6 pack of bottles purchased from Wegmans.
Best before date says 06.Apr.18. Drank it on 08.Nov.17 from pint glass.
I really like pilsners and would love to find a go-to German import.
Ended up very disappointed due to the slightly skunky smell and at-times slightly detectable skunk taste. Is it supposed to taste like that? Or is it light exposure as some say? Hmmmm....
Look was OK - almost looks like yellow easter egg dye but had an sturdy 1" soap sudsy head after the pour that gradually broke into larger bubbles and maintained a consistent 1/4" head throughout most of the glass.
Mouthfeel was a nice gentle fiz feel but went flat one me by the end.
Bummed out by this beer. I'd like to try it again on tap and maybe the skunkiness of the bottle was due to light exposure one the journey from Germany.

Clear, straw-yellow pour from a 11.2 oz bottle into a pint glass. Fairly large white head with below average carbonation. Smell is grain and metal. Taste is pretty watered down with faint hops. There are much better pilseners out there.

Pours a thick, sudsy white head which leaves some lacing. Color is golden with moderate streaming bubbles. Aroma of toasted malt and herbal hops. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Flavors of cracker, toasted bread, with a noticeable, lingering hop bite. Overall a very solid pilsner.

Very good Pilsener. Here goes:

A: Perfectly clear yellow body. Has a large head that leaves plenty of lacing. Body carbonation is light, but this is OK.

S: Wheat, straw, grass, and traditional pilsner hops. A little mild, but it's still detectable.

T: More robust than indicated by the nose. Grass, straw, hay, and wheat. Also a fair amount of lemon. Of note, the water quality it very soft. Great.

F: Perfect.

O: A great Pilsener. Would have again.

A better than usual pilsner. Clear blond color as it should be. Smooth creamy feel.

Type: 330-ml. bottle
Glass: Clear 15.25-oz. pilsner
From: Trader Joe’s in Mission Valley (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $1.17
Purchased: Aug. 10, 2017
Consumed: Aug. 11, 2017
Reviewed as: German Pilsner
Misc.: No bottled on date

Picked this up on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s in Mission Valley. Had vaguely heard of this one and picked it up on a whim. Saw a 78 by Beer Advocate after the fact, so not expecting much.

Poured a straw clear color with two fingers of rocky white head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Average watery lacing. Excellent foamy retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled grain, grass, hay, white bread, hints of spoiled food, skunk and basic barley. (Smell - 3.25)

Taste followed the nose. Maltier than I anticipated. Got grain, grass, thick hay, farm manure, white bread, white cracker, clean barley and Shredded Wheat. (Taste - 3.25)

Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, earthy finish. (Feel - 3.50)

About what I thought it would be. A little rough around the edges. Would probably not drink again on purpose. Decent. (Overall - 3.25)

I have to admit that I know nothing of the style. I purchased 1 bottle for 99 cents from the broken case bin. I enjoyed it very much. Poured a clear yellow/gold into a tulip glass. Attractive generous white head. The lacing isn't over the top but enough to make a good presentation. The taste reminds me of a Becks or St. Pauly Girl from 30 years ago. The expiration date on the bottle is 3/22/18. ABV 4.8. Tastes like a German beer to me with a slight bitter finish. Once again I am not knowledgeable with this type of beer so I am calling how I see it.
