Appearance: Dark, coppery-brown body with slightly off-white head with quick dissipation. Clear bodied with obvious filtering. No lacing.
Smell: Modesty malty, sweet aroma, no hop presence. Nutty, caramel undertones.
Taste: High malt sweetness with chocolate and caramel complexity and medium-low bitterness. Finish is medium with aftertaste of sweet malts and minimal hop bitterness. Hop presence is light and fruity. High alcohol presence on finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation - I would prefer slightly more carbonation but current level is acceptable per style. High alcohol content.
Overall: A fantastic American Brown Ale with 8.5% ABV that absolutely sneaks up on you if you try to down a six pack. Not over-hopped nor is imbalanced. This is nowhere near a Brown IPA and represents a true American Brown Ale style. This is my favorite Oyster City beer and arguably their best year-round commercial product.

Has a nutty flavor that has a bit of an alcohol bite to it, it also leaves a strong aftertaste. The alc/vol is pretty high, so a 6pk should get you where you need to go.

I was turned onto Hooter Brown Ale while staring at all the different ales thru the glass doors on the beer cooler in my local Publix. So many choices that late hot summer day but a random patron suggested "Hooter Brown Ale" but he preferred to drink it in the fall. Well it was summer and any Ale chilled to the right temperature goes down smooth In my book so "Hooter Brown Ale" it was. My go to Ales are Belgium Whites Ales or Hefeweizen but today it's gonna be a Brown. I was pairing this Ale with a 24oz Porter House steak and boy was that a good choice....or what! Hooter Brown did not disappoint, it's rich flavorful hues paired really well with the steak. No need for a baked potato, salad or yeast roll when your enjoying a delicious Brown Ale from Oyster City Brewing and this Ale is definitely on my all year around Ale list.

A little sweet, but well balanced brown ale. Strong. Smooth. Great for winter

If you live in Florida give this Oyster City Hooter Brown Ale a try. Straight up the most notable aspect is the high APV at 8.5% that will get straight to business. From the can to my glass pours out a strong dark brown ale. A yummy tan head floats at the top with plenty of carbonation. There is a bready smell with hints of dark fruits. The drink is a smooth roasted malt, sweet dark fruits, and hints of chocolate and bitter hops. Others have said there is a nutty and caramel flavor, but I don’t detect those notes and it might just be the honey flavor that provides a buttery sweetness. This review is now seriously too hard to type after a few of these beers. Wow I need a nap, the world is spinning, oh man I like this beer.

Dark brown in color with a murky complexion. There’s a fingernail of brown around most of the rim and covering a third of the top. The aroma is of caramel and chestnuts. I’m tasting caramel, chestnuts, and a touch of alcohol. The mouth is lightly sticky and boozy. This is more of an imperial brown ale.
