On tap at Brews On The Alley in Seneca, SC.

Appearance. Nearly black body with mahogany edges, topped by a good beige head that leaves some lacing sticking to the snifter.

This is a mild, easy drinking, distinctive, harmoniously flavored version of the style.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Appalachian Vintner in Asheville 3-8-23 for $4.67. Canned 1-3-23; consumed 1-17-24. Cold stored since purchase.

Beer poured brown with a very nice tan head that has some great hang time.

Nose gives me some roast, chocolate, coffee, and citrus.

Taste is a medium roasted and toasted malt that gives me a touch of chocolate that all dominates the hints of citrus. Finishes with a nice abrasiveness from i am sure is a mega dose of Galaxy hops; 7/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel is medium to large bodied and smooth.

Overall, wow this one held up nicely, will have to do again if i cross paths with this delicious brew!

Poured jet black with slight roast coffee aroma. Taste was creamy with a decent hop bite followed by the coffee! Alcohol is well-hidden, even at 9.3%, Open Toe is extremely drinkable!!

Look: It pours black with a dark brown head. Head retention is excellent.

Smell: Aromas are tropical in nature with citrus and some grapefruit. There are some coffee notes in the background with a very low earthly element.

Taste: There are licorice and coffee flavors with tropical notes, citrus and grapefruit. There is a very low level of earth and a low level of roast.

Feel: It has a medium full body with a bit of sharpness in the bitterness.

Overall, the tropical with coffee, licorice and roast really surprised me because it worked well together.
