Atmosphere: A 65/35 Cross between a sports bar and a brewpub. Seems like the local place to watch the game before the local brewpub. Good friendly crowd. (Football starting at 10AM is weird, good but weird)

Quality: Ok beer. Nothing bad, but nothing great. Their IPA, cask IPA, and Double IPA were good. But in SD you're IPA should be better than good.

Service: Very good. Quick, friendly, and seemed to know most of the people there.

Selection: Pretty good brewpub selection.

Food: Decent food, nothing special. Better sports bar food and beer option than I've seen in many places.

Value: prices were pretty reasonable.

Went to Oggi's at Liberty Station for lunch and some brews. Typical American Grille vibe, beers were so/so. Felt like a chain restaurant. Nothing noteworthy, but it was next to our hotel and we were waiting to check in and hungry, so it served its purpose.

Nestled in a back corner of Fenton Plaza, a fenced-in patio was outside, on the extreme left, facing side. The main entry was to the far right and opened onto the m.d.s. to the immediate right, with the kitchen just beyond, still right. Following a sea of standard restaurant tables and chairs, the brewhouse and several FVs were along the back wall, behind a glass wall. Further left, down a short pathway were the lavs. The bar area was to the extreme left and featured an "L"-shaped, blonde wood bar that overlooked the patio area. Sitting there, it dawned on me that my uncle had taken my brother and I there in 2002. R.I.P., Rick!

Beers: CA Gold; Duck Dive Hefe; Paradise P.A.; Hop Juice; McGarvey's Scottish Ale; Sunset Amber Ale; Torrey Pines IPA; Black Magic Stout.

I first went to Oggi's and was very disappointed with the food and the brews. As I later reflected on the experience I realized it was just bad food and ok beer. So a couple of my buddies and I went back and sampled the beer and had a pizza. I have to say out of the two experiences with Oggi's... both were just average. I will not go back to any Oggi's pizza. I will only support Pizza Port as far as San Diego Pizza and Brew goes! And I don't think they deserve the time for a much more in depth review.

Nice pizza place with good beers, and a bunch of TVs showing games.

I tried the IPA, a solid beer, that would probably score 4's across the board.

Service was really good. When the server found out I liked beer, he brought me a couple of free samples of other beers he thought I might like too. Very cool.

Selection was pretty good. They had a handful of their own beers, and some guest brews as well. Not a bunch though...

Food worked for me, good old fashioned solid pies.

If I lived in San Diego, and friends wanted to go for pizza, I'd certainly recommend this place.

Probably the best one in San Diego. Big, with a decent bar area and patio. TV's everywhere with games on. Good pizza, sandwiches. Recommend the Philly Billy. Standard 6 beers on tap ranging from APA, IPA, and Imperial Stouts. They have 3-4 seasonals that rotate every month. There used to be a rotating IIPA, now its either Green Flash (the name, not the brewer) or Hop Juice. Its hit or miss on the other seasonals. If they are good, they are gone quickly. If not, they stay on the board forever; I'm looking at you March Madness in August. Most of the wait staff is good, though there is one guy that is awful.

Stumbled across the Mission Valley location of Oggi's as I was in the same shopping plaza to stop at the Sprint store. Decided not to pass up an opportunity to visit. This location is off the Friars Rd exit of the 805. Plenty of parking in the large strip mall lot, although the are does get busy during the lunch hour.

The interior is pretty much a sports bar atmosphere. The space is open with TVs all around. The bar is on the left side with the restaurant seating taking up the rest. There is a small patio as well.

Oggi's has 10 taps plus a cask beer. The beers run the gamut from Light to Oatmeal Stout with a couple interesting brews mixed in like a Double IPA and Steam Beer. Overall the beers were about average.

Service here was pretty good on a weekday lunch hour. The bartender was quick in serving beer and bringing the food and appeared pretty knowledgeable about their beers.

I had a salad at the bar for lunch and it was pretty good. I have had the pizza at a different location and you cannot go wrong with that.

Overall I would not make it a point to stop at Oggi's in San Diego with all the other world class brewpubs nearby but it is worth a visit if you find yourself passing one like I did.

Stopped into Oggi's a few times now I used to go to the one up in Vista but a recent move has got me closer to this one.

Ordered up the Sweet Spot Hefe for starters and a pizza.
The food was pretty good if you like a doughy pizza crust.
After the Hefe I ordered a Torrey Pines IPA, I liked this one better. I got a taste of the IPA on cask as well and I liked that one too.

The service was not that good, my waitress didn't seem to know anything about beer. When I asked for a sample of the cask, she looked lost and need help from a co-worker. Maybe she was new?

A couple days later I stopped in for an IPA, I asked the barkeep if they offered any of the Big Beers (double scotch ale/douple ipa/barley wine) that I had tried up in Vista. The bartender explained to me that each Oggi's had there own brewer and sadly no Big Beers here.

I'll be stopping by again for some beers and to sample some more of the menu.

This brew pub was a disapointment. When I sat down, I unrolled my silverware, and found the knife very dirty. It had crap all over it. I couldnt believe that someone actually rolled it up. The beer selection was lacking. They had the basics: IPA, amber, hefe, and stout. But they were out of stout, which was a real disapointment. I had the Scottish Ale instead. It was decent, but nothing great. They didnt have a very good food selection. Pizza, and a few burgers and pastas. The pizza was average. There were about 8 big TV's to watch the game on. That was probably the best thing about the place. All in all, I will probably not go there again.

Like other reviewers have pointed out, the service can be iffy. However, the waitresses I've had lately are very nice, they're just not as attentive as they could be. I've found that if I'm really friendly, they come back often enough.

Some of the beers I find pretty bad (Scottish ale), but some are great. The Sunset Amber and the IPA are both excellent, and you can't beat Monday and Thursday when it's $7 pitchers. They even do a good job of cheeseless pizza which most places can't pull off.

Overall, not perfect, but worth a trip for good food and with careful ordering, great beer.

This is a regular spot for me. I've brought many people here and they all seem to like Oggy's. This is the spot if you're looking for happy hour specials.

Though I've seen complaints about the service at the bar section, one thing to keep in mind is that it's just that...A BAR. It's a small bar waited by 1 bartender and it can be a bit overwhelming for that person when people are drinking and ordering from the menu. If you plan to eat and want good service then I would recommend sitting in the restaurant area. Otherwise, be patientt. Everytime I've been there for a quick stop for BEER ONLY I've never had any complaints about the service. The service is consistenly friendly in the restaurant and patio areas.

The food is tasty, and I recommend getting their specials on Tuesdays (wing nite) and Wednesdays (Oggy stix). My lady doesn't drink, but going for just the food is good enough for her.

There are a couple of beers I like on a consistent basis, which is their Torrey Pines IPA and their Black Magic Stout. All other non-seasonal beers don't do much for me, but seem enjoyable by other people I've taken there. They have some interesting seasonals that roll on through. If you happen to hear about them serving their barleywine, GO IMMEDIATELY...it's just simply amazing.

The atmosphere is relaxed. There's an outdoor patio with tables and serviceable for food and beer (something to consider if you're someone in your group smokes). The place is kind of small, but you can sit in the bar, patio, or restuarant areas and have a totally different feel (kudos to whoever made the floor plan). The staff is friendly (as well as the patrons). And with their food and beer specials I've NEVER walked out of the place feeling like I've spent too much. Heck, I don't even feel guilty leaving a hefty tip. Recommended.

update 4/2004:
I repeatedly see reviews about bad service. I always get good service and I have been going there about once a week for 2 years because I get good service, no matter which night I go. Sorry, guys, but I have to put in a few good words for the staff.
