Great place. Quite small and crowded, but was peaceful enough and great service. Tap list is solid, but the real reason for going was to taste Samuel Adams Utopias; the 2011 vintage was available as a 1 oz pour. Expensive, but a rare treat for an European visitor.

I always enjoy my visits here. The 12 taps always offer a variety of different styles, with all of them usually being top notch. The can/bottle selection is well curated, and they always have a variety of ciders on offer as well. The small backyard is a nice touch, as a little extra outdoor space always goes a long way in this city. The bartenders have always been quite laid back, happy to discuss the beers available, about which they always seem to know quite a bit. The crowler system is a nice addition, although the prices for those seem a bit steep, even for the convenience.

A good plan for a busy night is to walk across the street to Emily's and put your name down for a table, then head back to HH for a drink or two before eating some delicious pizza or one of their famous burgers.

This is the best beer bar I have ever been to.
I have been into craft beer for over a decade now. Hops Hill have 12taps. and some 100 Bottles.
The beers are the highest quality. Hard to find, even somewhat exclusive, all top of the line for their style. Just unbelieveable.
The service is impeccable. I was there on a sunday early afternoon. The bartender who I didnt get his name, was extremely easy going, gave some great suggestions, knew his stuff, and was just a good conversation. Great guy.
I love the glassware. They have a excellent rinsing system for their glasses as well. Shows how much they care about the quality here.

I will be back...

Where to begin. This is far and away the best beer bar in New York. Unlike many craft beer bars that have opened in the past few years Hops Hill is welcoming and unpretentious.

Cozy clean spot that is great for beer geeks and novices alike. Bartenders are knowledgeable and I've seen them guide countless beer tourist to the perfect brew. Staff is friendly and doesn't get put off by questions or asking for a sample.

I've had Black Albert, Cantillion, Prairie and Hills Farmstead on multiple occasion at or cheaper than take out places... In a bar!

Always seems to be a regular generously sharing a rare (and pricey) beer. The friendly, fun staff atttacts some fun and interesting customers.

Taps are rotatating and they always have a beautifully balanced draught list anchored typically by an extremely fresh local IPA and usually a rare as shit imp stout and sour.

Barrier, Finback and Secret Engine all made beers for their anniversary. Shows some respect in the community. I've witnessed the owner clean the line between EVERY keg. I've worked at bars and this is unheard of. Ideal place for a brewer to debut a beer.

Oh they started doing sandwhiches and they nailed that too!

At the end of the day it's more than just a beer bar. I see people sipping wine and hitting up their crazy large unique liquor selection. Neighborhood bar that's open late, inexpensive and worth the trip from Manhattan. Best in New York and i'll put it up against any bar anywhwere.

I was a little confused finding this place...the street numbers seem to be kind of mixed up on this block, but eventually I found it. Very small and simple, but you can tell there's good stuff going on here. I visited when the bar had just opened for the day, as I had a few other stops lined up. The bartender--I forget his name--was very friendly and surprisingly knowledgeable about the beer scene in general. The interesting bottle graveyard leads me to believe that some equally interesting characters frequent this place.

The tap and bottle list wasn't the hugest, but there was definitely a lot of good stuff available. Prairie Bomb! happened to be on tap, and while I'm not a big fan of that beer, I couldn't turn down the opportunity. Also sighted were selections from the Bruery, Maine, even Lost Nation...I didn't even know those guys distributed outside VT. The bottle list bragged such names as Cascade, Crooked Stave (some of the rarer stuff too), Tilquin, BCBS, and even Westbrook Gose cans (though I guess NYC gets them now, since I saw them at other bars too). Typical city mark-ups on pricetags, but nice to know the bottles are available if you really want them.

I wasn't able to have food there, but the menu was pretty small with just a few good-looking sandwich options.

Cool place overall, and worth going out of the way for. I only regret I couldn't stay longer, but I'd like to go back eventually.

This is the one bar you have to go to in Brooklyn. As soon as you walk in you see this is a different kind of bar. The bartender knows what he's talking about and is very capable of helping you find the beer you want based on your suggestions. Many of the beers are one of a kind and cannot be found anywhere else. While the menu is very limited the Cuban sandwich i had was wonderful. Prices were very reasonable for such a high quality beers. It was such a pleasure to go to ,that's it worth the stop.

An absolutely phenomenal selection of beers. The bar menu is great. I suggest their house made Cubano. If I could get here more often, I certainly would. The bartenders are extraordinarily friendly, helpful, and make great beer suggestions, though, with a beer list like that, I don't know if they could make a bad one. Anyway, this place is a must visit.

Great tap selection, and a super-impressive bottle selection. Cool minimalist design and vibe. 90s music blaring (maybe it was the night of the week), knowledgeable staff. Didn't eat, but the menu seemed appropriate and beer complementary. Prices on the very reasonable for NYC standard. Awesome place. I'll go back every time I'm in Brooklyn.

First craft bar I've ever been to where the bartender bought us all a round of beers, that plus the amazing tap list will have me coming back for sure.

Hops Hill is pretty new, but is already a prototype on the right way to run a beer bar. I was impressed with their glassware handling and the glass rinsing before every pour. The Bartender told me that they clean lines between each new keg tapping, that's kind of insane.Their tap list is full of interesting stuff, including a lot of options from local breweries (Barrier, Finback, etc.). and I really like their house IPA which was Citra Hops Hill Ipa, the bartender said that it was a collaboration with Barrier for their First Anniversarry. They have a lot of interesting bottles as well, including some rarer stuff (BCS, Drie Fonteinen). I was really impressed with their large ciders selection, many local ciders, like Aaron Burr and Citizen , as well as Spanish and French Ciders. The bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. The lighting is on the darker side but not too dark that you can't read the menu. The place has a roof and some chairs. That's really all a good beer bar needs, and yet plenty of places manage to screw it up. I saw other customers eating a Cubano and a Rueben sandwish and that seem to be their most popular go to items on the menu. It also happens to be a great place to wait if you're trying to grab a table at Emily down the block.

My local beer place. I've been going here regularly for over a year now, never had a complaint. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, great local vibe, and a nice selection.

Atmosphere - Small, quaint, cozy. Great bottles selection for a small place , but offers quality over quantity. Extra points for beer events and tastings they throw at least once a week.

Decor: as simple as it can be, a bar , few shelves , a back cooler , few pendants, and a wall covered with beer pictures and a shelf packed with dead bottles of rare beers like Cantillons, Three Floyds, The Bruery, Cigar City and more.

Quality - Beer lines cleaned between every new keg tapping, i witnessed that myself few times. Glass rinsing before every pour, Dishwasher behind the bar is a plus.

Service - The owner and employees are knowledgable and kind. A+

Selection - Very good selection. They have everything you could ever want in interesting and obscure beer. The draft selection is good and gets rotated weekly--always something new. Tastes for what's on tap are always offered. Extra points for stocking a beer you really love if you ask for it.

Food - They have a choice of 5 sandwishes, cubano, rueben, chicken, vegetarian and lox. as well as smaller snacks of chips, pretzel and beef jerky.

Value - Ranges from reasonable and inexpensive cans to hefty, on imported bottles.

Mad overpriced for a very basic ambience. I'll be at Covenhoven or Glorietta Baldy.
