Notes: A bright citrus aroma leads to a pleasantly smooth body with a subtle hop spice that lingers in the background.

Had a couple of free samples at the Rhode Island Seafood Festival in Providence. My first brew reviewed from these guys, but I have had this before. This is fine, would not seek out.

A: The beer is hazy and somewhat pale yellow in color, having a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly settled down, leaving a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops are present in the nose - orange seems to stand out in particular along with notes of lime.
T: The taste follows the smell, with the hops also contributing a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This APA is very sessionable yet is aromatic and flavorful with a nice crisp mouthfeel.

Had this while visiting New England. It's everywhere in Rhode Island and makes a good case to be considered the official state beer. This is an incredibly well balanced APA that reminds me of Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale, or classic Sierra Nevada Pale ale, but with a more malt-forward approach. The dry-hop additions provide good aromatics, with orange and pine hop characteristics perfectly balancing the biscuity malt character. Delicious!

DATE: July 28, 2021... OCCASION: bar #5 on our twentieth celebration tour in Newport... this is strong, vibrant and hoppy, well beyond its 5.5 ABV... sharp citrus and balanced cracker malts make for an enjoyable finish...

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a pint glass. Three fingered white head on a golden hue body, nice looking beer. Slight whiff of hops on the nose. The first sip offers a bit of hops bite with a clean finish. Very good example of the style.

12 oz can into a Parish Teku. Canned 7/7/20. From Evan.

Pours a light hazy golden straw with a tall, really tall cap of 3 fingers. Very creamy but loosely knit at the bottom. Wonderful thick lacing on the sides.

Aroma is grassy with elements of honey and sweet malt, faint berry or fruity pebbles, and a little farmhouse.

Flavor brings grass, berries, a little pine, a little earth, grainy malt, and a finish of fresh cut dew grass and fruity pebbles.

Feel is crisp, moderately clinging, moderately resinous, and semi-clean. Has a good carbonation to it - prickly yet not overwhelming. Very mild alcohol heat.

Overall, an enjoyable pale ale and just above the threshold of crushable, which is alright with me because I feel like sipping for awhile. I'd like to think I'd have this again.

Twelve ounce can dated 10/30/19. Looks like a Hefeweizen, hazy and pale yellow, with a low white head that settles out quickly. Aroma of honey and melon. Flavor is a bit nondescript, quite vegetal, lots of tea, fleshy fruit that I can’t identify. Moderate mouthfeel. Very average overall.

From a 12oz can dated 8/27/19 into a pint glass. Pours a very murky, nearly opaque dark brownish yellow with a finger and a half of fluffy white head, moderate retention and good lacing. Smell is mild, mainly bitter hoppiness and very faint citrus. The beer tastes like it should for a PA, mild but tasty. Picking up just a bit of lemon in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is incredibly smooth. Maybe I'm biased because my sister brought this to me but this is a solid APA.

Meets American IPA requirements. Had out of the can. Tropical, cloudy yellow colour. Thin head. Strong citrus hop notes. Bitterness a little elevated but not overwhelming. Good beer if you like this style.

This beer portrays one of the under-appreciated aspects of the craft beer movement. It’s available almost anywhere in RI now alongside drafts/taps that you commonly find at regular bars and restaurants. And that allows it to be a go-to option when all other beers are trash at an establishment. Outside of that, it’s a really good APA that checks all the boxes. Great hop profile and so easy to drink. Like, seriously, it’s a perfect session beer. Also at a great price, it’s now one of the few “no-brainers” when I walk into a store looking for a 6-pack for the weekend ($7.99?! What!?).

If you’re an NE IPA fan this is NOT the beer for you. Malt bomb. My palate must be destroyed because I don’t understand how anyone would voluntarily drink this type of beer.

12-oz. can dated 10/16/18 needed an average pour for a finger sized frothy white head with long retention and streaky lace. Slightly hazy golden straw color appears yellow in front of light.
Big smell of bright piney and floral hops with some citrus and malt sweetness.
Taste begins bitter and semi-dry as caramel malt changes the middle to semi-bitter and semi-sweet with light citrus. Bitterness returns for the quick dry finish as the malt richness fades, the bright hops from the smell plus peppery spice linger on the palate for a while. Medium bitterness overall.
Medium body, above average carbonation. Smooth despite the big hop flavors and bitterness.
Nice balance of hop bite and semi-sweet malt. True to style, difficult to find any fault with this beer.

Canned 10/08/18
Pours a nice foamy bubbly 1 finger head nice retention and lacing, hazy tangerine orange color

Nose little cracker malt, grassy citrus hops, little spicy, fairly light

Taste brings fair hops, grassy citrus, rind, pithy, little tangerine orange and grapefruit, mild cracker toasty malt, mild bitterness esp for an APA, drier finish

Mouth is med bod, decent carb

Overall meh, pretty light all around, nose was super light, taste was ok but not much going on and not even close to enough bitterness for APA

Sharply hopped, light golden ale. Not much nuance here, just a bitter bite and then gone. Not sure how this beer received an Exceptional rating. It's rather one-note and unexceptional, in fact..

I tried this at Mews Tavern in Rhode Island. It poured a clear orangish with white head that left a spotty lace. The scent had hop hints that included some citrus flare. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with some fruit notes present. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

Can poured into stemless wine glass. Hazy yellow straw with thick foamy head, just off-white, settles slowly into thin cap.

Citrus, grassy hops and a bit of grapefruit pith in the aroma.

Flavor is floral, citrus and light fruit. Some grassy and earthy hops but overall smooth and not aggressive. Light bitterness balances the hint of sweetness.

Moderate carbonation and lighter than medium body. Clean and refreshing.

A nice easy going brew, nothing really wrong with it. I could sip on a few in a row and be content. I think I would like in the summer as a beach beer.

12oz. can served in a tulip nonic. Pours a hazy gold with loose, off-white, 1/8th inch head that dissipates into a broken slick. Nose expresses light notes of citrus and pith. Taste follows nose with the additional presence of a light malt bill - slightly crackery. Mouthfeel is light in body with a carbonation just shy of lively with a pleasant, semi-crisp finish. All and all, an easy drinking APA.

On tap.

A mildly hazy light orange with a dense, off-white head with good retention and lacing, this looks solid. The nose is bright and fruity, clean and refreshing, with mostly citrus and with a mild stone fruit note. Clean, rather pulp-free mandarins, fuzz-free peach and a little grape are present. A faint malt character is present, complementing the nose. On the palate, this opens with a mild and pleasant bitterness and a nice, juicy hop flavor. Again, there's citrus and stone fruit that dominate, and the mild sweetness adds to the juiciness of the hop flavors. Drying on the finish, this beer is clean and refreshing. Recommended.
