This 18th Century-style Smoked Porter has subtle accent of peat-like Bamberg smoked malt, which is apparent in both the aroma and flavor. It is brewed with seven varieties of premium European malted barley, resulting in note of bittersweet chocolate and coffee that are counter-balanced by a long-sustaining finish of Goldings hops.

Unknown vintage; drank 7/21/15 @ the Yarchives.
Brown/black appearance.
HUGE tan head; minimal lace.
Toffee, sea salt & faint raspberry notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Mild raspberry & faint milk chocolate flavors up front; a slight metallic finish.
Not very good.

The beer pours a dark coca-cola colour with a thin brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate. and molasses. No smokiness that I can discern. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, burnt wood, dark chocolate, and licorice. Quite good.

Dark, nearly black body, light tan head. Not very impressive bottle art, to say the least. Nose has good roasted malt with some char, but an unfortunate amount of piney hops and floral soap note. Glad to taste that the hops totally drop off, leaving just a nice chocolate and caramel flavor from the malts, touch of the soap but it's not unpleasant. Dry, with bitterness from the roasty malt and a touch of hops (but no hop flavor). Light-medium body.
Tasty dark brew, nose kinda turned me off but the flavor picked up the slack. Not sure how authentic 'London-style' this was, but it was good nevertheless.

Look: Dark brown with decent tan head. Amber on the sides as it is more transparent than opaque. (3/5)
Smell: Smokiness comes through strongly. Chocolate and roasted malt also present. Overall a pleasant aroma (3.5/5)
Feel: Medium bodied. Very smooth especially for 7% abv. (3.5/5)
Taste: Smokiness comes through again. Some charred flavors are there to accompany a nice sweetness of chocolate. Roasted malt is not as strong as in the aroma. (4/5)
Overall: One of the better porters I’ve had. I like this as an example for a porter versus a stout. Good beer by Arcadia. (3.75/5)

Appearance: Brown pour with a ruby red tent when put up to the light. Two finger beige head
Smell: Roasted malt, caramel sweetness, an artificial dark fruit note, leather
Taste: The first thing i noticed is how much smoke is in the flavor compared to the smell. Moderate roasted malt presence, big Smokey character, with a undertone of that artificial dark fruit
Mouthfeel: Light medium body; Goes down fine but the bitterness is pretty substantial, especially for the style
Overall: This is my first offering from Arcadia, and I am a bit disappointed. It doesnt have your typical porter characteristics.. The roasted malts had some potential but it was overpowered by a strong smokiness and slight artificial dark fruit notes. It was almost borderline offensive to me. Its also too bitter, especially within the style. For $12.99 a six pack i expected much better. I will not be revisiting this, and am hesitant on trying another offering by Arcadia. Not recommended
