If their Pils is my favorite offering of Bauhau this is a very close second. An interesting take on a California Common....an enjoyable and tasty take I might add. The hops are evident but there is also a nice biscuity, nutty malt flavor. Hops are flavorful not bitter...notes of peaches and apricots on the taste...aroma gives off some light citrus as well...highly drinkable....full of flavor...a definite winner here.

Nice, hoppy California Common. Aroma is mostly citrus and caramel, but the taste is more complex with grapefruit, tangerine and light tropical flourishes over a malt body of toast, biscuit and bread. It has the smoother body of a Lager with a crisp finish. Moderately bitter, with more perceived bitterness than their IPA.

L: bright brown liquid, 2" cream to light tan lacy and sticky foam collar with very good retention.

S: spice and resin with some pine, citrus and light toast.

T: rich and malty seasoned by citrus and stone fruit. An assertive bitterness emerges mid-palate leading to lingering malt and hop flavors in the finish. The hop bitterness is medium high, the hop flavors are medium low, and the malt flavors are medium.

F: Wagonparty has a medium body and carbonation.

O: This is a very drinkable and full flavored beer with a nice creamy texture.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a tall pint glass.

Appearance: Pours a hazy golden orange with a lot of bubbles. Big three finger off white head which slowly settles into a thinner layer. Leaves some good lacing.

Smell: A juicy and floral hop forward aroma with hints of citrus and pine. Upfront citrus hops with hints of orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, mango, pineapple, and tangerine. Dank hints of pine resin along with some floral hints. Solid malt background with hints of grains, caramel, cracker, and lager yeast. A pretty good smell.

Taste: Like the smell hints at, a juicy and earthy hop forward taste with good notes of citrus and pine. Citrus hops with good juicy notes of grapefruit, mango, orange, lemon, pineapple, and tangerine. Good earthy and floral hop presence with notes of pine resin and grass. Soft bready malt background with notes of caramel, grains, cracker, and lager yeast. A very solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, crisp, and pretty smooth with a drying finish.

Overall: A very solid brew that is described as a California Common but comes off like a citrus forward American Pale Ale. Really good use of hops.
