33cl aluminum bottle into clear plastic glass. Consumed on a flight home from Berlin.

A: Pours a bright clear golden with a thick very dense and frothy bright white head that lasted the whole beer through. Very impressive head retention. Sheets of soft dense lace were left down the glass.
S: Grainy nose with just a kiss of honey like sweetness and a lot of peppery hops. Lager yeast is bready and has a slight fruity quality to it. Overall smells a lot like bread.
T: Tastes like bread as well with a peppery hop finish and sort of wet grain bitterness. Sour mash taste, not the best aftertaste at all, leaves an unpleasant grainy bitterness in my mouth. Grain flavors taste roasted and toasted and are more like toasted oats as opposed to toasted bread.
M: Medium body with a decent chew to the mouthfeel. Carbonation is very soft but also very bubbly, ample, and filling. A filling beer overall.
O: Flavors are dirty tasting overall, with unpleasant grain/hop combination. Would not order again. Not especially crisp, rather heavy. Really unpleasant aftertaste of dirty hops that coat the tongue and hang on long after the swallow. This beer looks awesome in a glass though!

I poured it in a 12oz mug, light straw color with a nice beer smell to it. A little bit of a watery taste but a nice clean drink. I got a bit of sweetness also in the taste, maybe a honey flavor. Overall a good light refreshing drink, not to overdone, nice and simple.

A bunch of clarity, yellow pour, easy to see through, white head, 1/5", doesn't really hold up though. Aroma hits with, well, almost nothing but hints of beer like ingredients (barley, grain).

Taste is a heavily carbonated pilsner, even by pilsner standards. Noble hops, right down the middle, 30 ibu territory. Light pilsen malts, barely toasted. This is like Coors but across the pond.

Nice golden pilsner with a good white foamy lacing. What immediately strikes you about this beer is its crisp light taste. It has a great drinkability combined with good flavor; what American mass produced pilsners claim to have, but really fail miserably at in regards to the latter. The flavor is all classic German malts. It doesn’t have any of the fancy subtleties that I’ve become so used to with drinking many California craft beers, but sometimes I like that. It’s a good beer, nothing too special, but very refreshing and I got it at a very good price for an import at $1.50 for a bottle.

Really the only problem I can find with this beer is that it's not in-style. It's a German Pilsener.

I get it. I love IPAs too. I love stouts. But in a world where Double Imperial Chocolate Mocha Sea-salted Organic Fair-trade Stouts from Portland seem to dominate beer ratings, where does this beer fit in?

In there lies the problem: People seem to rate pilseners against IPAs against stouts. Like having a Double-Double from In and Out Burgers and saying it sucked because you had much better beef at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

So, as a PILSENER, here is my review:

Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a pint glass.

Great carbonation and color. It pours clean and clear gold with ever-present bubbles.

Very mellow hop character on the smell. More grainy. Hints of skunk weed (I doubt that was the brewer's intention, but that's what I get).

Taste is pretty crisp. A slight bitterness. No bite on the back end. It goes down very smooth.

Overall this is a great pilsener. Mass produced? Yes. Maybe one of the better ones out there. I LOVE this beer in summer time. It is perfect for hot weather. Grill up some burgers and bratwurst and chase it down with one of these. You won't be disappointed (if you like beer-flavored beer)

This is exactly what I was looking for when it is 112 degrees in Phoenix. Clean, clear and crisp. A good bready smell and light feel in the mouth. The clean finish clears the palate and paves the way for another sip.

Pours almost clear as water from the bottle. In the glass, it looks crystal clear, a straw color with a thin, short lived eggshell white head.

The aroma is crisp and clean. Fresh cut grass, a bit of grainy malt sweetness, and a hint of lemon.

Up front, you get cracker and lightly biscuity sweetness, followed by lemon pith and grass to balance it out. Finishes clean and dry.

The mouthfeel is light, lots of effervescent carbonation, quaffable.

A staple of the style, this pales in comparison to some of the modern pilsners, in my opinion, but it is refreshing beer nonetheless.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden color with a nice billowy white head. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave tons of foamy lace.

Smell – The aroma is of a crisp bready smell mixed with a little bit of a grainy smell as well as a lemon smell.

Taste - The taste begins with a crisp and clean bready taste mixed with a little bit of lemon and herbal hop. As the taste advances some grassy hops join the profile and mix with some light grain tastes to leave a clean crisp flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average to crisp with a carbonation level that is a bit higher. This was a great feel for creating a clean crisp and refreshing brew and suited the flavor profile well.

Overall – I thought this was a rather nice clean drinking pils overall.

A: [3.75] Crystal clear straw colored beer. Forms a fat 2 finger head of dense white foam. The bottle lists the ABV at (4.8%) and there is a best by date of (07/15/16)

S: [3.75] Crackers, honey butter, caramel.

T: [4.00] Similar to the nose. Crackers, caramel, some slight flowery hop essence.

M: [3.75] Crisp, refreshing, more body than expected for a 4.8% beer. It has a slightly thicker/syrupy feel.

O: [3.75] This is a simple but really well made beer. It isn't flashy but it is really refreshing and clean. I would drink this again for sure.

(brown 0.33L bottle, best before: 25 Nov 16... poured into an Innis & Gunn fluted goblet)

L: crystal-clear, pale golden yellow liquid... head forms but quickly collapses, leaving a thin dusty layer of suds, though it clings a bit thicker on the collar... did get a more lasting foam and some lace after a second pour

S: (as detected, but in no order of intensity) dust, must, wet dough, lightly spicy/peppery hops, wet gravel, lightly-toasted cereal grain... later some honey and perfumy floral notes emerge

T: delicately-sweet cereal grass/grain, punchy spicy bitterness... lovely degree of toastiness in finish enhances the spice and gives a bit of dimension to what's otherwise an arguably indistinct malt flavor

F: not necessarily feather-light, very very mild almost syrupy viscosity in finish - could in part be hop resins?... vaguely-powdery mid-feel, lightly gummy residual film left on palate... like most other German pils, this has substance, but ends up marginally weightless and drinkable in gallon-size portions

O: really dig the spicy zip of its bitterness, but perhaps a more complex array of hop flavors could really make this stand out... local store has this in 24-pack of 12oz cans - bought this bottle as a sampler - I could see grabbing that case for a party - feel it's a step(s) up from Beck's, at least

Appears golden and bubbly with a honey tint. Very rich in color. It tasted fresh, bubbly, with lots of lingering flavor. Semi-sweet and semi-light made it enjoyable and left me wanting to drink it again!

From Hipercor. In Teku glass. Watching Vikings 4x04. Like a macro lager but more expensive. I dont know who could one to buy it twice instead of a much cheaper cruzcampo/mahou/etc. No foam

Had this regularly years ago when imports were our primary option and still like it but now find it a bit Euro bland to be much more than a thirst quencher. It does that job but so do a lot of others that I can get fresher and cheaper.

Warsteiner pours a golden crisp color, with a big lacing head. There is a earthy and skunky aroma. The flavor is crisp, with a very offensive aftertaste. Good body and feel. Overall stay away, taste old, even though the bottle indicates its fresher.

Brightly golden and carbonated to a good degree. Musky smell, skunky, with a bready malt. Lingering taste with a decently sweet balance. Full bodied for a Pilsener. As a novice beer learner, I would think this a great German Pilsener.

Look: bright golden with medium carbonation, builds a head that dissipates rather quickly.

Smell: sweet malts, bready and a touch of caramel.

Taste: a balance between bitterness and sweetness with a caramel finish. More tasty than others of its style.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, I found this one pretty crispy,.I had 2 cans in a row and felt the same with both. It's ok.

Overall: it's a very good beer at a great price, and better than other Pilsners, sweeter and tastier.

In my opinion a highly underrated beer. Poured from a 500 ml can.

Appearance - very clear, light golden colour. Pours a 2 to 3 finger creamy, white head. Lots of carbonation, like Champagne. Head is down to one finger after 2 minutes, but there was still a thin layer of foam until the entire glass was emptied after more than 14 minutes. Delicate lacing in the glass, some of which lasted until after the glass was finished. For a pilsner, the appearance couldn't be much better.

Smell - bready malts with almost no hop aroma. A touch of caramel.

Taste - very nicely balanced. Lots of malt with a balance of noble hops. Not too bitter as with many other pilsners. A slight presence of sweetness in the background. Lots of flavour for a pilsner. No adjuncts, unlike some North American pilsners.

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, crisp and dry, refreshing, no long bitter aftertaste like other pilsners, good level of carbonation.

Overall - one of the better mass-produced pilsners commercially available. One of my favourite pilsners that I drink often. In my opinion, much better than Bitburger, it's main rival.

Nice German pils. Yellow/pale wheat color is clear with white frothy head. Sweet grain on the smell. Crisp feel, and highly carbonated. Taste nice, refreshing, pure.

Honestly, I knew this wasnt my favorite German pilsner, but I had never reviewed and I recently found myself at a pub where this was the best option. Pours a deep straw with fluffy but light head that leaves lacing. Nose is towards the grainy end of the spectrum but I don't get much noble hop character. Taste is light and, again, a bit grainy. Crisp, but lacks the lip-smacking fresh crispness of better examples. A decent quaffer, but very forgettable.
