poured from a can into a pint glass. date on bottom of can was 5/9/16, which judging from other reviews of this brewery, i take to be the canned date. so less that 3 weeks old. bought from Grapes and Grains, Shepherdstown, WV, a nice little town.

virtually nothing on the nose, neither good nor bad.

This is a tasty brew. nicely balanced between the malt and hops. is only mildly bitter with a solid sweet malt background.

feel is a solid medium, slightly more bitter on the finish.

my first beer from the state of WV. grabbed a six pack, so more to enjoy over the next few weeks.

On tap 12oz Shaker pint

A: Murky golden yellow slightly better clarity as it warmed white small tight head that dissipated to film.

S: Peaches, grapefruit and tangerines with a lot of bready dough smell on the end

T: Great citrus taste not as vibrant as the nose but still quite good, with the orange tangerine taste very juicy in that regard. Decent maltiness on the end.

M: Middle of the road mouthfeel pretty decent carbonation slightly sticky on the tongue

O: Very good beer from a completely under heard of source. Had to keep asking the sever what the brewery was they kept saying Hatfield McCoy so it was hard to find in the database. Great surprise though very juicy citrus beer with a nice malty finish.

Poured from the tap into a pint glass at the "Irish Pub" in Lewisburg, WV. This beer is a cloudy golden color with a small white head. The aroma is full of fruit, hops and bread. The flavor is also really good, it has a citrus and hop flavor. Overall, a very nice beer that everyone should try if you can find it.

Devil Anse IPA brewed by Greenbrier Valley Brewing Co, with an ABV of 6.90% This American IPA pours out a nice golden amber color with a nice white head. There is also a good amount of lacing, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with hop bitterness. There is also some nice earthly grains and malts, in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste, it is bold with hop bitterness. This American IPA has more of a bite than most, not saying that is a bad thing. You also pick up on some decent earthy grains and malts to smooth the hop bitterness out. There is a lot going on in Devil Anse IPA . If you are a fan of hops this is a brew for you. For being a Hoppy brew it goes down nice and smooth. It is really hard to pick up on the 6.90% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. Devil Anse IPA, has a dencet balance to it, hops are bit more but not to bad. The mouth feel is Hops, Clean, Smooth and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving this American IPA a 4.25 out of 5. I would look this brew up again givin the chance to. Greenbrier Valley Brewing Co, did a nice job with this American IPA.
Love them Hops

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Orange amber, opaque and fairly hazy in body color and appearance. Out of the can, off white easy forming three finger head, slightly soapy, but more tiny swiss cheese like bubbles for bigger retention. Not much of a top, sort of caves down, fizzles slightly.

Good solid hop aroma. Pleasant dank earth, with a juicy note of tropical and citrus bent. Hints slight orange thick, good sweet malt angle but not overly sugary. Hits a little weedy dirt smelling too.

Palate is pretty solid. Citrus and pungent earthy hop tones with a fairly light but not too wet body. Drinks quite clean, with a good hint of citrus orange, almost juicy, but flirts with session light feel. A real excellent mix of juicy and earthy to dank flavors, particularly on the swallow. A real good mix of sweetened malt backbone and diverse hop angles that isn't too complex but provides lots of flavor.

Very nice made IPA.

A: The beer is very hazy amber yellow in color. It poured with a two finger high off white head that took a very long time to die down, but consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of citrusy hops—grapefruit seems to stand out in particular—are present in the nose along with hints of caramel malts.
T: The taste has flavors of floral and grapefruit hops along with stronger notes of caramel and toasted malts. There is a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer has a good balance between the malts and hops—it's not as "juicy" as some of the newer IPAs out there.

Clear auburn (9) draft pour with off-white head; great clarity; lasting cap and heavy lacing. Hoppy grapefruit nose. Lemon grass and lite bitter flavor up front; caramel malt supporting citrus hop finish. Moderate plus carbonation and medium lite mouthfeel. Overall a nicely balanced caramel malt IPA with citrus hop linger

Had on tap while visiting WV. While I was not expecting much, this really surprised me. Great juicy hop flavor with a slight bitterness at the end, along with a nice malt backbone which balances well with the hop flavors. Very good!

A: Pours a hazy to murky deep copper in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate amber + golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a four finger tall dense sudsy foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a medium sized patch of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of citrus/white grapefruit, citrus/grapefruit rind, and floral hops over the top of moderate aromas of toasted, bready, and caramel malts with moderate sweetness.

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of bready, toasted, and caramel malts with moderate amounts of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of citrus/white grapefruit, citrus/grapefruit rind, and floral hops which contribute a moderate amount of bitterness which lingers for a moderate amount of time.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Crisp initially with a slight amount of stickiness in the finish.

O: Easy to drink and enjoyable - more of an old school IPA rather than these new school juicy IPAs. Really nice hop flavors + aromas with a solid, albeit slightly sweet malt backbone. Alcohol is well hidden.

Very clear amber in color. Nice, thin white head. Smell is thick of hops. The taste is not nearly as hoppy as I expected after the smell. Little to no after taste or bitterness. Good stuff.

16oz draft in a nonic pint

It is a a cloudy yellow-gold color with a moderate white head.

Aroma is not very strong, but it smells like orange, and passion fruit with a decent amount of sweet malts.

A lot of juicy flavor. Orange/tangerine, a Starburst like pink candy/passion fruit, peach, and some floral/piney hops. Some bitterness creeps in late. Solid malt base that adds some body.

This is a nice ipa that has a bit of an east coast body without the yeast.
