Vibrant, almost neon red with a minimal bubbly pinkish white head that dies quickly.

Man oh man this has some really bright, nearing acetic red wine oak with red grape and woody funk on the nose, but the taste is a nice and perfect woody sour with dry peach, plum, grape and lemon.

After only a couple bottles, Casey continues to impress me.

A lot going on here. Oak, subtle vanilla, grape skin with a hint of funk. Taste follows suit, but with a mineral like taste, similar to a wine. Very fruity beer with a dry finish and lovely oak balance. Tart, but not overly sour. I really enjoyed this and wish I had more. This was a great beer to share with wine fans and sour fans alike.

From a 750 ml bottle (dated December 8, 2015) to a large wine glass. Reviewed from notes dated April 2, 2016.

A-The head fades immediately leaving a collar of pink foam around the glass. Underneath is a deep magenta colored beer with really pretty hues of purple and pink. The liquid is murky and mostly still in the glass.

S-The aroma is intense with fruit. I sniff blackberries, blueberries, and (of course) Cab Franc grape notes. Dry oaky notes and vanilla compliment the fruit. The beer is very tart, but not mouth puckeringly sour. Lightly funky like many of Casey's beers.

T-The taste is similar to the smell. Fruit suggests blackberries and blueberries. Acidity is moderate to high and the beer is quite tart. There is a nice dry bite of fruit that really does taste like wine grapes. The fruity, yeast, and barrel play really well together.

M-The body is medium to light for the style and the carbonation is clean and crisp. It never intrudes.

O-This is a really good beer. The fruit is great and the feel is a near-perfect match for the style. You can really taste the Cab Franc grapes here, but you know you're drinking beer and not a beer made with wine must.

750ml bottle. Served in a brandy snifter glass.

Pours a beautiful dark purple-reddish body, not unlike a lighter red wine. One finger white and lively head, good retention, not much lacing. Smells of red grape skin and must, a slight grainy sweetness, which rebounds back into a massive fruit rollup-like red grape aroma as I swirl the beer. Touch of oak, and actually a fair bit of the house lemon zest and yeast aromas. Flavour is similar, minerals and yeast contributing a touch of the house flavour, but otherwise the cabernet franc grapes are at the front, middle and back of this beer. Absolutely wonderful musty yet jammy dry grape presence with a touch of cereal behind it. This works quite well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, not too thick, and reasonably dry without being watery. A lot of depth to this beer. Overall, if this is any indication, the CFP series makes the Fruit Stand series seem like watered down fruit juice. I will have to make more of a concerted effort to seek these out in the future.
