Serving: fridge temperature into standard glass

Look: jet black with a fizzy, cream colored head. Lacing is moderate

Aroma: pretty subtle. Roasty malts, some nuttiness in there too.

Taste: Just a tad of roastiness, but a bit weak for my taste. If you prefer brown ales or light porters then this is works for you

Feel: Light and a bit fizzy just as it looks. Goes down with little aftertaste, but not watery.

Overall: A solid example of the style. It has a pleasant roasty taste without the bittersweet bite of a porter. Stargazer is a dark beer that anyone can get into.

A-Dark Brown...minimal head

S-Light roasted malts, vanilla, caramel creme..j

T-I find this plenty roasty despite the description on the can. Not getting much hop impression at all which is fine as I don't expect it or need it in this style. Chocolate, light java, light vanilla, light caramel..

F-Feels right for the style. Not big or full bodied....drinks like it is should....body slightly bigger than a dark lager.

O-Impressed with this. A beer loaded with flavor but not ABV.

16oz pour at Guavas, contender for my favorite restaurant spot in the state

Dark choco coloring with a very light brown head that stays. Smells like hot cocoa (cold cocoa). Full bodied taste: smoky malts, medicinal hops, and maybe a touch of coffee. Pretty bitter for the style, but remains easy to drink

I love schwarzbier and hold them to a high standard, this one is very good

Picked up the mix 12-pack. Wish it was a couple bucks cheaper, but my experience with this brewery has made it worth it to give it a try.
Nice light roast/toast on the aroma and then in the drink the subsequent drying from the roast. Very good looking with nice garnet color in the light surrounded by a nearly black body. Full tan head that seems pretty sticky. A touch of sweet in the aroma, with a little in the taste too (kinda' towards caramel). Hints of herbal hopping in the aroma too. Less if any in the flavor. Fairly full body for a 5% lager. Feels nice.
This is a solid schwarzbier. I'm enjoying it.

Bauhaus Brew Labs Stargrazer German Style Schwarzbier. 5 % ABV. 28 IBU.

Appearance: dark brown, not even nearly black, with ruby highlights, with a roasted tan head.

Aroma: sweet and malty, with traces of bitterness. hints of cocoa and coffee.

Taste: Sweet creamy malt hits first, with minor bitterness. Smooth stuff, and tasty, too. Clean, easy-drinking, everything you want from a schwarzbier is here. A mellow mix of cocoa and cream that plays well with a dark lager like this.

Is there gobbledygook on the can? Of course! "If you've never time-travelled, then take it from us, Stargrazer will be your personal slingshot through time and space. Our schwarzbier is a jet-black mystery, delivering a surprisingly light body and bright hop profile without the heavy roast qualities you find in most dark beers. It's as black as night, yet amazingly refreshing. How do we do it? It's like science. Don't overthink it, just enjoy."

There must be references I'm missing planted in there, or I'm sure it would make sense. Does anyone out there get it? "Slingshot"? "Amazingly refreshing"? I say it's beer and you can drink it. Or something.

Appearance: Dark brown, small head.

Smell: Sweet roasted malts.

Taste: Nice roasty, mocha flavor. Full mouthfeel but still somewhat light.

Overall: Tried a can of this schwarzbier, it was good. I like schwarz and porters, dark beers with good roasty flavors without being overly heavy. Bauhaus seems to be off to a good start.

Dark brown where light passes through the edge. Pale beige head which leaves many streaks on the glass.

Dark, nearly burnt malt aroma.

The flavor had more burnt notes and even some ashen tastes. The body and carbonation are appropriate (thin and low respectively). The finish is dry with burnt toast elements. It tastes chewy even though it's not.

Re-review 8/16/16 (original score 4.6)
Bauhaus Stargazer pours a solid black color. The head is massive and rocky. It eventually recedes into thick, chunky lacing. The aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, nuts, and burnt malt. The taste is similar to the aroma, but more pronounced. There is a very complex play of malts going on with chocolate, roasted malt, Whoppers candy, and cream. The finish is clean and dry. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a silky texture, and appropriate carbonation. Overall, I've had this beer a number of times in the past couple years, and believe that it is the best beer Bauhaus makes. Cheers to them for producing a style year round that more brewers overlook.

Poured out a jet-black color with a small, tan head. Good roasty aroma with chocolate and caramel notes. It tasted of caramel, chocolate and roasted maltiness. Subtle bitter hop bite.

12 oz can purchased and consumed in Minneapolis.

Pours dark brown and near opaque. Good but not excellent head and lacing.

Near medium body with medium carbonation. Smooth albeit a bit lively.

Appealing but mild aroma. I wish it was a little bit stronger.

The flavor has more than adequate strength, and no detectable defects, although it lacks complexity as is typical for style.

O: a fine version of the style. Be sure not to serve this too cold.

Aroma of light roast, burnt caramel and dark fruit. Flavor profile is nice but on the lighter side, with chocolate, caramel, roasted notes, dark fruit and a light floral finish. The body is fairly light but quite creamy, which would be great with a little more carbonation and a crisper finish. A lingering aftertaste detracts a little. Decent Schwarzbier, but could use just a little more oomph.
