a little flat but a gorgeous crimson color from the tap, clear for the style, deep in tone, pretty despite the relative stillness. aroma is sharp lacto derived sourness right away, not as vinegar forward as the flanders types of the old world, but sharp and clean just the same, with some heavy fruity notes coming from that and the malt, dried cherry and cranberry come to mind, and there is some cool bretty funk to it as well, which i think is what makes it unique compared to some of the more classic examples of the style. lots of fruit notes in the flavor, cherry and raisin, piquant and sweet at the same time, and nice and malty. the funky brett dries it out nicely and adds a really cool flavor layer i would miss if it werent here. i dont taste wood on this, but i do get a lot of rich red wine, an awesome layer but some oak presence would be nice. its a bit flat in the feel, the one thing that i dislike about this one, it needs more life than this, but the dryness is nice. very acidic too on the teeth and tongue and even throat going down. fair state is definitely emerging as one of the better breweries doing sours in minnesota, and i have really enjoyed drinking through them. this is well done, and with some better carbonation would be a standout.

Aroma of tart cherry, lemon, oak and vinegar. Taste is very oak driven, with tart and sour notes of lemon, cherry and vinegar. Some malty sweetness balance. Very well executed Flemish Sour.

S: tart/sour) nose with a layers of funky wet horse blanket underneath. There is a hint of moist dark bread, fruit, and over ripe fruit.

L: It pours hazy reddish brown under a thin cream colored cap with poor retention.

T: lemony tart and juicy with funkier flavors in the background supported by low levels of dark bread. The lemony flavors are above average. The funky flavors are below average but come out a little on the finish with traces of dark sugars and balsamic. The malt flavors are medium and the hop flavors and bitterness are below detect levels.

F: The body is medium to medium light and the carbonation is above average.

O: This is an interesting beer that might achieve greatness with some age which would give it more Brett character.

Murky brown with a ruby hue. Off white head.

Sour cherries, some bready malts, oak. Tart.

Light to medium bodied. Ends pretty clean. Fairly straight forward, but very enjoyable. He right amount of sour.
