Very Good
Hazelnut Creme StoutHazelnut Creme Stout
Notes: This beer has generous amounts of flaked oats, chocolate malt and roasted barley giving it a complex body, creamy mouthfeel, and pours with a thick tan head. Fresh brewed hazelnut coffee is added prior to kegging. Not too heavy, not too light, this beer is perfect.

On draft at the brewery

Very dark brown in color, a bit of light gets through the corners. Tan colored head. Aroma of sweet hazelnut , chocolate, and coffee. Similar flavor, but not too sweet. Medium bodied, smooth feel.

Sits very black in the glass. Hazelnut, lactose, milk and dark chocolate. Flavors are subdued and fairly balanced. Thinner body and feel. Not bad.

This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a fairly dark brown color with a thin wisp of a little white foamy head. Lace was fairly messy. The aroma had some sweet hazelnut, light toast, some milk chocolate, coffee creamer (somewhat like Irish coffee), some roasted nuts and a little bit of dark bread at the very end. The flavor leaned towards the sweet side with a sly roasty to toasty sort of taste rolling in underneath. Aftertaste was definitely fully sweet encompassing all of the prior mentioned aromas. Finish was slightly sticky sweet. The feel was just a touch under from medium bodied with a slick sort of feel along my tongue. Carbonation felt fine and the ABV felt fine. Overall, sweet stout - yes. But I have had more balanced sweet stouts, this is not one of them.

Served at Dohertys east Ave cafe in Pawtucket RI.

Pours deep brown body with a light brown head. Leaves spotty lacing.

Aromas are subtle but present - chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla, toffee, ground coffee.

They nailed the taste! Strong hazelnut and dark chocolate, coffee, creamy chocolate, roasty charred finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and rich with medium carbonation.

This is like a hazelnut coffee milk stout, very well executed, tasty, complex. Whalers nailed this one.

Great beer, with a very strong coffee-aroma that hits you immediately. To be honest, I just wish I could taste more of the nuts and that it were more creamy and less coffee-y. But overall, not a bad one to sip with some ice cream near a fire.

This is my all time favorite stout! Great pour, the flavor is perfectly hazelnut, not too strong, great mouthfeel. All around delicious. Had 3 pints in a row last night.

On tap at the brewery:

Pours a lovely dark brown, bordering on black. Cola on the edges when swirled, otherwise almost totally obsidian. Smell was a little more muted than I'd prefer in a stout, but I still got lots of lactose, along with milk chocolate and nuts. Really nice! The taste was even better. Solid foundation of milky, roasty malt, with strong notes of hazelnut and light milk chocolate. It's definitely not an absolute banger of a stout like are sought out today, but its subtle and delicious. Crushable. Medium body, with not too thick a finish. Overall, its an excellent stout. Hope they release this brew in bottles for the winter.

This Stout is absolutely delicious. Subtle hazelnut notes indeed, which I thought was very unique and creative. Obviously, this beer being more on the heavy side, 2 pints of this beer and you'll be feeling great. Porters and Stouts can start to taste the same, but this one stands out!

On-tap 12/19/2014 at Doherty’s Ale House in Warwick, RI, served in a tapered pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a light brown head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains lactose, roasted malts, coffee, hazelnuts and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out sweet with flavors of hazelnuts, coffee, maple and chocolate. Then a hearty roasted malt character follows along with some lactose creaminess. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.

Had on draft. Served in a tulip glass.

A - Dark as the deepest abyss with a hazelnut hued head (alliteration, mamma jammas!).

N - Nutty, roasty, some chocolate, some coffee...like a hazelnut flavored latte.

T - A nice mouthful of hazelnut goodness.

M - WOW mouthfeel! It's thick and creamy; what a nice surprise for such a low ABV stout.

O - Terrific, low ABV flavored stout.

32oz. howler served in a tulip. Pours one shade shy of black with a loose, 1/8th inch mocha-colored head that quickly disperses into an oily slick. Great nose on this beer - mocha and hazelnuts. Taste consistent with nose with the addition a peanut butter cup aspect to the flavor profile and just a hint of bitter char at the back. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (but closer to light) with a pleasant, even carbonation. I have to say that this is one tasty American Stout. The nose is great and while the flavors don't punch you in the face, they make their presence known which contributes to the overall drinkability of this beer. Really glad I finally made it in to the brewery.
