On tap at my brother's wedding.
Currently choosing it over Odell (regular) IPA, for what it's worth.

Blonde with a wispy half finger of head.

Grapefruit and mandarin orange on the nose. Slight melon.

Flavor is sharp, defined, and fruity. Detecting dank Citra, with slight sweat, grapefruit, melon, papaya, and mandarin orange. Finish of bubblegum and watermelon (El Dorado?).

Feel is typical Minnesota haze. Harder than it needs to be, heavy carbonation, no creaminess, slight dryness, lots of crispness.

Overall a tasty Midwestern IPA with the fruitiness of New England, the bite of California, and the stout water profile of Minnesota.

Fairly decent.

pours a hazy yellow-orange body with pure white head that is billowy and bubbly and has moderate retention, leaving patches of sudsy lacing as it settles to a halo

aroma is smooth tropical citrus (pineapple leading) and light resinous near-pine shade of hop earthiness - but water whatever expectation you have upon reading that by like 45%

taste is essentially soaked pineapple(-hop) cake with frothy cream icing. pepper that with unaggressive/unassertive earthy-shade of hop. the malt is oat forward. so. much. oat.

moderately high carbonation and a medium body that feels full and billowing thanks in part to the oat inclusion, no doubt. it's smooth 95% and then fades to a lowkey bitter earth dryness.

I bought a 4 pack of this, so 100% honesty I may wind up coming back to change this but as of now, halfway through, I cannot begin to fathom why this brew is so highly rated. the use of oat here is damn-near profane. the hop profile is completely neutered and the malt profile hangs out somewhere around runny oatmeal. it's weak, it's overly smooth, it's completely anti-profound, and if I ever sampled this from a fellow homebrewer, I would tell them to scramble back to the drawing table as soon as flippin possible. I wanted to like this brew, I really did. but maybe this is a SOLID lesson to be learned about what happens when you advertise "way too many hops" and lean in with oatmeal instead.
it's boring. it's fluffy. it's damp. ugh.
like I said - I might come back around here and reevaluate once I've gone thru another can, but honestly, at this point, if I hit another can in this pack it's to prove myself wrong and get my money's worth.
updated 11.3
can 4 of 4, I can say that this brew is not my favorite, but I have found a bit more appreciation; the brew looked great, and the oat and other additives took a back row finally, producing a fruit-smoothie NEIPA with a slightly off mouthfeel and misdirected aroma. OG score: 2.73. now? a little higher. but nowhere near the avg...still just not the biggest fan

Hazy straw yellow beer with a bubbly white head.

Wonderful taste mix of subtle pine and tropical fruit ( pineapple mainly).

Feels soft and smooth in the mouth.

A new favorite!

Well, Bobdammit! I had JUST bought this CAN at Rieker Bottle Works to bring home ISO The CANQuest (tm), but I only brought one (1) bag, as I was indirectly CANming from work. Things must have been just a wee bit too overcrowded as when I got home, I noticed that the small of my back was wetter than it should have been from simply sweating. Eeek! I quickly identified the culprit & went into Emergency Crack! & Glug mode to rescue what remained.

From the CAN: "Mirror Universe Hazy IPA"; "A hazy IPA brewed with Oats, Wheat, Barley, and too many Hops".

My frantic, CANtic antics netted me two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention. Color was a lightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose smelled like liquified pineapple upside-down cake! Mmm. Let me break that down for you - caramel & bready/cake-like malt, strong pineapple scent, fusel alcohol sharpness & a wee bit of piney dank for good measure. That was merely the nose! Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium, approaching creaminess. The taste was like stoner's pineapple upside-down cake! The dank really came through, like it was part of the recipe, and the alcohol was like brandy or grain alcohol, added for a flambé coup de grace on the dessert.

I have done both - made it with dank & made it as a flambé, but not both at the same time. Man, I miss taking HomeEc! In the early-1980s, it was wide open in those kitchens. Add some stash to the recipe, engage in heavy petting with a classmate & before long, DING!, the desserts were ready! I used to float through the afternoons after Foods 4 (Gourmet).

I was really digging this one. It kinda made me sad that I lost some in transit, but OTOH, it CANspired me to drink it now, rather than later, down the road. Finish was semi-dry to dry with a modicum of bitterness, but not enough to render it truly dry. YMMV.

Thanks, Sam!

Got this and a whole bunch of other goodies from Sam. Have had a bunch of stuff from Fair State and always good. Looking up on Beer Advocate, the four I’ve reviewed by them have averaged a 4.29 rating. Their website labeled this as, “Double dry-hopped hazy IPA brewed with wheat, oats, and lots of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops.” That sounds like a pretty damn good beer to me.

Poured a golden hazy color with five fingers of rocky white head. Some slow moving bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 5.00)

Smelled big Mosaic up front, followed by Citra, tangerine, grapefruit, papaya, pineapple, melon, herbal and wet grass. Even better out of the can with Mosaic leading the way, followed by Citra. (Smell - 4.25)

Very juicy taste, not quite as good as the nose but still outstanding. In order got Mosaic, tangerine, orange peel, grapefruit, papaya, pineapple, mango, hints of peach, Citra, melon (El Dorado) and citrus pulp. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)

Another outstanding beer from Fair State. (Overall - 4.00)

Appearance: Pours a 70% hazy, pale orange color with a surprisingly small white head. SRM of exactly 8. (3.50)

Aroma: Huge aromas of pineapple, orange/tangerine, sweet OJ,mango, and guava. A little bit of flower. Then some creamsicle and pineapple notes. Mostly OJ, pineapple, creamsicle, mango, and guava though. Great aroma and hard to differentiate from frank OJ. (4.25)

Flavor: A massive pineapple & OJ flavor comes through. Then a strong green citrus and flower flavor evolves alonside the tangerine. Both of these fade into some tropical pineapple/creamsicle. Oatmeal and cream malt. Then some tangerine lingers through the end. A decent amount of flowery and pineapple bitterness on the end too. Nice OJ and creamsicle. Very complex and evolving flavors. (4.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Well-carbonated and clean to give it a relatively lighter body. Some bitter astringency does linger on the palate to make it clean and not too juicy, which I appreciate in this style. (4.25)

Compared to PseudoSue 12/4/20: Pours a darker orange, clearer, and less hazy color. More wet pineapple and sweet orange juice. Less grapefruit and green flower. Heavier, stickier, and sweeter with more alcohol.

Overall: A very well-made NEIPA. Extremely creamy. Drinks like mostly wet pineapple juice mixed with sweet OJ with a dab of cream mixed in. Complex and evolving flavors. A nice herbal and flowery notes to balance the fruit. A subtle bitterness creeps up and allows it to finish clean and not sweet. I'm mostly over the juicy beers, but this is nice and creamy. I haven't had a NEIPA in a while, but would pick this one up again. (Final Rating: 4.16)

Pours hazy orange, light head and minimal lacing. Aroma is fairly light.. mostly tropical, with a bit of citrus. Taste is heavy on pineapple, mild on stone fruit. Citrus light as well. MF is medium smooth in the front. A little bitter on the backside. Overall, a very good tasting hazy IPA. Love the MF, as it incorporates a nice amount of bitterness to counteract the smooth.

Poured into a Tree House glass a pretty nice cloudy pale yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy two-finger off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, guava, mango, melon, peach), pretty nice diesel like. Strong multifaceted citrus / tropical fruit aroma: pineapple, melon, tangerine, orange, grapefruit.

1 inch white, creamy head that leaves thick lacing as it leisurely falls. Bright orange color, hazy, translucent, but not really turbid; no floaties. Carbonation bubbles are faintly visible. Very nice looking beer.

Juicy taste - fruit juices with pineapple, tangerine; no bitterness at all, but slightly dank. Somewhat sweet, but not overly so. There is a slight bitterness toward the finish.

Mouth feel is medium bodied and smooth, but not soft.

Finish relatively sweet, with mainly the pineapple flavor remaining on the tongue. Noticeable, but controlled, astringency in the finish.

Overall nice, with a definite sweet pineapple juice character. I enjoyed it.

S - Aroma is mild and balanced, some light fruit and spice. Pretty uneventful.

T - Spicy fruit rind from start to finish with some garlic and onion. Nice old school here.

M - Robust, slightly chewy, and very dry on the back of the tongue.

Had on tap. Looks like oj with a thin layer of white bubbles. Smell bursts forth with pineapple, orange, mango, lemon, and dank dry hops. Taste pretty much as smell would suggest, but appreciated that this is not overly sweet, though crushable. Feel has some booze leak out here and there, but otherwise creamy, hoppy, and refreshing.

Poured from a pint can into a tulip.

Pours well-beyond hazy. A very cloudy orange-gold A nice single-finger head persists, giving way to nice foam skein.

The nose presents with plenty of clementine/orange, mango, tangerine, and hints of herbal, but not quite pine hops. A bit subdued.

The flavor, like the nose, is decidedly citrus (mostly orange), which hits the tip of the tongue solidly although there is some mango and peach in the mid-palate, along with some spicy grain. The finish is floral/herbal hop and just a touch of booze.

The mouthfeel is medium light to medium bodied with less carbonation than expected, but enough nonetheless. A rather drying finish with a touch of booze.

This is a nice NEIPA.

Can. Pours nice and hazy. Glowing body. Opaque. Fruity and juicy but has its flaws. There is this sugary sweetness that hides under the hops. And sometimes the hop profile smells like dried, old pellets. Honestly though, it smells and tastes a lot better than most of the beers the newer breweries in the New England area are making. It’s not just hazy looking and blandly sweet. This beer is crafted with more attention to detail. It’s clear that the rest of the country has caught up and/or surpassed the New England breweries in making a dominant (yet hopefully waning) style.

S: Light to moderate aromas of oranges and tangerines are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of orange citrus along with notes of mangos. Only a faint amount of bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, juicy, and slightly smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: With the use of wheat and oat, this beer seems to be a little lighter in body compared to other beers in the style but is still very juicy.

Overall: A solid NE IPA from Fair State. I like NE IPA's but so many of them taste the same to me. Unless it is focused on a certain hop (and even then a lot of the time), they taste like orange juice. This is in that crowd. Good but same-y.

Absolutely delicious beer. Tastes of fresh-squeezed orange juice and perfectly ripe peaches, with of course a hop bitterness balancing the sweetness. Doesn't drink like an IPA. More like a pale ale, but excessively fruity. The haziness also makes it a bit more full-bodied, a bit like pulpy orange juice (without the actual bits, obviously). Would recommend both to IPA-lovers looking for something milder and also for craft beer newbies.
