Very dark amber/red body. Good head production and retention.

Fairly mild aroma, not even much of a malt base, with citrus and pine coming through. A touch floral.

No such restraint on the palate: it’s big, juicy, sweet, and hoppy. Tons of ruby red grapefruit, lemon, caramel, brown sugar, and grass. Very lively and smooth despite the ABV. A lovely overall brew.

By far their best offering...

I had this out of the tap at their taproom in Savannah (which, by the way, is a very nice spot that I BA won't let you review for some odd reason.) Bright caramel colored brew with frothy head and good lacing down the glass. It has a strong citrusy smell with a hoppy background. Mouthfeel is more carbonated than I prefer but the taste was spot on, not very boozy for a double, but still a great offering I will go back for, again and again.

Had at the Service Brewing Tasting Room, Savannah, on draft into tulip.

An amber-red beauty with a light-tan head too soon gone, and a nicely complex floral, fruity and overridingly piney aroma, with a hint of the honey and biscuit malt. On drinking, primarily about the huge piney hops, with the honey and malts more balancing than clearly evident.

12 oz can from the Wall of Beer ($2.59 -- Clemson, SC). Served in December 2018 about 2 weeks from the BB date stamp on the can.

Pours deep orange-amber with a short but durable and creamy bone-colored head. Very good retention and loads of sticky lacing.
The aroma is a piney with tropical fruit notes and faint baked bread.
The flavor follows brings out more bready grains. Moderate bitterness with a strong, hoppy flavor.

pours a slightly misty, ruddy copper with a medium head that poofs. nose; candied orange, floral cascade hops, grapefuit, light pine, light syrup, & (i shit you not) a "sophie the giraffe" teether. taste; heavy cracker malt, candied citrus zests, orange pith, floral pine, & cascade/chinook hops. slightly metallic aftertaste, but not bad. medium carbonation & mouthfeel. solid ipa!

12oz can from Sherlock’s (Marietta, GA). 14.98/ 6 pack. Canned 3/28/18. Served in a Service Brewing snifter. Enjoyed 4/13/18.

Pours deep orange with nary an eighth finger mound of pale head. Decent retention and a good bit of lace.

Initial impressions of honey wheat, a piney and dank hop bouquet, florals notes and some melon.

Tastes a bit piney and abrasive up front. Floral/ herbal bitterness, old citrus rind, grass and a touch of earthy sweetness.

Medium full body with moderate carbonation. The honey is a little more present in the bitter aftertaste along with some more floral and faint citrus.

I spread out this six pack over almost four months. Battle Wagon never quite popped with hop magic for me while fresh but at the three plus month mark I found the malts and honey to work well in creating a rather enjoyable “light” American barleywine.

A: Dark orange copper color, large off white head, excellent lacing
S: Earthy, pine hops, spice, fruit
T: Really full sweet malts, earthy pine hops. Really balanced well. Has a spicy fruity flavor to it. I think the spicy Im tasting is a rye malt, but I could be wrong.
M: Medium
O: Reminds me of another popular Georgia IPA, the turtles flagship. Hides the ABV well, a really nice brew.

Appearance: dark orange in color with a 2" head that falls to a thick surface foam.

Smell: earthy and pine tones come through.

Taste: caramel, grapefruit, pine, and an earthy bitterness.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp throughout. Mildly refreshing.

Overall: the alcohol is well hidden this DIPA, and the flavor profile is nice.

this is as solid a DPA you will taste. Starts smooth followed by a sharp hop kick, mellow ABV presence. Great post cascade in the back of your throat. You can feel the brewers intention of hop first, fruit very much in the background. Measures closer to 90 minute than it does torpedo. You will like this in comparison to both, sorry it is so difficult to find....

Poured from the tap into a tulip glass at the Service Brewery in Savannah. The appearance is a gorgeous reddish amber that is mostly clear. Has a thick medium sized white head. The aroma is full of hops. The taste is an excellent hop bonanza. An excellent beer.
