this is really fabulous beer, perhaps somewhat less fruity than i though, especially in the context of the plum cut they do, which i thought was quite a bit more fruit forward than this one. just a light pink to purple hue going on in a very soft whitewashed looking brew, fluffy short lived white head. looks very elegant, fizzy and active, mellow though too. the nose and taste are the same, lots of tartness, but it isnt necessarily acidic, i think thats the real genius of a lot of casey beers. that mix of brett and bugs, it produces such a unique funkiness, and its on display here for sure. the plums seem well behind the base wild ale though, more of an accent than a leader. there is a tang from the plums, more of their skins than their flesh i think, less juicy and ripe, more piquant. soft and fluffy base here, nice and grainy, belgian pils and a little wheat i would guess. works as a nice companion with the fruit, but i think the fruit could really be scaled up in this. i dont miss it, but i wonder if i would be able to identify it as plum if i didnt already know. carbonation is active but not sharp, the whole thing feels expertly refined. i need to try some of the other fruit editions of this to compare. i liked the plum, but think the fruit aspect was a little tame, especially next to the cut. expert quality overall though, all the casey beer is.
edit: had a bottle of this from 2016 last night, two years or so old now, and its changed a lot, and for the better. for one, its crystal freaking clear, far more so than i remember it being, and right to the bottom of the bottle too. furthermore, the grain seems less, the sourness more, and as a result the plum itself stands out a bit more, tart and sweet alike, the whole thing so delicate though, really brilliant right now, the cellar has done this really well! raising a few scores to reflect how good its drinking now...

Honestly thought this was going to be more jammy fruit to the face, which actually what the beer actually is, is much more interesting. Bright bronze body, clean pour. Smell features plum, red grape, peach, cherry, slight funk, and oak. Taste incorporates the same flavors with some lemon and yeast, with a sour and slightly acidic finish, but as it warms it gets thinner in the flavor profile. Feel is well rounded, but doesn't captivate with sour, acid, or fruit, just kind of plain but well done.

750 mL bottle. Pours hazy pinkish orange. Smells of plum, a bit of acidity, and yeasty earthiness. Tastes of plum fruitiness that slowly turns sour. Yeasty flavors are secondary, but there. A bit of plastic. Strong sour plum finish. Medium body. Very nice plum flavor, even if it's the only real flavor.
