Some ideas are simply ahead of their time. The stuff in this can, however, is right on schedule. We channeled a madman’s spirit and wild ingenuity to create this truly unique version of a classic style. Wonderstuff delivers the clean, balanced flavors you’d expect from a classic, old-world, Bohemian-style Pilsner, but with a more modern, powerful, citrus hop twist, expressing hints of lime peel, sweet grass and bright spice. Truly the stuff of wonder, this beer will change the way you think about light lagers.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a totally clear body and a finger of frothy white foam atop. Nice!

Smell: sweet malt and a bit of yeast at first, then with a little underlying graininess and astringency. Smells crisp and enticing.

Taste: grainy malt flavor, but also with a good level of balancing sweetness. Hops are mild and perhaps grassy and noble in character. Nice and smooth; I like it.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess for the style.

Overall: an all-round good Pilsner that is super duper drinkable. A can of this out on the beach would be amazing.

Clear, golden yellow body; dense carbonation; thick, frothy and sudsy head, white and long-lasting. Nice restrained aroma of light malt grains and slightly floral and spicy hop smells. Fantastic taste; light biscuit and cracker malt notes; a little spicy, grass-like notes; light white pepper. Light body; crisp; somewhat dry.

This is a great example of a simple beer done right. Clean, crisp, refreshing and relatively complex for the style.

Pours crystal clear straw yellow with a thick white cap. Decent retention and lacing. Aroma is biscuit, corn, European hops. Flavor follows the nose, slightly sweet with a slight noble hop bite. Feel is light and lightly carbonated. Overall, a nice Pilsner that would be improved with a bit more carbonation.

Really like this Pilsner. Maybe my favorite. Better than Pilsner Urquell hands down. Has a nice citrus hop flavor to it.
Bent Paddle Pilsner & Surly Hell are my two other goto Pilsners, but Bauhaus has them both beat.

A thanks to the commander of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a bright golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mid, some grains. Taste is of malts, grains, light hops, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer.

12oz can pkgd 7/25/22 into a tall pilsner glass.
L: Pours almost clear light caramel w/a thin white head, good retention, well carb'd throughout, good lacing & banding.
S: Light pineapple, flowery, a hint of grains, light grass, honey, lightly dank as the beer warms.
T: Fruited candied caramel malts (quite interesting), citrus zest, light berries, gently floral, a suggestion of sweetbread, lightly grassy, good subtle bitterness in the long finish, gently pale.
F: A quick crispness gives way to a fairly soft, med-bodied feel with a short drying finish that lingers long. So, gently dry, fast w a long light linger.
O: A great tasting and interesting Pilsner. It works! Brilliant feel & flavor, quite refreshing...like a new Pilsner...very easy drinking. It is excellent in it's style.

Medium light gold color. Sweet, floral hop aroma, with some light malt, as well. Solid, but light noble hop and off-dry (wine term, meaning the faintest hint of sweetness, that quickly disappears), light malt flavor.

Pours a light golden color with a thin white head and smells of citrus and bread. Flavor is strong for a Pilsner: lots of lemon and citrus with a bready backbone. Very lightly carbonated with a dry finish. I'm not normally a Pilsner guy, but this is a great beer. Very drinkable.

The brewer gives fair warning about this beer, right on the can: "Wonderstuff delivers the clean, balanced flavors you expect from a classic, old-world pilsner, but with a more modern hop profile..." OK, I don't know what you read into that, but I read that this might be an "India Bohemian Pilsner"... Let's see...

A 3/4 inch head, thick and creamy, and white, tops a hazy yellow body with substantial carbonation. The hazy appearance is (as I said also for the Pryes Pragmatic) more kellerbier-like than pilsner-like.The head recedes within a few minutes to a thick cap, leaving lace-looking lacing around the glass.

Aroma is not too strong, but pleasant. Bready, grassy, lemon, and floral.

The flavor is very hoppy: a citrus/lemon character dominates over the bready malts. The bread fights back, but the hops rule the flavor. Even so, there is not much bitterness at all. The finish is a bit on the sweet side, with the enjoyable fruit and bread flavors lingering nicely into the aftertaste, ending, though, with a somewhat rough final finish.

The mouth feel is smooth with a medium body.

I like this beer a lot. As the brewer promised, the overall taste profile is very American, and with the smooth feel, fruit flavors, and sweet finish, it presents almost like a "New England-style" pilsner. I'm unashamedly rating this beer in the taste and overall components on a "do I like it" scale rather than as a classic Czech-style pils. It is quite delicious.

A nice biscuit/cracker taste right off the top, slowly settling into mild hops. Carbonation remains low but present with each sip; the rising bubbles telling the story from vat to glass. Definitely worth trying!

Appearance: Pours a hazy, crisp lager color with a pillow white head that lingers. SRM of 8 (4.00)

Aroma: Strong of aromas of sweet lemon, full bread/biscuit dough with some buttery/milky notes, lemon zest, corn. Some lemonflower. Lots of wheat roll with honey. Smells like a bakery on a farm baking bread in a stone oven that releases the steam out of the chimney into the cold, wet, lemony air. (4.25)

Flavor: Buttery sweet bread dough and flowery grass. Lots of yeast. Earthy bread spice astringency. Some baked butter and bread. More lemon citrus like from a car wash. It's reminds me of a fresh, buttered, undercooked wheat roll they used to serve in elementary school. (4.25)

Feel: Slightly heavier bodied. Decent carbonation. Finishes dry for such a heavy body. Touch of bready astringency on the palate. (4.00)

Compared to Dorothy's New World: More bready fullness and pepper. Less sour quality. Very similar overall.

to Dakota's Soul 7/20: Slightly lighter color. More bread and less salty aroma. Fuller body and more bready and sweet. Less crispy and salty. Sweeter and more candied overall.
4/21: . More lemon, sweet bread, and bitter hops. Less grassy, yeast, and salty bread. Sweeter overall. Similar.
12/21: More crackery and hoppy. Less dry grass and grains.

to Hell Lager: It has a brighter, hoppier flavor off the bat. It's more sweet, honey lemon, salty, hoppy pop. More bready, salty, popcorn. Hard to differentiate, but this one has more buttery body and sweet lemon.
11/20: Pours a similar color with a stronger head. More crackery and bready flavors with honey. Less flowery and bitter, dry wheat. Similar.

to Great Lakes Dortmund Gold
11/20: Pours a lighter color. More sweet & astringent lemon, bready, yeast, honey. Less earth and flower. The flavor is more bread, rather than honey. More hops, but both are very similar.
5/21: More lemon, bread, yeast, salt. Less earthy and smooth honey/cream.

to Surly's First Ave:
3/21: Milder aromas. More pale malt and salty bread. More full on the tongue. Less honeysuckle and flower. A fuller and breadier body, but less bitter.
1/22: Milder aromas. More bread, yeast, salt. Less earthy honey and flower.

to Bent Paddle Classic 8/20: Much stronger, earthy honey aromas with some flower
1/21: Slightly larger head. Less honey and less German malts. More hops here.
5/21: More salt, bread, lemonflower. Less bread, cream, vanilla.

to Fulton Lonely Blonde 1/20: . Less pale lemon/shady/lemonade. Both lemon . This one is just yeastier and breadier.
3/22: More salty bread, less tart lemon.

to Lake Monster Como Claw Pils 12/20: More citrus and honeysuckle. Slightly less butter and bread. Less yeast, but similar sweetness. Very Similar.

to Firestone Walker Lager 1/25/21: Pours a similar color, slightly darker. Stronger aromas/flavors. More honey, lemon citrus, sweet bread. Less white biscuit, wheat, and yeast. Heavier and sweeter overall.

to TJ Josefsbrau Czech Pils 3/24/21: More lemon and salty bread. Less buttery bread. More lemon citrus, hoppier, and less true to style.

to Summit Keller Pils 5/21: Similar aromas, but slightly more lemon and bread. Less lemonflower. More salty bread and sweeter.

to Pryes Pils 11/21: Similar pour. More sweet bread. Less dry grass and grains.

to Bells Lager of the Lakes 8/22: More lemon, bitter yeast, and hops. Less soggy grains.

8/22: More lemon, bitter yeast, honey sweetness. Less grains and butter. Similar.

to 3 Sheeps Now You See Me 4/2023: More salted bread malt and yeast. less sweet lemon citrus and white wine. Dryer and yeastier.

to Praga Pils 11/2023: Pours lighter, milder aromas. More hoppy floral lemon and yeast. Less earthy and buttery authentic Euro pale lager malt flavors. Similar sweetness.

to Venn Pils 2/2024: Pours identical. Milder aromas. Less bitter, salty bread malt and yeast. More smooth lemon citrus, and buttery notes. Sweeter.

Overall: A fantastic beer! An American lean to it with the lemon citrus. It does the Saaz hops well. Reminds me of a German-hopped blonde. It reminds me of a fresh undercooked, doughy wheat sweet roll from elementary school baked with honey butter. It's everything I want in a wheat beer, which a fantastic citrus twist. Golden yellow lager body with a finger of white foam. The smell is pretty light: pilsner malts and grains, biscuit, and grass. Taste has classic czech pilsner flavors, especially in the bready malts, but gets a little rough on the edges with grass, slight booze, and harsh grains. Despite this super drinkable and decently crisp, but could be refined.
