2017 notes:
Impenetrable haze, pale yellow hue, small, but lasting chalk white head above.

In the nose: ablaze with citrus notes, screaming with orange and pine. Grapefruit and lemon lingers below. Absolutely lovely. Bitterness is here, but keeps it cool.

In the mouth: Nothing but juicy and fruity, hovering over a bitter buzz. Yeast flavor charges in and takes command. Flavor remains bright and delightful throughout. Medium bodied, long bitter finish, tasty, inviting, satisfying. Hits all the right notes, and hits me right where I live.

So, it's a North-East (or New England)-style IPA brewed by West Coast and Mid-West breweries. And it's pretty darned good. Because it is now gone, I couldn't find any official information on the FS website, but dug this up on Untappd: A silly, hazy & fun IPA brewed in collaboration with Modern Times Beer. Super juicy, tropical, and dank. Brewed with Pilsner malt (barley), pale wheat, flaked oats, flaked barley, and hopped with x331 Experimental, Mosaic, & Citra.

You had me at Mosaic & Citra. How can you lose with that classic combo?

I still don't get the hype over "hazy", can't comprehend why people are losing their crap over beers that look like this. Is it just because it's different? Is it to be contrarian? We got folks swearing by the hazy, and nothing else will do. Unhazy IPAs? Who needs 'em, they say. You put out a perfectly fine, clear India Pale Ale, and some will shake their heads and wonder about you. Last week, I switched things up at the taproom and got an IPA in between Spirit Fouls. A friend was at the bar and looked at my pint and said, "that doesn't look hazy!" Oh, but he was kidding, I know.

Appearance: Pours a nearly completely hazy (~90% opaque), medium orange color with a massive and lacy white head which lingers. (4.25)

Aroma: Strong and intense aromas of orange, tangerine, mandarin orange. Some tropical orange and melon notes with Guava and pineapple underneath. Strong and juicy. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of mandarin orange citrus, some tropical grapefruit followed by a rich tropical guava, passionfruit flavor. Some tropical melon and fruit punch underlying as it finishes juicy and somewhat resinous. (4.25)

Feel: Medium to light bodied. Smooth carbonation. Minimal hop burn. Feel is smooth and soft on the palate for a smooth and relatively clean finish. (4.75)

Compared to Toppling Goliath King Sue 3/6/22: Pours a hazier color. Similar aroma intensity. More tropical orange, guava, melon, passionfruit. Less citrus flower. Lighter-bodied and cleaner on the palate.

Overall: Some fantastic haze right here. Strong mandarin orange, guava, passionfruit, and fruit punch flavors. The flavors are everything I'd expect from a NEIPA that carries a ton of hop burn or plastic flavor with it, but this does not and carries true to the end. Soft and clean finish. Well-done NEIPA here. This one was so smooth. (Final Rating: 4.34)

I am trying this beer off the tapper at The Daily Growler in Powell, Ohio as part of a six sample flight. It poured a hazy golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with citrus peel spice presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a good-sized, white head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of pineapple, grapefruit, citrus, dank resin and sweet caramel malt. Big, juicy, tropical fruit taste with bitter piney hops and toasted caramel.

16oz canned 5/13/20, opened 6/25/20.
2 finger white head with very good retention. Fresh, patchy lacing left behind.
Pale yellow/golden opaque NEIPA.
Orange Julius nose...oranges and cream. Mango, berries, glazed doughnut / doughy malt.
Zesty orange peel, some bitter citrus rind like quality that plays well.
Citrus first but definitely some tropical (pineapple/mango) flavors apparent.
Light to medium body. Medium carbonation. Lengthy citrus and woodsy/pine-like bitter, dry finish.
Very Good.

Pours a very cloudy yellow color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is mild and lacing is good. Nice, citrus, juicy aroma with some definite tropical undertones. Decent juicy tropical citrus taste. Small amount of pineapple. Decent piney bitterness at the end. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

From a 16oz can:

Appearance: Cloudy yellow, good head.

Smell: Nice mixed fruit aroma.

Taste: Moderate sweetness, tropical fruits, juicy, citrus, NOT OJ!

Overall: Finally was able to pick up this collaboration beer from 2 of my favorite breweries. Lived up to the hype, I don't like the OJ bombs that a lot of NEIPAs end of being, this beer instead actually has a nice blend of fruits and citrus instead of a blast of orange and hop burn. Excellent!

Pours orange in color, 1 minute post pour results in thin outer head, very little lacing. Aroma is citrus and very balanced. Taste is light mix of pineapple, orange, with even lighter coconut in the background. Very low bitterness.. with a slight resiny finish. MF is medium. A little carbonated as well. A delicious offering from 2 excellent breweries.

Pours an opaque light-orange with a two fingers of white foam. Head retention is good. Aroma is peaches, apricots, papaya, mango, rindy melon dew, yeast, and earthy, bready malts. It's soft, but dynamic. Flavor profile is papaya, tangerine, mango, peaches, apricot and rindy melon dew. There are hints of biscuity and bready malts combined with yeast at the finish. Mouth feel is soft with a very light, linen-like texture. It has a medium thickness. Overall, soft and delicate with a wonderful bouquet of notes.

L-Classic hazy IPA look...glowing light orange...1/4 inch white head

S-Right from the opening of the can the aroma jumps out. First impression is a an orange dreamsicle. Then, a good burst of mango. Really top notch.

T-Very smooth ripe citrus. Oranges, tangerines. Also the mango notes. Touch of papaya. Light pineapple. Not too sweet with the fruit flavors....just right.

F-Creamy, medium bodied...no harshness and no real bitterness.

O-Wow. This is really impressive. Easy drinking juice laden IPA offering that never pushes the "too sweet" boundaries.
