A nice biscuit/cracker taste right off the top, slowly settling into mild hops. Carbonation remains low but present with each sip; the rising bubbles telling the story from vat to glass. Definitely worth trying!

Appearance: Pours a clear, crisp lager color with a pillow white head that lingers. SRM of 8 (3.75)

Aroma: Initial aromas of some mild grassy hops and lemon citrus Some bread and honey. Strong honeysuckle residual on the nose. (3.5)

Flavor: Initial hop flavors of grass and lemon citrus. Then a peppery hop flavor with carbonation wipes that away before the wave of honey biscuit malt comes through to take over completely. Finishes mildly sweet with a lingering honey on the tongue. Lots of tart lemon and honey. Sweeter than I expected. (3.5)

Feel: Medium to heavier bodied. Slightly syrup lingers on the palate. No bitterness. (3.5)

Overall: This is a decent representation of the style. Yes, it has an American lean to it with the strong lemon citrus . It does the Saaz hops well so it reminds me of a German-hopped blonde. A little too sweet & poorly refined for me and too much blonde and honey. I would compare it to a Zwickel with a fuller body and much sweeter. It would be worth comparing this to an American Wheat or Zwickel. It's everything I want in a wheat beer, but too sweet for my liking. (Final Rating 3.52)

Golden yellow lager body with a finger of white foam. The smell is pretty light: pilsner malts and grains, biscuit, and grass. Taste has classic czech pilsner flavors, especially in the bready malts, but gets a little rough on the edges with grass, slight booze, and harsh grains. Despite this super drinkable and decently crisp, but could be refined.

12oz can, "canned by hands" on 06/06/17

Great looking beer: golden, see-through, thin layer of bubbles that sticks to the glass. Smell is clean grains and hops. Taste is also very clean and hop-focused: Crackers, malted barley and piney citrus hops.

I love a pils that focuses on hop flavor. This is one of the best in that category

Poured into a iced pilsner glass from a can, it flows into the glass and deposits about a half inch frothy head, that stays for awhile. Golden amber color, tastes a combination of breads, some hops and light fruit. The taste sticks with you and changes to a non-bitter finish. I told my wife to try it and she said yes its not as hoppy as those other beers you get, its good. There are hints of fruit but not overpowering, nice balance, a lot going on for a pilsner. Not much carbonation, but very smooth feel on the way down and it is a nice change from all the IPA's out there. Smell is easy and fresh. Will definitely be picking up another 6 pack.

Appearance: Clear and golden on the pour with a frothy meringue-like head; nice and sticky, the head deposits lots of foam on the glass

Smell: Citrusy like an IPA, with undertones of pilsner malt and grassy notes

Taste: The pilsner malt lays down some biscuity sweetness and then the citrusy hops take over, bringing mango and papaya ; after the swallow, the anticipated grassiness arrives and lingers into the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with crisp carbonation

Overall: Definitely a neo pilsner, as is advertised on the can - I like it, though traditionalists may beg to differ

Review from BA Mag Issue #118 ( Nov 2016 )

Grass, Herbal, Citrus, Spicy
Bauhaus Brew Labs go right after the style with Wonderstuff, there’s no pussyfooting at all here. It's all clean and lager-like but this Pils is also a bit raw and brash with a mouthful of grass, herbal hops, and some subtle yeast character. After a quick kiss of alcohol, it does go a bit spicy and citrusy in the hop flavor toward the middle to end of the sip, with what I guess is a bit of American flare? The biggest problem I have with this beer and the brewers’ approach is that it should have been in 16 ounce tallboys so I could properly drink it out of a mug or perhaps from just the can itself. Pours a clear gold with a fluffy white head that dissipates quickly to a thin layer leaving a bit of lacing. Lots of bubbles streaming up. Smells of malt, slightly spicy hop profile and a bready undertone. Tastes grassy, and the spicy hops definitely come through before a sweet floral undertone for the finish. Mouthfeel is medium, honestly heavier than I'd expect for a pilsner, with a lot of carbonation. Overall a good pilsner, but the mouthfeel keeps it from being a good summer beer for me.

A solid and true-to-style if unspectacular Czech Pilsener. Had this as part of the "year-round" flight at the brewery. Highly drinkable but not a standout.

Wonderstuff pours a creamy golden color with a small but lacing head. A creamy and crisp malty aroma. Taste has a creamy mash flavor, with a noticeable hoppy aftertaste. Good feel. Overall, a very good pils. A bit stronger and fuller body, with more hops then others.

Pretty good stuff. More bitter than the Czech Pils that I've had in Eastern Europe, but still quite tasty. Large foamy head settle slowly. Nice spicy aroma with a bit o hops. Good body and finish.

This beer pours a very clear bronze with a sizeable head. The aroma is very bready, with sweet biscuity malts dominating, as well as some fruitiness, dried mango, dried apricot, and sweet potato. The flavor begins with the sweet biscuity malts, light caramel and then some vague fruitiness and and floral finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a solid malt base. Overall this is a pretty damn delicious pilsner - rather more malt forward than I am used to, but it makes it work. The malts are sweet, but never in an unbalanced way. And it looks truly gorgeous.

Smells like a standard Pilsner, but the taste is more robust. Strong malt bill with a body that is a little fuller than most Pils. Expected straw, hay and dried apple flavors, with a flowery and spicy hop finish from the Saaz, as well as some citrus hop undertones. Finishes fairly crisp and dry. Due to the more robust body and malts, this comes across as a cross between a Dortmunder and a Czech Pilsner, with some American hops thrown in as well.

Appearance: clear, pale golden coloring, adequate ivory foam formation.

Aroma: florals and honey, soft and delicate, and utterly likable. Nice noble hop character. Citrus-y echoes lurk below.

Taste: Particularly pleasing, with a pronounced hoppiness. Clean, light-bodied, easy-drinking as pie. Or, easy-as-pie drinkin'. Whatever works. Simple, classic, well-done.

Satisfying beverage, excellently executed. What's the gobbledygook want to tell us? "Some ideas are simply ahead of their time. The stuff in this can, however, is right on schedule. We channelled a madman's spirit and wild ingenuity into this unique version of a classic. Wonderstuff delivers the clean, balanced flavors you'd expect from a Pilsner with a powerful, citric hop twist. Truly the stuff of wonder, this beer will change the way you think about lagers."

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden-yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of toasted caramel and floral notes. Sweet bready taste with caramel and a sharp bitterness.

Poured a light gold from the can into a beer glass with a thick white, foamy head that lasted for a while. Smells like a basic pilsner, but with no skunkiness like lower end pilsners. In taste there was slight malt with a small hop finish. Very interesting taste and feel. Very drinkable and unique.

a pretty spot on example of the style here, this is a nice grassy bitter hoppy bone dry pilsener with plenty of body and fresh lager yeast flavor. its exactly what it ought to be, and is surprisingly well done for a brewery thats relatively new to the scene. this tastes like it could have come from some 1000 year old european operation. impressive to say the least. all that said, its still just a pils, and isnt making me jump for joy or anything. just the slightest bit of haze to the color, otherwise glowing pale yellow. the head is tall and lasting, and it smells really hoppy. maybe saaz or something like it, herbaceous but not loaded with bittering properties, just dosed so its on the bitter side, lots of hops in here for sure. i like the yeast, its not flavorless, and i appreciate that in this style. its bready and doughy but clean, and dries this up really well. adds roundness where the hops are after the wave of pils malt flavor. good beer overall, i have been impressed by these guys in the few beers i have had of theirs. well done, very authentic.

The wonderstuff is quite wonderful...very decent pilsner. The beer poured a clear golden with white head that left some lace. The scent was typical of most pilsners. The taste carried a touch of hops that made this beer unique. The Mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a great beer.

Very good summer beer. A refreshing Pilsner but with a nice hoppy taste. An American version of Czech Pilsner. I have been lucky to have had a few unpasteurized Czech pilsners on tap, and this isn't that good, but for a beer out of a can very good.

Pours a golden yellow color with a fizzy, medium sized white head that quickly recedes, leaving a thin layer on the top and a medium ring around the edges. Some very slight lacing.

Very pleasant aroma, with some good depth, especially for a Pils. First sniff revealed some citrusy notes reminiscent of an IPA. A little bit of wheat and lemon emerge, as the citrus fades into just the lemon and some light grassy and floral notes, giving the aroma of a hot summer night.

Nice earthy, grassy, lemon taste the start it off. Again, very summery flavors. Pale malts, with some bready grains and crackers. A lot more hoppiness than you'll see from most pilsensers. Slightly bitter, malty finish on the back end.

Crisp and refreshing, and a very easy drinker. Not too carbonated, making it perfect to chug a bunch of these on a summer night and not feel too much from it.

Overall, a very worthwhile Czech Pilsener. If you haven't found a Pils to your liking, give this one a try. Versatile and tasty.
