Pours a dark brown/black with 1.5 finger cream head which has excellent retention. Aroma is of roasted malt and very slight hint of chocolate. Taste is roasted malted barley with mild notes of coffee and chocolate. Bitterness is very, very subtle. Great creamy mouthfeel. A fantastic Irish stout, decent out of the can but if you can get this on draught in Ireland (particularly in Cork), give it a shot... you will not be disappointed.

enjoyed at the ginger man pub, dublin, i’ve somehow come this far in my life without ever having a pint of beamish, until tonight, saw on tap, and seized the day, it’s grand, obviously very similar to Guinness, perhaps lighter in body, somewhat thin, and lacking the same death of flavour, enjoyable enough

Pint on tap from Mulligans, Dublin (€5.90):
Opaque black with a 1.5cm head with a nice dome shape to it & excellent retention. The nose has a lightly roasted malt bitterness to it with some faint caramel, milky notes & faint dark fruits in the background; mainly cherries. It's very creamy without being the most pronounced tasting, there's more roasted malts & very subtle coffee with an light earthy bitterness to finish.

Beautiful Beamish aromas scintillate the senses, from the first to the last sip (excluding the last drop, of course). Brutishly creamy, it makes for a taste sensation not found anywhere other than my Irish Homeland. Balanced, delicious, recommended.

Rating from notes. Consumed Summer 2012. "Fruitier, more bitter, and more porter-like than Murphy's and Guinness, but falls short of greatness IMO."

From a half liter can picked up in Ireland, marked best by 08/03/20. Very dark brown color with a finger of dense tan foam. Roasted malt smell. Light feel, very smooth from the nitro insert. Roasted malt and chocolate flavors with a dry finish. Very nice!
