poor head and isn't as cloudy as one would expect for an unfiltered wheat. Color is orange with light yellow highlights. Not impressed with the head retention, head formation and lacing on this brew.

Nose: Overall weak aroma. Some sweetness from the malts- caramel, also some fruity notes, little bit of honey aroma as well. Not too much going on with the hops. This brew doesn't have all that complex of an aroma nor is it very potent.

Tongue: Not too complex on the palate either. Here we've got a nice simple average wheat brew. Caramel notes take the most dominant position on the palate. Also some honey notes, wheat character is also there. Pretty clean all in all. Slight alcohol taste/warming sensation.

Mouthfeel and Drinkability: Light bodied and higher levels of carbonation are what one expects from this style and you'll find it here. Slight warming sensation from alcohol. Also a semi-dry finish. This is easy to drink, however I'd much rather have Oberon in my hand. It could be refreshing but there's nothing all that special about it to make me want to purchase it again.

This is a hazy orange beer. It smells like oranges. It tastes like very acidic wheat beer that someone has added orange syrup to. Maybe this is kinda what Berliner Wiesse is like? The mouthfeel is syrupy with acid sting. I am not into this beer. If you like oranges though, give it a try.

1st smell - I can't put my finger on the distinct smell of this brew. Very unique, a good smell; maybe some oranges.
1st taste - This beer had a good taste. Some wheat flavor in the first sip. Similar to a Blue Moon, but this one was a little more bitter. Maybe some more hops in this than Blue Moon. Surprising to me, there was a strong presence of alcohol in the aftertaste. The beer is only 6.1%, so that seemed a little strange. Nonetheless, this was a good beer, and I would like to drink another.

One of the first really warm and sunny days this spring in Michigan make me reach for the Whitsun. Whitsun is gold to copper in color and hazy. Peaches and wheat aromas are present along with a faint honey sweetness. Honey wheat and a light citrusy sweet taste. This one goes down so easy, it is very refreshing and highly drinakable. Low carbonation with a medium body. A great seasonal that I love to enjoy with some barbecued chicken in the summer.

This beer tried being something it wasn't. The hops were a bit too pronounced for the style and it did not blend well. But it was drinkable I guess, especially on a hot day.

This beer was purchased at Jungle Jims for $7.99 for a six pack. The beer was served into a pub glass.

Appearance: The beer has a nice hazy peach coloration. The head was a short lived creamy white coloration.

Smell: The yeastyness of the beer drives the smell. The beer has a nice sweet wheat roll smell. This is bolstered up by citrus and peppery coriander.

Taste: The beer is driven by astringent yeast and sweet wheat. The beer has the undertone of pepper and citrus.

Mouthfeel/ Drinkability: The beer is light bodied. The beer could use a bit more carbonation. This is a ok beer drink; however I will not buy this beer again. There are all kinds of other great wheat beers available.

This is an odd beer, and as a representation of the American Pale Wheat style, this one just doesn't cut it. It looks good, with a nice amber hue not much lacing, some head retention. The nose has a very berry like flavor, in the neighborhood of blueberry, strawberry, raspberry.

The taste is definitely fruity, with that silly berry aroma coming into play in the taste. There is also a slight taut citrus flavor, some ABV in the background, a lousy aftertaste. Oh, This beer is a mess. Not good, down the drain it goes.

Holy orange creamsicle! This beer pours a hazy orange/yellow with a small head that quickly collapses.

It both smells and tastes exatically like an orange creamsicle! Sure, in the taste there is a slight powdery hint of corriander at the back with perhaps a twing of (hop?) bitterness.

Most unusual. I could see myself enjoying one of these on a sunny day . . . but never more than one. Heck, I can barely complete the 12oz.

A nice hazy golden wheat beer. I can't describe the head as it was unfortunately served with an orange (which was immediately removed). I just feel like a jackass if I ask for no lemon/orange in my beer, especially if I'm not sure if they're going to use one in the first place.
Anyway, the nose is excellent. A refreshing sweet and tart whiff of lemon, and subtle wheat/grain. Taste is good, with a sweet orange wheatiness that gives way to a malty finish. Flavors are subdued, but overall pleasing. Mouth feel is light, but good for a summer beer.

In a pint glass the beer was a hazy amber color with a small off-white head.

Outdoors aroma. Spicy. Some fruit, rather sweet. A little on the faint side.

Spicy coriander taste. A little orange.

On the lighter side.

Nice enough, nothing to write home about.

$4 bottle from Buffalo Wild Wings in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

Appearance: Orange sort of color with a nice two finger head on it. I don't recall the clarity on it, since I wasn't paying too much attention. Decent lacing. Pours pretty nicely.

Smell: Refreshing. Quite a bit of citrus, with some slight hoppiness.

Taste/feel: Also refreshing, with plenty of citrus and grain. Reasonably high carbonation to help with that, yes, I'm using the word again, refreshing flavor/feel. There's a solid amount of orange and orange peel sort of oil/bitterness in this brew, but yet it never becomes overwhelming. Surprised the alcohol is 6.2%, as it feels like an even 5%, but what's an extra percent? Anyway, I'd gladly have another.

a -- dark yellow, to light orange in color, lots of head (foam came rushing out of the bottle as soon as it was opened)

s -- smells pretty much like your average wheat beer, with some odd tangy and cinnamon notes

t -- ugh. tastes like someone poured a bud, and then ever so lovingly mixed in an overly ripe orange, and a cinnamon pop tart.

m -- mouthfeel is fine. average.

d -- never again.
