Abbaye du Lys, a 330ml bottle poured into a 3 Monts Tulip. 8,5%.

Looks is a pale gold with a thin white head fading super fast.

On the nose, malty and nutty.

On the palate, this is unfortunately a rather poorly balanced Tripel, the alcohol is overwhelming and its sugary taste a bit too much for my taste. It’s okay-ish so far.

Overall, this is not awful but certainly lacks a bit of balance. My taste bud are used to World-Class Tripel like those well known Belgian ones. I’ve had far better French Tripel so I’m semi-disappointed. I tried. I will not buy again.

Cheers!

Bottle, served at home in a trappist glass. Pours a golden colour, small head with short retention, good lacing.
Aroma has a lot of belgian yeast, citrics, ripened fruits and a disgusting acetone note.
Medium body, creamy texture, good carbonation. Sweet finish.
Taste of apricots, ripened fruits, some citrics, peaches and a bit of that acetone thing.
It could be good, but that diacetyl thing miss it all.

Poured from a bottle to a goblet
A - Clear pale gold with almost no head
S - Nutty malts
T - Not so balanced, the alcohol can be guessed
M - Very little carbonation
O - A tripel with a little lack of balance, no real point of interest for the style but no defect either.

From Alcampo. In La Trappe chalice. Watching Sons of Anarchy 6x11.Good tripel. Sugary, dry and with a strong body enjoyable in short sips. Id prefer if it were available in 33cl, as 75cl can be too much for a single person because of the time it takes to be drinked. Its bigger flaw is that it has no foam.
