Came in a goblet pitch black with a thick mocha colored head that settles into a creamy mass.Vanilla/bourbon aromas first jump out then rich sweet chocolate over top of coconut, decadent and sweet.Alot like the aromas the flavors have a vanilla tinged oaky element upfront followed by an onslaught of chocolate, almost fudge-like,the coconut is there but not real strong. It's thick and sweet and the alcohol creeps,a great beer alot in common with No Rules from Perrin I had a week or so ago.

look: 3.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.5

Look: It pours opaque black with a dark brown head. Head retention is low.

Smell: The aromas feature bourbon and chocolate cake with coconut. There are complex combinations of various aromas to include: oak, vanilla, a sugar pastry note, cinnamon and very low nuts.

Taste: The flavors are even better than the aromas with chocolate, coconut, bourbon, and cocoa coming through strong in the initial flavors. There are also a bit of nuts, a sugar pastry element, cinnamon, oak, and vanilla.

Feel: It has a very rich texture with a full body. There is very smooth alcohol warming. The aftertaste is a bit sweet with moderate bitterness.

Overall, this is a pastry stout with a full array of aromas and tastes. It quite literally tastes like an infused bourbon German Chocolate Cake with notes of oak.

Appearance - Pours thick black with thick mocha colored head.

Aroma - Oh so good, smells like a German chocolate cake. Lots of dark chocolate, vanilla, hints of bourbon and oak very sweet aroma.

Taste - Very similar to the aroma, sweet decadent flavor. Dark chocolate, vanilla, oak bourbon it reminds me of a liquid devils food cake so good.

Feel - Thick creamy full bodied you can taste the bourbon but not overpowering

Overall - An amazing BBA stout so sweet and decadent

look: 3.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

Appearance: Arrives with a thin tan cap covering the fudge brown liquid; not much head retention but it does leave some spots of lace

Smell: Rich chocolate fudge, with Bourbon, vanilla and coconut aromatics.

Taste: Chocolate fudge cake forward, with the vanilla and coconut developing; the Bourbon is well integrated through the mid-palate and the German chocolate cake influence is complete

Mouthfeel: Full bodied and somewhat creamy; moderate carbonation with just a hint of warmth

Overall: The beer lives up to its name; side by side with a taste of Drunken Mornings this was a bigger beer with more complexity; I look forward to seeing other variants on the Imperial Stout style from this brewery

A: 16 oz. can pour into a snifter. Jet black with a one-finger, khaki head that quickly subsided into a thin ring around the glass.

S: Bourbon, vanilla and fudge.

T: Creamy milk chocolate, vanilla, coffee, coconut, molasses and bourbon. Some nuttiness. Subtle roast. It legitimately tastes like liquid chocolate cake.

F: Thick, chewy, and sticky mouthfeel. Minimal to no carbonation.

O: The name doesn't lie. A beautiful pastry stout. This is literally chocolate cake soaked in bourbon. Complex with an ideal mouthfeel. 11.5% ABV is misleading, this is dessert in a glass. Minimal alcohol heat. I highly recommended this beer. Need to find another can ASAP.
