Notes: Collaboration with Insa, TDH IPA.

The grist for this beer leads with a high percentage of flaked oats which are backed up by some malted wheat making for a solid, round base. In the whirlpool we added some piney Simcoe Cryo® pellets, a technological development in hop pellet processing which sees much of the vegetal material removed, leaving pure oils and all of their flavoursome goodness in a more concentrated form.

For the dry hop we went with the tropical intensity of Citra in BBC pellet form, again, a higher concentrated pellet well suited for dry hopping. We backed them up with Mosaic and the underrated hop Comet, which lends plenty of dank, grapefruit character to this resinous, zesty IPA.

Pours a hazy, pale golden amber, peach coloration with a medium, foamy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and sweet and juicy tropical and citrus notes of guava, pineapple and grapefruit, as well as some grassy dankness. Taste follows the nose with some light biscuity malt and strong, sweet and juicy tropical notes of guava, papaya and pineapple, with lighter citrus notes of grapefruit and tangerine, as well a distinct grassy dankness and just a hint of pine coming through in the aftertaste. Finishes with a light bitterness and some tropical notes, and dank and piney notes lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

A very nice NEIPA that's a tad too sweet for my personal taste though, even though it turns a little more dry in the finish. Also has that distinct guava note that I'm not a huge fan of, but makes up for it with a good dankness and some pine.

Pours a hazy yellow with soft, soapy head.

Smell is hoppy and very juicy with notes of mango, pineapple and a hint of vanilla.

Taste is very juicy and very hoppy. Huge tropical notes of mango, pineapple and oranges are joined by a bit of sweetness and vanilla. The bitterness is soft, but still potent with excellent hop burn and bite. Finish is a bit dry and floral. Great balance, and super easy to drink.

Mouthfeel is medium, pillowy and well carbonated.

Overall, a superb NE IPA, my favorite beer from Northern Monk so far.
