Thanks, Sam!

Got this and a whole bunch of other goodies from Sam. Have had a bunch of stuff from Fair State and always good. Looking up on Beer Advocate, the four I’ve reviewed by them have averaged a 4.29 rating. Their website labeled this as, “Double dry-hopped hazy IPA brewed with wheat, oats, and lots of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado hops.” That sounds like a pretty damn good beer to me.

Poured a golden hazy color with five fingers of rocky white head. Some slow moving bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 5.00)

Smelled big Mosaic up front, followed by Citra, tangerine, grapefruit, papaya, pineapple, melon, herbal and wet grass. Even better out of the can with Mosaic leading the way, followed by Citra. (Smell - 4.25)

Very juicy taste, not quite as good as the nose but still outstanding. In order got Mosaic, tangerine, orange peel, grapefruit, papaya, pineapple, mango, hints of peach, Citra, melon (El Dorado) and citrus pulp. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)

Another outstanding beer from Fair State. (Overall - 4.00)

Fair State Mirror Universe NEIPA, 7% ABV. Pours hazy orangish yellow with a two-finger brilliant white head that left some lacing. Nose is vague fruit. Taste is fruit, white onion, pine, slightly sweet, slightly bitter. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Appearance: Pours a 70% hazy, pale orange color with a surprisingly small white head. SRM of exactly 8. (3.50)

Aroma: Huge aromas of tangerine, orange, mango, and guava. A little bit of flower. Then some cream and pineapple notes. Mostly tangerine, mango, and guava though. Great aroma. (4.25)

Flavor: Hoppy Onion upfront, but only for a second before a massive tangerine flavor comes through. Then a strong green citrus and flower flavor evolves alonside the tangerine. Both of these fade into some tropical pineapple/cream. Oatmeal and cream malt. Then some tangerine lingers through the end. A decent amount of flowery and pineapple bitterness on the end too. Very complex and evolving flavors.(4.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Well-carbonated and clean to give it a relatively lighter body. Some bitter astringency does linger on the palate to make it clean and not too juicy, which I appreciate in this style. (4.25)

Overall: A very well-made NEIPA. Not the haziest, nor creamiest thing on the market, but it's delicately crafted. Complex and evolving flavors. A nice herbal and flowery note to balance the fruit. A subtle bitterness creeps up and allows it to finish clean and not juicy. I'm over the juicy beers, but this one has a tamed bitter herbal/floral balance and allows it to round out extremely crafted. I haven't had a NEIPA in a while, but would pick this one up again. Mirror Universe pours a very hazy oranageish color, with a small but long lasting head. Creamy aroma, sweet, very floral. Taste is floral, hints of earth, hint of sweetness, and even more bitterness. Good body and feel. Overall, very creamy bodied beer, lots of flavor.

A thanks to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a slightly hazy orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of tropical fruits. Taste is juicy, tropical fruits, mild bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer, but I would have loved if it packed a little more punch.

Pours hazy orange, light head and minimal lacing. Aroma is fairly light.. mostly tropical, with a bit of citrus. Taste is heavy on pineapple, mild on stone fruit. Citrus light as well. MF is medium smooth in the front. A little bitter on the backside. Overall, a very good tasting hazy IPA. Love the MF, as it incorporates a nice amount of bitterness to counteract the smooth.

Canned On: 03/18/19

This was a freebie.

Poured into a Tree House glass a pretty nice cloudy pale yellow color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy two-finger off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, guava, mango, melon, peach), pretty nice diesel like. The taste is pretty nice hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, guava, mango, melon, peach), pretty nice diesel like. Medium body, ABV hidden very nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty brew. Orange Julius! Addictive! MilkShake! Nice to see it around here.

Strong multifaceted citrus / tropical fruit aroma: pineapple, melon, tangerine, orange, grapefruit.

1 inch white, creamy head that leaves thick lacing as it leisurely falls. Bright orange color, hazy, translucent, but not really turbid; no floaties. Carbonation bubbles are faintly visible. Very nice looking beer.

Juicy taste - fruit juices with pineapple, tangerine; no bitterness at all, but slightly dank. Somewhat sweet, but not overly so. There is a slight bitterness toward the finish.

Mouth feel is medium bodied and smooth, but not soft.

Finish relatively sweet, with mainly the pineapple flavor remaining on the tongue. Noticeable, but controlled, astringency in the finish.

Overall nice, with a definite sweet pineapple juice character. I enjoyed it.

A - Opaque medium to dark orange with a thin dense ring of lacing.

S - Aroma is mild and balanced, some light fruit and spice. Pretty uneventful.

T - Spicy fruit rind from start to finish with some garlic and onion. Nice old school here.

M - Robust, slightly chewy, and very dry on the back of the tongue.

O - I didn't care for this one at first but now that I'm working through the can it's really growing on me. The nose falls short but everything else hits the mark.

Had on tap. Looks like oj with a thin layer of white bubbles. Smell bursts forth with pineapple, orange, mango, lemon, and dank dry hops. Taste pretty much as smell would suggest, but appreciated that this is not overly sweet, though crushable. Feel has some booze leak out here and there, but otherwise creamy, hoppy, and refreshing.

Poured from a pint can into a tulip.

Pours well-beyond hazy. A very cloudy orange-gold A nice single-finger head persists, giving way to nice foam skein.

The nose presents with plenty of clementine/orange, mango, tangerine, and hints of herbal, but not quite pine hops. A bit subdued.

The flavor, like the nose, is decidedly citrus (mostly orange), which hits the tip of the tongue solidly although there is some mango and peach in the mid-palate, along with some spicy grain. The finish is floral/herbal hop and just a touch of booze.

The mouthfeel is medium light to medium bodied with less carbonation than expected, but enough nonetheless. A rather drying finish with a touch of booze.

This is a nice NEIPA.

Can. Pours nice and hazy. Glowing body. Opaque. Fruity and juicy but has its flaws. There is this sugary sweetness that hides under the hops. And sometimes the hop profile smells like dried, old pellets. Honestly though, it smells and tastes a lot better than most of the beers the newer breweries in the New England area are making. It’s not just hazy looking and blandly sweet. This beer is crafted with more attention to detail. It’s clear that the rest of the country has caught up and/or surpassed the New England breweries in making a dominant (yet hopefully waning) style.

Poured from a 16oz can into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a slightly orange very hazy yellow with a full white head.

Aroma is juicy tangerine with a slight mango.

Taste is a little lighter bodied than the nose suggested, but still very good.

A: The beer is very hazy yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left lots of specks of bubbles on the surface and lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of oranges and tangerines are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of orange citrus along with notes of mangos. Only a faint amount of bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied, juicy, and slightly smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: With the use of wheat and oat, this beer seems to be a little lighter in body compared to other beers in the style but is still very juicy.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden yellow color with a small, fluffy, white head of foam. It smelled of tropical fruits and sweet caramel. Pineapple, guava, mango flavors with a sweet caramel backbone and bitter bite.

From a 16oz can:

Appearance: Hazed yellow-gold, good head.

Smell: Oranges, bit of rind.

Taste: Orange juice, sweet and mild. Soft feel. Tasty.

Overall: A solid NE IPA from Fair State. I like NE IPA's but so many of them taste the same to me. Unless it is focused on a certain hop (and even then a lot of the time), they taste like orange juice. This is in that crowd. Good but same-y.

Really solid brew coming from a brewery that isn't known for the hazies.
Tropical juice bomb with a nice thick feel to it. A little bitterness on the finish.
Hazy orange glow - white head.
Solid stuff.

Absolutely delicious beer. Tastes of fresh-squeezed orange juice and perfectly ripe peaches, with of course a hop bitterness balancing the sweetness. Doesn't drink like an IPA. More like a pale ale, but excessively fruity. The haziness also makes it a bit more full-bodied, a bit like pulpy orange juice (without the actual bits, obviously). Would recommend both to IPA-lovers looking for something milder and also for craft beer newbies.

L: A murky, straw gold pour fills the glass producing a 1" off-white blanket of foam with a fine bead and good retention

S: melon, tropical fruit, tangerine, floral and traces of lactose and biscuit

T: tropical fruit tart flavor with pineapple, melon, orange and citrus mingling with a rich pastry base

F: very creamy, juicy and pulpy with a medium body and very soft, fine carbonation

O: full flavored, nicely balanced and satisfying

A: Poured from the can into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body is hazy golden-orange with a half-finger of white head on top.

S: First reaction: something "off." But after a few sniffs, that sensation abates and I'm getting tropical fruit, dank mustiness, and a touch of overripe oranges.

T: Very nice - juicy sweeter tropical fruit: mango, papaya, with a touch of pineapple. Finishes "clean" for a NE-style IPA.

M: A wee bit on the thin side, but otherwise it's nice: smooth juiciness, with a faint bite of carbonation.

O: A real easy drinker; not a "big" beer, flavor-wise, but super easy to drink, and tasty.

L-Hazy glowing IPA appearance.

S-Fresh citrus....oranges, tangerines. Lighter notes of lemons.

T-Big juicy orange and tangerine flavor. Like biting into a perfectly ripe orange wedge. Also a bit of passion fruit evident as well. Perhaps some lime notes.

F-Creamy, pillowy body. Slides down quick and easy.

O-Great beer. Nails the style. I love the fresh citrus flavors. Medium dry finish. Not oversweet.

Hello! Live from Minnesota, it’s Saturday night! Fresh off of a lovely tasting hosted by a buddy, time for some IPA to bring me down. 16 oz. can.

The pour is hazy, as advertised can-side, but it’s a light, lemon-infused haziness. No oranges need apply. Nose: guava, citrus, along with an almost candied sugar sweetness.

Mirror Universe will forever live in the shadow of the magnificent Spirit Foul. Is the comparison fair? No. Rather than the singing of the seraphim, this is more authority territory. This is mostly sweet lemon water, with a healthy dosing of bitterness. Not much depth & way too much residual sugar. Dry. Glad I split this can with my wife.

I had this on draft right after it came out & it’s either better outta the can or a few weeks have done it good, up from mediocre boringness to decent. But way, way too sweet.

Bright, hazy sunshine color with a soapy white head. Bright citrus on the nose, with substantial dank notes.

The dank aromas translate to the taste - there are juicy tangerines, and passion fruit galore, which lends a slightly exotic note to this. Just a pleasure to drink.

this is glorious stuff, fair state just keeps doing it, almost everything ive ever had from them has been awesome, but better with the wild stuff than the hoppy ones in my experience, at least until now. this is a trend follower without a doubt, a hazy east coast type, grainy starchy mash and a heavy dry hop. i have changed my tune a little on the appearance of these, like i now think they can be beautiful, and this one is, hazy sure, but its uniform and still looking sunny and orangey bright in the glass under its frothy head, its pretty even if its cloudy. huge hoppy aroma, citra booming, mosaic or amarillo or something right there with it, tropical and classic but fresher and cleaner and more unified than they ever usually are. pineapple and tangerine and even fresh coconut meat to me, this really does have an island vibe. the flavor is just a little less explosive than the nose, but all the nuance and freshness are there, and it drinks beautiful and vibrant and professional. the malt base is cool, fluffy feeling, wheat no doubt, but still well dry, and without getting in the way of the hops at all, ducking out before the hops finish, a nice way to wrap this up. it warms up really well too, and just keeps tasting as good as it smells. brilliant stuff, rightfully generating a lot of stoke around minnesota right now...

One of the best IPAs I have had. The nose was as complex as an IPA I've drank Usually I only use a word like complex with a stout. But the malt, mosaic and citra hops were all present in the nose and built upon each other nicely. The taste was very similar. The taste was smooth, juicy and buttery. An outstanding take on the hazy style.
