Had this on cask at Prime 16 tonight. I loved NEBCO's East Coast IPA in the fall and was super excited about the release of this DIPA. Matt from the brewery said he was aiming for a more 'west coast style' dipa and man he wasn't kidding.

A: Orangeish, big beautiful head that leaves streaks upon streaks of lacing down the glass, head retention is about 1/8"

S: My favorite part of almost any beer, this one is classic, big beautiful floral grapefruit/pine nose, that is quite complex

T: Starts out strong, briefly letting you think you can control it before your taste buds kick your ass with the closing bitterness. Dry and bitter, this one doesn't fool around. If your a hop head, be prepared for heaven. I've never had the Plinys or some of the more famous DIPAs, but I'd compare this favorably with Stone's Ruination, Captain Lawrence's Captain's Reserve, and other favorites. flowery, grapefruit, orange, citrusy, etc.

M: pretty full for a DIPA, but thats the way I like'em

D: I consider it a session beer, but those less obsessed with hops may not want to assault their taste buds all night (and the abv sneaks up on you quick)

have since had it in both growlers and cans and it is a little less of a bitter bomb in the aftertaste, but still super delicious. The cans are particularly good for keeping it fresh. Love the 16oz tallboys.--> the updated rating is from the can version
