Pours clear light brown with a small off white head. Smells of malt, some chocolate, and fruit. Tastes of malt, caramel, light fruit, and nuttiness. Light mouthfeel with med-low carbonation. Overall its good just nothing worth buying again.

This beer has a dull dark color with a strong coffee smell. It tastes smooth with dark coffee aroma, it does't taste too bitter with a slight sweetness, which is what I like the best. There is no or low hop in it, which makes it no bad.

I am not a huge fan of dark beers (or coffee). this beer was too bitter for me.

This beer reminds me of Guinness. It has a dark color, coffee and sweet smell, and light coffee taste.

First had at Middendorf's, Manchac, La., poured from 11.2-oz. bottle, label stamped best before "06.OCT.17," into (unfortunately) frosted mug. A decent dark lager, which stands up well to turtle soup.

Let me start by saying that I LOVE this beer! Poured @ 38F into pint glass, hard pour yielded a small but persistent head that left a nice little bit of lacing. Appearance is very appealing, think Newcastle nut brown except 3 shades darker. The smell is of caramel roasted/toasted barley malt with a little bit of chocolate and the 'all german' hops that I think may be Saaz or related. The taste is rich, with a dark cocoa like flavor, bittersweet like dark chocolate and an amazing roasted barley malt flavor that is balanced with the slightly skunky hop profile. Even the aftertaste is nice and the hops linger on the palette without being offensive. The medium carbonation compliments the delivery of the hop flavor and adds to the balance of the brew. The feel is a bit thin but it works well here. Overall I recommend this beer. It might be my favorite beer, or in my top 3 of all time. Everyone who enjoys German beer I encourage to try this.

Nice dark. I like the coffee flavor that is behind the curtain. Pours light brown with off-white head that dissipates like a good dunkel but does have residuals that stick around. Smells of well roasted malt and barley. Burnt caramel in the pallette after the swallow. Lightish bodied. Slick finish.

Warsteiner Dunkel was a light brown and a deep amber color. It has the aroma of coffee with a hint of sweetness. The beer was very pleasing to my palette. I felt like it taste like coffee and chocolate and has mild acuity. The aftertaste taste like I drank a cup of black coffee. The overall taste of the beer was very good and pleasing.

Warsteiner Dunkel smells and tastes like coffee with a hit of honey. As I'm not a coffee drinker it is not as terrible. Not sure if i would get it again.

Bought a six pack in bottles, poured it up into an imperial pint glass. Beautiful, clear chocolate brown hue with a nice, clean white head, that left behind decent lacing. Smelled of barley, malt and hints of chocolate and cinnamon (maybe?). Nice, crisp flavor, heavy malt tones, with a hint of chocolate and coffee underneath. Smooth in the mouth, goes down very easy. Overall, a great dark beer.

Attractive dark brew, crystal clear, brown with garnet highlights. Head production and retention is OK but not impressive.

Aroma carries bready notes of dark fruit: raisins, red grapes, dark wheat bread, peppery rye. Slightly cleaner on the nose than bigger cousin Bocks, but reminiscent nonetheless.

Very clean drinking; slightly sweet; quite fruity, with plenty of raisin notes, a touch of toffee, and light grape juice.

Slick oily finish; very easy drinking.

Has a nice caramel and smokey smell. Taste is smokey and a suttle sweetness. Feel is carbinated. I enjoyed drinking this and was able to have a couple very easily. Great beer.
